I was more into Thousand Island than Catalina. Still don’t know the difference though. Thousand Islands is still my guilty pleasure dressing.

Did anyone else have a park like this near them? Ours was exactly like this and so much fun. By fun, I also mean slivers and wasps This was the playground at the rich town. We would get McDonald’s and take it there because we don’t have the hamburglar jails.

And in the continued questionable eating adventures of my pre-Connecticut life, there is another place in Pittsburgh called Eat N Park and I used to get iceberg lettuce with catalina dressing and I felt so sophisticated eating salads. Eat n Park is still around. And hasn't changed a bit. I never realized you were from the Burgh

I don’t know Schwans. Am I rich? Or poor? You're east. Schwans is midwest. I only know that because one of my bffs used to work for them, no real clue what they actually do 🤷♀️

I always laugh about the stories I have that you all think are great, because I'm like "wasn't everyone an insecure 8th grader just wishing someone would kiss them" and by natural extension, why wouldn't you create cross-stitch projects to give to the dirty boys you'd think you might have a shot with? I also had a crush on a dirty boy. He wore flannel and had a wallet chain. He was a year ahead of me and had a blonde girlfriend. After months (weeks? Who knows) of obsessing, I approached him in front of many of his friends and asked if I could take his picture. I terrified him. He practically ran away from me

The monthly Schwan’s delivery was the highlight of my childhood. I lived for those Flinstones push pops. Me too Poof

When I worked, the tell that I was hungover was when I went to the deli and got a turkey and Swiss on wheat with Thousand Island or Russian dressing. When you feel like garbage, it’s so good.

brux I’d like to think that somewhere out there in the World Wide Web, a guy named Wheels is on his favorite message board, in a thread about the most surprising gift you’ve ever received, and he’s all “lemme tell you about this chick and her cross-stitching”.

We used to camp at a lake (dubbed McLake) that used to be an abandoned (?) McDonald's summer camp. It had an area with all that kid equipment. I'll spoiler OMG

Only rich families bought from the Schwanns truck.

Eat n Park is still around. And hasn't changed a bit. I never realized you were from the Burgh There's an Eat n Park in Somerset that has a giant elephant in the parking lot. We eat there on the way to and from visits to my parents. And then stop at the Turkey Hill for ice cream and lemonade for the road. Eat n Park does an ok breakfast, but then that's the easiest meal IMO.

OK, I thought of one. I thought you were rich if your house had one of those intercom systems in it.

Arby's Sauce on their roast beef is catalina dressing. Mystery unveiled. (arby's is blech but that sauce is decent)

The ingredients are similar to bbq sauce but more sugar, I think. I must clarify, I am not an Arby's expert...I just really liked that sauce when I was a kid and my mom and I did some investigating to find out what it was. If you google the ingredients for each, they are almost identical. There is no "smoke" flavor in either, which is pretty typical in BBQ sauce. It would be closer to a Carolina style bbq sauce but not quite that either. The only redeeming quality of Arby's is the horsey sauce in packets. I will hoard that for real food.

Me too! I don’t have one close to me anymore, but their mozzarella sticks were some of the best I’ve ever had. Pair that with a Beef N Cheddar with extra Arby’s sauce and Horsey sauce 😍

Also these bad boys that would burn your hands off and fling you into the ground without mercy. So fun. So fun. When it was deemed too dangerous for the local school playground it was moved to my in-law's back yard. You know, so their grandkids can play on it until someone is either crying, puking, or flying off.

You know, so their grandkids can play on it until someone is either crying, puking, or flying off. We had one like this. We'd have the K-4 kids sit backward on the outside and hold on until they flew off. Those of us in 5th & 6th would get in the middle and push it until they all fell off. Sometimes the teachers helped. The 80's were a magical time.

I just decided when I turn 40, I’m having an 80s and 90s nostalgia party.
