But why are there rocks and pebbles on the carpet? I think it's brought in by the kids and parents at dropoff. The door in dumps right into the preschool room. It's a small place. They vacuum everyday and i've witnessed this. I'm pretty sure DD is bored during circle time and will find anything to put in her mouth. We've got a plan to try the chew necklace again and hope that helps over the next couple of days. Ooh yea that's tough. I hope the chew necklace works. Is she bored with the curriculum in general?

So she fidgets. She's also been putting things in her mouth since was born. Literally. She came out into the world with her hand up to her mouth. lol

We added blackout shades behind the blackout curtains, and DS slept until 6:20 this morning! That's way late for him. I'd like to get back to having some quiet time in the mornings before he starts terrorizing things, so hopefully this sticks. We also got the smart lamp just to get him used to that idea. He gets so excited when it turns green, but still screams for me while it's red lol. Baby steps. Ooh I'm glad the blackout shades are helping. Does he get it when you practice with him with the lights? We practiced the first couple of nights before going to bed and I know your guy is younger than mine so it just may take more time for it to click. We did practice the first few nights and we talk about it before bed. I think the green was actually too bright this morning because he was still asleep until it came on. I'll turn it down a bit. I like the yellow light idea. We'll see what kind of sleep we can get out of him now that we have double blackout on the windows.

If you had a girl I'd tell you to not wash her hair for a while, use those special oils (teatree?), and pray, but with a boy, just shave for the summer and koko.

Can I do a buzz cut or do I have to shave him bald? A buzz would be fine, I'm sure. It's short enough that they're less likely to want to hide out.

When there's a notice from school, we always drop tea tree oil in our shampoos. Coincidence or not, we've never had them in our house.

He got it from his cousins who were visiting from England. They got it from the airplane. So you never know.

I put all the stuff in my boys’ hair when we get lice notices. No lice yet here *knocks on wood* I refuse to shave their heads 🤣 There was a case a few months ago, and the teachers were like “make sure to check him thoroughly! He plays really close with the kid who has it” our regimen is to add hair gel, curling cream, and don’t wash for a week. It gets really greasy by the end, but lice hate dirty hair

She could be looking for oral sensory input (my 4 year old was constantly putting rocks in his mouth at age 3)

I combed and looked through for any signs (which is not easy on black hair) and didn’t see anything so far.

J went to bed without his pacifier tonight. 😱
We didn’t plan on it but he didn’t ask for it while we read and before being put down so we just went with it. He sat up and looked all over his crib for it in the dark but then just laid back down and fell asleep.

I combed and looked through for any signs (which is not easy on black hair) and didn’t see anything so far. It seems super counterintuitive, but lice HATE dirty hair. They want clean hair they can move freely in. Hair that contains products or is unclean in other ways makes that very difficult for them so they avoid it and find a new head to nest on. If you don’t want to cut his hair, take hair products from you or your H and put them in his hair for the next week. My kids have midneck length, shaggy hair. I learned this trick when I was younger and my sister brought home lice many years ago- lathered myself with products and never jumped to me or my mother who did the same. Also, as told by ginger taught me the basics 🤣

I mean not that girls couldn't wear blue dinosaur shirts or anything but it's nice to see them actually acknowledging that girls who like dresses or pink or whatever also likes dinosaurs.

She could be looking for oral sensory input (my 4 year old was constantly putting rocks in his mouth at age 3) This post gave me a light bulb moment. Which is a good thing but I'm kind of kicking myself now. All the pieces are falling into place. I thought she'd grow out of it? But it's obviously not a phase. I've never had to cut her finger nails since she was like 9 months old because she bites them off. She still bites when she's angry too. I have a scar and a bruise from her biting last weekend. Not just people, clothes, objects, whatever's near. I'm going to call the pedi today and see if we can move up her appointment and push for the eval.

No my kid is definitely the demographic for pink and purple dinosaurs. We get boy things too but she gravitates towards girl stuff. So I'm glad they have that.

Request for recommendations: I need to find a straw cup for smoothies that DS can't rip the straw out and splatter smoothie everywhere. We found a Silikids cup we love with a wide silicone straw, but that thing pops right out and then he refuses to put it back in the cup.

It's not a straw cup but I liked this for smoothies/yogurts/etc. when we had it (I have no idea where it has gone and it's driving me crazy). This Contigo tumbler also looks like a good option.
