I saw it last night. I loved it! I was not familiar with Captain Marvel in anyway so I had no comic vs movie expectations. I loved how gloriously 90s it was. I was entertained the entire time. I didn’t feel like there was a slow spot. I thought Brie Larson was great. I loved having a smaller group of characters to follow again. I love the Avengers movies but sometimes with all the characters I miss being able to focus on the growth of a single character or the dynamics between two. It made me super excited for Endgame again.
I can’t wait to see it again.

Mh was so excited when Just A Girl came on. You would have thought he was at an actual No Doubt concert.

We just saw it today. I loved it! I kinda hope we end up seeing Monica again, she was both cute and smart, and with role models like her mom and Auntie Carol you know she’ll grow up into an awesome woman!

I feel like I need a full history of the Kree now though. How does what we saw of the Kree in Agents of Shield fit into what we’ve seen with Guardians and now Captain Marvel? I know I could map it all out, but if someone on the internet has already done it, that’s way easier!

They totally laid the groundwork for that potential with her comment about building a spaceship so I hope she returns too. Mh says in the comic books Monica actually becomes Captain Marvel for awhile?

I would love to see Monica again, she would be old enough maybe we'll see her in Endgame even. I am going to comb through Tumblr and see if I can find more Kree history. I am V V behind on AoS and its been forever since Ive seen any of it.

I enjoyed that there was no romantic sub plot as well.

Also I am dead at how Fury lost his eye. Which makes his comment of "the last time I trusted someone I lost an eye" freaking HILARIOUS.

I thought they also did a nice job making the movie feel 90s. Watching that loading pop up when they were listening to the black box tooko me right back.

Looking at you, trolls who tried to tank this movie...

I saw it on Saturday morning. I purposely avoided reviews, press, and interviews because I am tired of people crapping on other people’s enjoyment. I throughly enjoyed it, and want to go see it again.
Also, someone help me out: there were four Skrull who crashed on Earth. One was autopsied, one was shot after imitating Vers, and Talos. Where is the fourth? Did I miss a death?

I loved that it was a fun movie - no crazy sub plots, not too hard to follow, only about two hours long. You could take an 8-10 yo and they’d understand and enjoy it. I think the non-neck ward critics are forgetting that not everything NEEDS to be Infinitely War. I feel like people are overly critical of the newer Star Wars movies as well. These are intended to be FUN. They’re not just “for the serious fans.”
I have been listening to No Doubt on repeat since seeing it 😂

I also thought of Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark at that point. So nice when something can be multi-level. Just shoot the guy!

They’re not just “for the serious fans.” I have been listening to No Doubt on repeat since seeing it 😂 Not that I'm knowledgeable about the MCU (I grew up on DC and can recite the original of the LSH from back in the day), but the friend I went with had only a very base knowledge. She knows Ironman but kind of thought Wonder Woman was somehow in the Avengers. But - she thoroughly enjoyed Captain Marvel and was pretty much able to follow the story. That said, for the slightly knowledgeable like me, and probably even more true MCU gurus, I think there were tons of references that made the story even richer. Of course, now I'm wondering if Howard Stark just handed Marvell the tesseract, or they worked together, or what. Also wondering if Carol Danvers, who would have probably learned about Captain America's WWII exploits in school, will be at all surprised to meet him down the road. I also loved that all the women, and men, were dressed like, well, people. Sure, everyone pretty much looked great, but I appreciated no plunging necklines, and even the tight uniforms looked like working gear to me.

Where is the fourth? Did I miss a death? Was it the science officer Skrull? I assumed he made it onto the ship with with Talos. I felt like the one who was shot for being Vers had a different face than the science officer. Now I’m thinking about it and I’m not sure. Obviously I need to watch it again asap to confirm.

So, any thoughts as to why there seemed to be a lot of emphasis on the little Skrull girl, Talos' daughter? I read one fan theory that they think she ends up being Nebula? I'm planning on seeing the movie again either late this week or early next week.

That makes sense. I guess none of them had names so it was hard to keep track since they took other forms.

I'm planning on seeing the movie again either late this week or early next week. That’s interesting. I could see that. I also read that she might be Queen Veranke, who is an antagonist in the Secret Invasion comics. Which doesn’t mean much to me since I don’t follow the comics. I wonder if this is a spot that they may veer from the comics to make the MCU make sense. comicbook.com/marvel/2019/03/10/captain-marvel-might-have-revealed-the-true-villain-of-secret-in/

I saw it Friday night and loved it! It's definitely in my top 5 Marvel movies. I loved the 90's feel, the acting and the relationship between Marvel and Fury. It was a blast to watch!
