Weren't there rumors of Mueller dropping his report this week? Not that we'll see it for a while...

This is part ofwhy we need to accept climate change as a society, so we can also invest in research to mitigate effects. Though with this process I wonder how long before people would've tying to use that coal for cheap energy again.

This depends on a lot of factors like how much energy is actually needed to do this conversion (as someone in the comments pointed out - if they're getting the electricity to do this from coal plants, then essentially they're negating the positive effects - but I say if they're getting it from sustainable sources like solar power, then you've potentially got a net positive effect), but I'm willing to at least entertain the idea that this could essentially turn coal into a renewable energy source. And *if* (that's a big if) we needed minimal amounts of solar power to convert the atmospheric CO2 into solid coal that is then used in coal power plants, we could still end up with positive effects for the atmosphere as a whole. Probably not so much for people living close to the coal plants, though.
ETA: My best guess, though, is that the amount of atmospheric CO2 that can be converted would be less than the amount the same coal would put out if burned. So we really would need to invest in solar/hydro/etc power to convert the CO2 for the purpose of saving the atmosphere, not for turning coal into a renewable energy source.

File this under stuff we "knew", but now officially know: Trump directed Cohn to pressure Justice Department to block AT&T/Time Warner merger to retaliate against CNN:

"The president does not understand the nuances of antitrust law"
um... I think maybe he doesn't understand even the basic idea of it because just with my vague understanding I realize this is not ok.

Fox News is the worst, story at 11:
ETA: In my uncaffeinated state I didn't realize this is the same story linked to above. Basically Jane Mayer at NYer is showing just how f'ing in Trump's pocket Fox News is. So gross.

Another factor would be how much water this process takes.

I can't link it, but apparently some high school kids at a party in Newport Beach made a swastika out of red solo cups and saluted. Deep in the heart of Orange County. Horrible humans.

NGL, I do wonder how many of those record breaking donations to Sanders2020 came from Republicans salivating at the thought of him being the nominee.
I mean I know he has tons of supporters but. I still wonder.

ND State football team visiting the WH - they're getting fast food. Fargo and Grand Forks have recently gotten Chik Fil A so this has to be extra disappointing to them.
