Yeah that's some bullshit. The 50k won't really help me, but if we let that stop it from helping the vast majority of borrowers that would be ridiculous. And cruel. I'm bummed for me, but I can be thrilled for everyone else.

Was thrilled to see Warren's policy goal to forgive student debt. Could so easily use that extra money a month. It's capped at $50k which is awesome for the vast majority of borrowers. Just made me bummed. I will never not be paying student loan debt. Yeah. I felt a little guilty for thinking the $50k cap and the income limits were too low. I get that I'm privileged in a million ways. But student loans are the reason I don't own a house. Completely understand.

I just paid off the last of my loans a few months ago. I would never not support Warren’s policy because I didn’t get to benefit from it, because I am not an asshole.
I hope to god this passes. I was lucky. I know others are not, and really need this help.

Sounds like that Caucus call was a doozy NEWS: Rep. Val Demings (D-Fla.), Judiciary member, said this on the House Dem call just now, sources tell me & @heatherscope >> “We are struggling to justify why we aren’t beginning impeachment proceedings.” (thread) I really think they're starting to lean this way.

I worked my ass off to pay off my loans by 25 but I am absolutely in a privileged position to had gotten many scholarships due to my grades and poor parents, and a great paying job just before the recession. I was driven but also very lucky. I 100% support helping those who still have loans, or my children in the future. I couldn’t believe how much out of state tuition that a parent of senior my husband knows is looking to spend next year.

So I was reading more about Warren's plan and it is interesting. Once an individual makes over $100,000 the amount they'd have forgiven is reduced in proportion of 1:3. So if you make $130k you are only forgiven $40k. Over $250k you receive no forgiveness.makes sense.
I have an idea for people like me (six figures of debt but salary well under $100k) that I think would be beneficial. If you qualify for an income based repayment plan, it means your debt far exceeds your income and ability to pay. Making my payments for 25 years means I will have paid my loans back and some interest, but I will also still have about $500k in accumulated interest by then. Right now that will be "forgiven" but count against my taxes as income. Meaning I will have a substantial tax bill to deal with. All based of accumulated interest. My interest rate was 4% when I took the loans but when I had to consolidate for IBR the interest jumped to 7.5%. that's obscene. So why not just forgive that amount and not count it as income for tax purposes. I'm still paying back my loans but not burdened for life with tax bills I won't be able to afford without destroying my retirement.

I did not know this. I don’t know if it’s because PA isn’t my home state or if I didn’t pay attention as a young voter but I am 😱. Surprised not surprised because I’m currently in one of the worst gerrymandered areas that was recently redone but yikes. Is this common in other states?

This is a thing where I live in Michigan, too. Because judicial appts and school board member are supposed to be non-partisan, they do not have a political designation. One really has to do their homework to know who to vote for, often made difficult by the lack of written material available to read on the candidates. It's a big problem that perpetuates the cycle of "people who know the right people" being placed in positions of power.

Ok so mcgahn already testified to Mueller and they didn’t claim executive privilege so it will become a court battle
Sigh. This is such bullshit and not how an innocent person acts

Today just felt like a whole lot of pushing back to prove the administration doesn't have to follow rules. I am now firmly in the camp of starting impeachment proceedings and to start pushing back hard on all these missed deadlines and court challenges.
