@starzia I see you lurking. How are things? Do you have any news???? Hi, yes I had DS on Sunday. He was 2 days early and I appreciated it. He was a tough pregnancy. I have a really good my family is complete feeling. All the newborn stuff is going well. I feel like I know what I’m going this time. DD loves him but it isn’t all rainbows. She’s having a hard time. I feel sad about that. My mom took a vacation this week so she’s been stopping in and being super helpful. CONGRATULATIONS! I'm glad you are feeling better and have a better handle on things this time around. I'm sorry about DD. Is it jealousy issues or just general kid roughness? Could your mom take your DD for a special day to give you a break and to make DD feel she gets focused attention too?

piratecat, I ordered the smart lamp. We've tried almost everything in the tool kit for these early AF wake times, so maybe this will be it.

We took his paci away just kind of at random. He stopped taking it at daycare, so we went cold turkey at home. He falls asleep just fine, but I almost wonder if he'd soothe himself back to sleep if he still had it. Not sure I want to poke that bear, though.

You have 3 days off and that's about how long it took for DD to figure her shit out. At the very least put a hole in it tonight.

He doesn't use one at daycare and hasn't in a long time. We sleep trained without it but for sure he only started sleeping through the night and waking at a decent hour only after giving him the pacifier at night.

And this is coming from the person who was team binkies until she went to college. But then it started fucking with her teeth so it had to go.

We had to go cold turkey with DS2 (the hole thing didn’t work nor did reducing time with it), and it was a very brutal 10 nights

That's what we did. Took it away for the car and then for bedtime.

Also I always thought his language was pretty far along but then the pediatrician said strangers should be able to understand 50% of his speech and I was like HM not sure about that. He has a lot of vocabulary and is good at stringing words/sentences together but I think his pronunciation is not that great. Anyway, I'm not that concerned and neither was she (he was too shy to say anything to her) but it was interesting.

piratecat, DS won't ever talk to the pedi either. He just watches him really carefully with his "serious eyebrows," as we've dubbed them.

gingy, he likes her a lot (we do too, she's awesome) so he smiles at her a lot but won't answer any of her questions. It's funny to see him so reserved because he is not like that at home at all.

Could your mom take your DD for a special day to give you a break and to make DD feel she gets focused attention too? Thank you. I think it’s age appropriate changes plus being a little jelly. Tantrums and big reactions to little injuries that started now basically. Also she is a brute and it’s challenging. I do not want to yell at her every time she is near the baby. My husband is sorta doing that. I don’t think it’s helpful. I talked to him about it and am trying to be an example on how to react. Also I’m realizing that he still treats her like a baby. He’s carrying her everywhere and she is such a big girl I don’t carry her at all. But maybe she needs it right now. My mom wants to take her to a petting zoo Sunday and let me stay home. Which sounds awesome to me. Today I spent almost all day with her while my mom got the baby snuggles. At 6 am was rough. She sleeps through all of his noise until 6 so far. So at 6 he’s crying and hungry and she’s crying and hungry and she is PISSED that I’m holding him and throws a fit. Normally such a daddy’s girl. Nope daddy can’t help she wants ME. I feel bad. It's been less than a week so give yourself some grace here. You'll all fall into a routine but it may take some time. Please don't feel bad. You're doing the best you can and your DD is still young so she won't even remember this. I do agree yelling isn't the best course of action, but I'm a yeller myself so I don't have much advice there. Enjoy your Sunday at home. That sounds wonderful!

sheilathetank, I'm glad that your daycare seems to be on top of it. Parenting is hard and I'm not ready for it to get harder.

Same. Even at the store around perfect strangers, he'll tell anyone and everyone hi, give them "boom" (fist bump), and sing songs. The pedi we've known since he was 3 days old? Nah. We'll just clam up around him.

I finally got a call from the new pedi office to set up Keira's appointment. They didn't put me with the dr. that was recommended to me which I think I'm ok. They set up the appointment as a "weight check" since she's already had a physical in the last few months. At least we're a step in the right direction.

We added blackout shades behind the blackout curtains, and DS slept until 6:20 this morning! That's way late for him. I'd like to get back to having some quiet time in the mornings before he starts terrorizing things, so hopefully this sticks.
We also got the smart lamp just to get him used to that idea. He gets so excited when it turns green, but still screams for me while it's red lol. Baby steps.

Guess who got to call daycare today because they are concerned about her eating rocks/pebbles off the carpet during circle time?
I can't make this shit up.

Does he get it when you practice with him with the lights? We practiced the first couple of nights before going to bed and I know your guy is younger than mine so it just may take more time for it to click.

But why are there rocks and pebbles on the carpet? I think it's brought in by the kids and parents at dropoff. The door in dumps right into the preschool room. It's a small place. They vacuum everyday and i've witnessed this. I'm pretty sure DD is bored during circle time and will find anything to put in her mouth. We've got a plan to try the chew necklace again and hope that helps over the next couple of days.

gingy, also, I don't know if this actually helps, but I turn the light to yellow before it turns green so he knows it's not time to wake up yet but it's getting close. So because his wake up times have been so erratic, the first couple of mornings I adjusted the wake up time so it was only like 5 or 10 minutes after he woke up (when the light was yellow) so he wouldn't have to wait so long and feel successful. Nowadays he just seems so relaxed playing quietly in the crib while he waits for the green light.
