The curtsy gets me every time. It’s so silly. Like let me kiss granny oops now curtesy I don’t think it was an oops curtesy. I think the greeting is supposed to be that way (even if it looks silly). If you watch William, he does the double cheek kiss and then immediately afterwards he bows his head. Kate then does the double kiss, immediately followed by the quick curtesy. I generally don’t like bowing or curtsying. Seems so....hierarchical and....what’s the word I’m looking for....classist? |

I came to being a royal watcher out of being a big fan of Kate's (and now Meghan's as well). I have a strange push pull with the royals. On the one hand I find Kate's life with William to be pretty fascinating but on the other, I can't say that I really believe that royalty, as it has historically been practiced and revered for centuries, should exist in 2019. It's a huge anachronism. I just fundamentally find the idea that a person is superior to others due to his bloodline to be pretty repellent. I think the BRF has been trying to downplay that part of it for a while but obviously they can't get rid of it altogether because that's how it works. That's the linchpin that makes it function. So it's kind of problematic, especially when highlighted visually with things like curtsying or bowing to senior royals. |

I really love how no matter what Maxima is wearing, her H's tie always coordinates. I know that's probably their stylists doing, but I like to think it's actually them behind the scenes saying to do it.
