Does anyone else follow @theroyalfiles? She has two very interesting stories up about who the Gloucesters and Kents are in the royal family.

Clearly Meghan and Harry got the better end of that state dinner.

Why are all the kids going? It is always the president/king/head of state and partner. The Palace is also wondering why Trump invited all his kids. It’s not typical. He just decided they were coming.

Ugh I know they can't give their political opinions but I would LOVE it if they refused to meet with the Trump family or even just refused to give them a state banquet. As an American, I would 1000% support that kind of stance against the Trump family. A girl can dream. Charles did his best the last time Trump visited and was “busy” or something. Now this time he has to host him for tea.

Harry is at the Sentebale Polo Cup today in Rome. He will be playing later.

Perfect timing for Meghan. I bet Kate’s wishing she had an excuse right now because she’s totally going to get stuck talking to Ivanka all night Don’t they normally alternate men and women at dinner too? Which means she will likely be stuck between two of the Trump sons/Kushner. And that sounds at least equally vile to small talk with Ivanka. It might even be worse. Sounds awful. There’s not a single good option

I'm rather disappointed in Tiffany. As far as I could tell (and admittedly, living in Australia limits my exposure to coverage by quite a bit) I thought she was not involved in the her Dad's business as President. I mean I would definitely be there for a chance to meet the Queen & Prince Charles, but still, I thought she was not a part of the nightmare that is this presidency. She gave a speech on his behalf at the 2016 RNC. She's been in college/ law school for most of his campaign and presidency, but she's definitely involved.

I also just recalled- didn’t Trump say previously he tried very hard to “get with” or date Diana, post-divorce from Charles? Or something like that? If I’m remembering correctly that would make meeting with him even more infuriating for William.

Is he bringing his family so he can think of them as the American royal family or something? I know his kids have political aims after their dad is done...

Someone who was in a policy meeting with him said he was as dumb and awful as we imagine and that she is convinced he is going to run for office himself.

The injustice of them getting this great event is so disgusting. I'm struggling to reconcile that the Palace is just, like, "Well yep. Bring the whole family. We'll have a party!" But then again the monarchy has its own racism problem and I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

After her death he did an interview with Howard Stern, where he claimed he could've "nailed her" but said he would've made her take an HIV test first.

This event is already off to a classy start, I see. How does he not have people telling him how to behave like a normal human?? Can you imagine if Obama brought along his extended adult family? Goodness. (Of course he would never. Because BO is a normal human being)

Maybe Kate is only going so she can tell Trump he's a fucker face to face.
I imagine the queen said something like "look bitches, if I have to host him again, all of y'all will be joining me in my misery."

They were minors at the time, so I wouldn't be nearly as pearl clutchy, as someone upthread mentioned about not caring about bringing his youngest son. The older, adult children (which just sounds funny) are definitely head tilt worthy.

But don't remember the girls bring there.

Remember the royal family can’t be political. The government invited them so the palace has to receive them. Trump was pissy last time that he didn’t get a big state dinner. Now he’s getting one. And yeah, he’s talked about how he was going to nail Diana and about Kate’s boobs. So I can’t imagine any one is jazzed to meet him.

Sasha and Malia didn't attend the state visit when the Obama's had one but they did meet the Queen when they went to London and had a private tour of Buckingham palace. Apparently the Queen really likes the Obama family, remember the Michelle breaking protocol incident and put her arm around Queeny? And the Queen hugged her right back.
