Maybe it's because I'm excessively childish, but I am getting a huge kick out of the Devin Nunes' Cow on Twitter. There's some good comic relief there. IRT the opiod rx, some of you have ridiculously liberally prescribing doctors. When I had my gallbladder out in December, I was given 3 days worth of Tylenol 3. On day 3 post-op, I had to practically beg for day 4 meds. It was all ibuprofen after that. I wasn't offered more than one days worth after my first csection when I left the hospital. I had an issue with my stitches and had to go into my OB like two days after I got home to beg for more. I was given I think three or four days worth after my second and I didn't use them all.

dc2london , how did things shake out with your DS yesterday afternoon? If you updated elsewhere, I apologize. the doctor said everything looked good physically, but she was really upset on his behalf. I still have heard nothing from the school. So. NEAT.

This is crazy. In Portugal, I had a drip of some opioid for 30 hours after my csection and then I was only given Tylenol and ibuprofen every 6 hours. Like that's when I was still in the hospital. Nothing stronger than that was ever offered to me. It is a very different culture wrt pain.
I got an antibiotic drip and 600 mg of ibuprofen three times a day after my C-sections. That was it. After the third one I kind of wanted more because I was really in pain, but when I asked, they just upped my ibuprofen another 200 mg.
And holy crap, all of your stories about even the "easy" health insurance cases or the "good" health insurance plans that only have $4000 deductibles a year are freaking me out. I've always said that health insurance is one major reason I don't think I would consider moving back to the US, but after reading this thread I think that's a certainty. I can't believe you have to pay all of that on top of your premiums and co-pays. Seriously, I know I'm preaching to the choir, but socialized medicine is (or at least can be) awesome.
our deductible is $6k/person or $12k/family ::SOOOBBBBBBB::

Sometimes I regret not working in the private sector, but then health insurance discussions pop up and I realize how sweet a deal I have as a county employee. We have a $1500 per person deductible. Junie's birth last year was just over 1k OOP.

They would be wrong. Six year olds ganging up on each other is a BFD. I'm just horrified it happened - extra hugs to the little guy.

I knew I was lucky, but reading everyone's insurance situations makes me realize just how incredibly lucky that my individual deductible is $500 and our family deductible is $1250. And MH's employer does a 100% contribution for insurance for our entire family. It's a serious unicorn situation. Health insurance in this country is so messed up. It shouldn't be unequal like this.

and I know he's my kid, but Minerva can attest that he's a very sweet, genuine, pure kid. He's the human embodiment of a Labrador puppy. So it just makes it extra horrible.

Man I miss 500 deductibles.
Ours are 3000/in 9000/family
My employer insurance pays 100% employee med/den/vision and about 60% for dependents in premiums. So its not a complete horror show. Plus dependent visits for most things are zero copay, not just well checks up to 18. Flu swab, counseling (in network), I'm not sure about a broken arm but I would assume all follow up visits are covered.
I assume this is because our home office is in Colorado because it wasn't this way before our merger and we had a good plan then as well.
The problem is tying health insurance to employment. Just like tying life insurance. its a golden handcuff situation.

dc2london, was this at school? or regular playground? I would be at the school sitting in the lobby until someone spoke with me. I would also put my concerns in writing and email it to all of admin prior to me getting to the school. I don't give a fuck. Your DS knows not to put his hands on people, at minimum he should expect the same respect and I would need to know what was going to happen to ensure it never happened again. I would also make it clear that if my DS decided to defend himself let's keep that same nonchalant energy bitch.

And I would totally stage a sit in in the school office but I would have to drag a sick two year old with me. Bitch has about an hour though before I just stomp over there.

One perk of being a fed is that we do have a pretty kickass insurance plan. I paid $0 to have my second- all OB visits, hospital, ultrasounds, testing, etc. It still confounds me. And we paid shockingly little for my husband's SCA event and 2 week ICU stay. But yes, golden handcuff.

So 45 is showing actual maps of troop movements by holding up a map of Syria and pointing to a 'spot' of ISIS that still exists and will be gone tonight.
Yeah this is COMPLETELY NORMAL

I am shocked and mad that they haven’t gotten back to you yet. No six year old should have bullies. Random playground scuffles may happen from time to time, but there has been escalation and singling out here. The school needs to be taking it very seriously and figuring out why it is happening in that classroom to shut it down. Poor R. No kid should be afraid of going to school, especially in kindie.
