I'm lounging in bed. I fed the boys breakfast then came right back to bed. Spending the day with my sil. She wants to learn to cook. And my mil has made her a terrible nervous driver.. so I called our police department and I'm allowed to drive with her so we'll see if I cant calm her down some..

I'm confused why you wouldn't be able to drive with your SIL? Mil was convinced that since she only has a permit that only her legal guardians could drive with her. I knew that was false so I called to verify. Anyone over 18 with a valid license and the parents permission can. Mil is such a bad and nervous driver and shes making sil the same way.. like I prefer my fil to drive when they have the boys. That's how jerky and terrified she is.

Morning! On our way to Belgium! At three hour ride is taking 5 hours so far because of traffic, but the kids are doing awesome. This brings back a little confidence for road tripping in the us. Hope you all have a lovely day!

peachsmama I had to have my dad teach me because my mom was a bad teacher. She had one arm on the steering will with me the first time I drove and almost put us in the ditch. Then she drove us home and told my dad I was a horrible driver. The next day he took me to the same spot. Let me drive by myself and I did fine. I think the teacher/chaperone makes a difference.

I rode with mil and sil while sil was driving. Mil was FREAKING out about did sil see this car or that car on the road. Only we weren't on the road!!! She was practicing in a completely empty parking lot... it was pure insanity.

I took private driving lessons. There were only two driving schools in our area. I learned all the wrong things (always keep one wheel on the double yellow line, it doesn’t matter how fast you’re going around a curve because centrifugal force will keep you on track, if you’re stopped at the top of a hill, put 1 foot on the gas and 1 foot on the break to make a turn, etc.). MH didn’t believe me that these were things I was taught until he hung out with my group of high school friends who all basically had to unlearn the same things I did. I also am a self-proclaimed terrible driver (not just from the lessons). I’m far too slow, hate merging, and I’m generally nervous on highways.

But that's to get your certificate so you can take the test. So she should already know what to do by the time she has to do that part. At least in Ohio that's how it works. And she has to do a class or online course.

You're supposed to do 50 hours with a licensed driver before the instructor part. 10 of that being night driving. Fil could teach her and shed be good. But he just doesnt.

I got my permit the day of my birthday, and you could take your driving test two months later — which I did.

I don't think you were allowed to have other kids in the car with you until 16. My school also offered drivers ed as a class, so I took it. The 2 guys that were in my class period never showed up, so I had all my hours done within a few weeks. I wish they still did that, less pressure on the parents.

peachsmama, sounds like you and A need to be good helpers and have her drive you everywhere. I am surprised with living in the country that she isn't used to driving ATVs or other vehicles that you see in the country. I drove a golf cart starting around 11 (and was flying a plane) so by the time I was 15/16 my parents weren't freaked out about me getting behind the wheel.

Morning! The river is rising but they forced MH to have a day off today because the lady managing is new. I wish it was over the weekend but I know conditions will be worse then. The levees are holding in his district but the river is expected to get to the 2nd highest crest and likely at the top of the levee. THere is a mandatory evacuation for the houses in his region, luckily they are mostly farmland. I think we will head down to the Arch this weekend and look at the river levels. Other than that I am just trying to get some swims in so I can destress.

Morning sexy chicks.
Julia was a champ at B’s soccer last night, we usually dont take her cause it doesn’t end until 7:15pm and that’s too late for her, both kids were so good and i appreciated it since I was on my own.
MH got home last night with a confirmed 6mm kidney stone; he ate, took a shower, popped two T3’s and passed out. He seemed to be ok but this morning when I finished getting ready he was crawling up the stairs. Seeing a 6’4 230lb man crawl up the stairs is awful, I feel so bad for him. I hope this is over soon.

Didn't you have to take a state test that would have caught some of these things? We had to do a computer test for our permit and then a driving test for license.

How is your mouth this morning tgrimes ? I hope you were able to sleep. Just some aching. One of the stitches they put in is poking me, so that's a bit annoying. I'm at work. If my coworker tells me one more time that she had all 4 of her wisdom teeth pulled by a dentist and came straight to work one more time, I may punch her in the face.

And in FL, if you took driver’s ed and got a 90+ on your final written and driving tests, you didn’t have to take them when applying for your license. I got a 93 so I just showed up on my birthday and was in and out in 5 minutes.

Morning!
I got my car back, so that is good. C is running around the house in rain boots and a 4th of July dress that just arrived, and B is begging me to drive to our friend’s to drop off some artwork he made for one of their kids.
Productivity level: low.

Morning. I was not productive with school work last night bc I was playing with chatbooks. Has anyone used them? Seems about my level of easy..I may try to make a few for Father's day.
We had all day meetings the past few days, so it's nice to sit at my desk. My friend posted that she had extra David gray tickets for tonight at the cool new venue in town and I'm bummed I can't swing it. School work is due at midnight and no sitter...and I think she's not going so I'd actually need someone to go with, so would need a sitter. Womp womp.
