Kids who got to eat sugar cereal! My mom would mix, like, Cheerios and Lucky Charms. It's as bad as it sounds. Oh, you got name brand and not store brand in a bag? Rich ass beatch. We still buy the bag stuff.

I couldn't believe there were some kids who could go out to dinner with their parents and the kids (like teenagers) could order appetizer, dinner, dessert, whatever they wanted!
Or, you ordering your own meals at some places as opposed to 'family style' - like the taco boxes from taco bell, a 20 piece nugget from McDonalds, getting a cheesesteak from a pizzeria instead of just a pizza everyone would eat.

We still buy the bag stuff. It could have been a bag, my mom put it all in a giant container. We could also only have ONE bowl. I thought this was for health reasons, but my mom would also make Cream of Wheat and we would put a layer of sprinkles on top. So obviously it was because cereal is expensive!

Oh yes, we were only allowed to order water. Of course that's what I order most of the time now.

I'm laughing at the McDonald's thing. We went out to eat fairly regularly and not at like chain restaurants. I could always order whatever I wanted. But McDonald's on the way to swim at my friend's Mom-moms house was a sure sign of $$$$.

Going on vacation via plane.
Going to sit-down restaurants on a regular basis, not just on birthdays.

In elementary: Families that made more than $100,000 a year.
Families with swimming pools (above ground counted).
Kids who had the latest and coolest shoes and jackets.
Families who travelled to Disney World annually.
I got a full scholarship to a private HS, so these views changed rapidly when I hit 9th grade. Having a private family jet and more than one vacation home were much better indicators. 😂
ETA: Flying on an airplane too! I didn’t fly until I was 16 yo and I paid my own ticket for that flight.

This girl I went to grade school with had a dad who owned his own optometry practice. They had a stuffed grizzly bear in their den. To this day, I believe she is the richest person I have ever met because of that.

Really, if your parents were in the medical field or owned a car dealership I assumed you were very much out of my social league.

As a teen, if your parents bought you a celica, cabriolet or Mitsubishi eclipse.
I lived that Dodge Aries life and was grateful for it.

As a teen, if your parents bought you a celica, cabriolet or Mitsubishi eclipse. I lived that Dodge Aries life and was grateful for it. My best friend in high school was not wealthy at all. Her first car was going to be an old beat up Volvo. Then her mom started dating this rich dude and he bought my friend a brand new Eclipse. I was sooooooo jealous. And also her mom must have had some amazing vagina energy.
