Where does Mountbatten come from?
I am meh on Archie. It sounds like a NN. But itβs obviouslu better than like... Archibald.

Mountbatten-Windsor is the personal surname for male line descendants of HM & PP without royal styles and titles. Some titled royals have chosen to use it when in need of a surname.

I love the family pic! If they love Archie, I love it for them. I probably would have went with Archer because the the rest of the names are so strong, but Iβm a nobody sooo....

Iβm not a fan of Archie, but like Harrison.
George recently introduced himself as Archie leading to speculation that that is his nickname. I guess that theory is off.

I love that picture of the Queen--look how happy she looks!. I'm looking forward to Meghan making her eventual return to public life and maybe having more engagements with the Queen---I feel like there has been an obvious chemistry there of mutual affection.

Adorable baby. Archie is NMS but I like Harrison for a middle name. I'm surprised he has no title at all. I wasn't really expecting Prince, but I'm surprised at nothing.

I love the name and I love love love the picture of all of them!!
I would guess that Archie will be Lord or Earl Somebody at some point in his life. Maybe when he gets married?

I love Archie as a NN, but to have that as the official name? To me, itβs a name that is great for kids and grandpas. Give the kid a formal name he can choose to use professionally/as an adult. For reference, I love calling my kid Tommy but he can always choose Tom/Thomas later. Or he can be Tommy for life. But he has options.

I love nicknames in general but Archie as the full name is bold when youβre royalty.

This is such a British thing IMO. We knew so many babies named Johnny and Alfie and Freddie and names like that and those were their full names, not nicknames.

I would have preferred a full name like Archer with the NN Archie. Or Theodore. But Archie is cute

Master Archie!!!
I love it. Who needs a title if they're going to refer to you as "Master Archie"? So freaking cute.

Random hypothetical question (probably for ArielMermaid) If Charles were to die before the queen, Archie will never have been the grandchild of a sovereign, just the great grandchild and then nephew. So then, would that completely erase the opportunity to obtain HRH?

I think Spencer was a lost middle name opportunity. How cute is Archie Spencer?
ETA I think Archie is pretty adorable.

I wonder if this choice is because Harry is really a Henry who has gone by Harry all of his life.
