I have heard it called a three point turn, as well. And I do find myself using it (not properly with directionals or anything) more so than parallel parking

I agree.  I would be hella pissed if i was driving and someone was doing a 5 pt turn just to turn around. No, keep going straight until you're not in the way. They'd absolutely get a honk from me.

ETA: the acceptance of this practice must be #regional cause that doesnt fly here

I don’t think it’s to be used when you’re driving driving. I feel like it’s used when you’re trying to leave a curb and need to go the opposite way you’re facing.

vino have you watched Suits? I know you're not a MM fan (with apologies to lahdeedah ) but it was SO, so good. It's on Netflix now, I believe.

The Crown was excellent, we watched The Bodyguard and liked that a lot, too. Not sure if any of those are 'new' to you, but I'd recommend them all.

Oh, and another one we liked is Broadchurch, it's on Netflix, also.

This.  For instance, my work is at the end of a basically dead end street.  If there are too many cars parked at the end there is no way to loop around it, so the only way for me to leave my parking spot is to make one of these turns.  Maybe it is a 3 point turn, not a 5 point turn.  Anyway, they are super common here.  I do it every day to leave work

I also do it in my driveway.  I have a long driveway that is not long enough to completely turn around in.  But it's also on a main street so I don't want to back onto the road.  So I pull to the end of my driveway where it is wider and I make one of these turns.  

Maybe it is regional.

I just started doing this in January.  It's been life changing.

It really makes a difference for me. Since I work 10 hour days in a cave without windows it helps pass the time and helps perk me up when I get bored and tired.

Today has been the annoyingist of annoying days. I have bitched more people out via email than I usually do in one week. Shipping early, not shipping at all. I just had a meeting with a new freight forwarder who asked how many containers we import a year. Our freaking international purchasing manager sat there blank faced until someone else said, I'm not sure. I don't understand how he is employed.

I should leave before I say the wrong thing to someone I work with.
