I saw this last week and it made me laugh and say OMG YES! When you were a kid, what made you think someone was rich?

If someone lived in a two story house and/or drove a Japanese car, I would go to sleep at night hoping they'd adopt me.

I grew up in a silly rich area, so my view was skewed AF.
Either having your dad be the president of the company we visited on a field trip, hosting the vice president for dinner, or something similar.
Maybe living on the lake, but there were lots of those.

Multiple-storied homes where each kid gets a theme decorated bedroom. Wallpaper. Trips to amusement parks and movie theatres. Swimming pools. English cottage-y landscaping like topiaries or really flat hedges.

My parents owned a Sears catalog store that my mom kept after their divorce, & my Grandfather owned a self named tire shop, & so I thought we actually were the wealthy folks. Look at us with all our family owned businesses!
And then around 11 or 12 I learned what bankruptcy actually was & figured out why my mom decided to live with my grandparents for so long while I was growing up.

Those side by side refrigerators with the ice in the door was a big one for me. 😂
Also, if my friends had good snacks all the time. Like pudding cups, dunkaroos, chips, etc. We weren't deprived at all, but my mom only bought that stuff if she had a coupon.

If I went to your house, and your parents took us out for either ice cream or McDonald’s you were rich AF.
See also if your family went on vacation.

I don't know about from childhood; I'll have to think about that... More recently: Our kitchen has two pantry closets and, when we moved in last fall, I was all excited and said to Mh, "OMG I always wanted to be a person who could hide their trashcan in a closet." And now I am. #madeit

Having an ensuite or even more than one bathroom, going to Disney and a kid having their own phone line. 😂 Yes! "Hold on, let me click over and call her..."

elodin LOL yes to the snacks. Any snacks we did have like that (gushers, dunkaroos, etc) were strictly for school so I was even more blown away when kids could just go in and grab what they wanted when they wanted.

Little kid me would not even believe I could put a toaster or coffee pot there if I wanted.

Omg I had a neighborhood friend who's mom would take us to McDonald's and I thought they must be rolling in it. Spoiler: We all lived in a trailer park.

Anyone who went on vacation on a plane.
People who got clothes year-round. I remember when I started working at American Eagle there was a mom and daughter that came in seasonally and spent $300-$400 on new clothes. That was mind-bending.
Kids who got to eat sugar cereal! My mom would mix, like, Cheerios and Lucky Charms. It's as bad as it sounds.
Individual pop cans - we were a 2-liter house.
Anyone in an activity not associated with the rec center, like gymnastics, dance or other sports.
