Today is the day our Board of Directors is in the office and we are going to the Royals game after work. I have everything crossed that it pours and the game is cancelled.
Morning! Another day here. Probably head to the park in a bit and then the grocery store for a few things. I’m trying to keep my grocery and target runs to a minimum this month since last month was.... out of control.
The kids are heading to ILs tomorrow until Sunday. I’m just a little (very) excited for some alone time.
Hoping for a doc with a good thinking cap tgrimes.
Nothing exciting today. Back at work and not thrilled about that. Oh man, last night our workout at TKD about killed me. We haven't worked out that hard in a long time but it was good.
Yesterday Cass did her performance for the end of Pre-K. It was really cute. One of the songs they sang was Shout to the Lord and it brought me back to HS youth group. She performed sign with it and she was super into it. I almost got a little bit misty because I'm going to miss our preschool and Mondays with Cass Cass.
Running to get the boys happy meals for lunch. My dad is keeping them for a few hours so I can take my Grandma to the doctor. They've done nothing but fight all damn morning so I'm happy to drop them with papaw for a bit. Hopefully they come back in better moods...
A and I had a nice evening together last night after the boys went to sleep and I feel like we're really connected right now. Hoping it sticks for a while. I'm guilty of telling myself "it'll get better" when we're not connecting and not putting forth the effort so I've been really trying and it feels great to be in a great place with him. It also helps that he's so great about my limitations while pregnant. I cried when he walked in yesterday because I literally did nothing and still felt like crap and wanted to get the house clean the rest of the way and fold some laundry. So he took the boys with him to take the trash and recyclables down and my mom came and helped me fold and put away my clothes. So I felt a lot better by the time the boys were asleep.

Hello! Picking up C from school soon and headed to Trader Joe's. My sister is coming to watch the younger 2 so I can take C to kindergarten and up. Then the girls have ballet later.
A was so cute this morning and last night singing nursery rhymes. She only has about half the words. Both times I tried to join in and she stopped, looked at me and said "IIII SINGING". Apparently im not allowed. Little miss 'tude!😂
B does this to me all the time. When he starts singing something I'll join in and he'll scream "NO!!! Not Mommy!! MY DO IT!!!!!!"
Nearing the end of tball practice. I'm planning on going to the PTA meeting though at 7 for the elementary school, so will drop the kids and switch cars with MH and go to that meeting. And miss a team meeting at 8, which I'm totally fine with bc I'm over them, thankfully it's the last group project.
Have any kids randomly learned math facts? J is suddenly reciting math and multiplication facts and we are so confused bc his teachers nor have we spent any time on this. His teacher said at lunch sometimes his table does math facts and only some know what is going on, but has never been explicitly taught. I guess there are worse lunch table discussion though😂

We're not reciting multiplication tables here, but at our year-end parent/teacher conferences B's teacher mentioned something about he enjoyed math and they'd started working on some basic addition, etc., and now I catch him doing it all the time.
Our asst. teacher this year was also the Spanish teacher, so she would 'teach'/have the kids speak in Spanish at lunch. I loved that!!
Evie learned basic math in preschool. She's constantly asking what 2+2 or whatever equals and I tell her she knows...so she needs to tell me, which she does. Or I tell her the wrong answer, so she has to correct me.
I'm like where did you learn the phrase 'times'.🤔 I feel like math is taught differently now too, so not sure how the schools do it anymore. We entertain it if he brings it up, but hopefully this is a sign he will enjoy the transition from fully play to having to learn stuff next year.
M started some math this past year, but not sure how much. I think they did some basic addition.
Hi!
Nothing but work today. Had trouble falling asleep last night, so I’m tired.
Don’t think I mentioned it, but M2 peed on the potty this weekend. He always sits on the toilet before bath and says pee pee and poop a lot, but he never actually has gone. I’m not pushing it just yet, but I guess it will soon be time to get this ball rolling. He has a lot of change coming up soon with starting a new school and moving, so I’ll wait a few weeks to focus in on that.
The girls really enjoy math so we often do it in the car or when we're waiting in line somewhere. Cassidy will add and subtract, but doesn't understand the concept of multiplication yet. Madison basically taught herself multiplication and enjoys practicing it. I told her the rules for the easy ones (1s and 0s). Plus I showed her the 9s trick with your fingers.
And math is definitely taught differently now. Madison often verbalizes how she figures out problems and I'm amazed. I was trying to add up her weekly reading times for her homework and she figured it out faster than I did.
My elementary school (private) switched to a math system at some point called Singapore math.
I know Common Core math is taught differently (from the way I learned, anyway); FL officially ditched CC this year so I’m not sure how it’s taught down home. Or here, for that matter. Guess I’ll find out in t-minus 3 months 😂
ETA: handwriting is taught differently here than back home; the letters have more ‘curves’—I don’t know how else to describe it, I guess to prepare them for cursive.
Hey. We had a lazy morning. The high is mid 80s so I might take the girls to the pool, just depends if it thunderstorms as predicted or not. I’m going to make lunch in a minute then it’s nap time.
H does some basic math, I don’t know if I’ve heard her do any multiplication or not. tallb could he be playing some sort of math game on his kindle?
Cadence does really well with the math they've learned thus far. It's just addition and subtraction, greater/less than, that sort of thing. No multiplication just yet.

He doesn't have a tablet or play any games, but I did think about peg + cat or some other shows on PBS kids may touch on it.
