Tom Udall and Rand Paul were just on with Tapper stating there are at least 10 republicans who are willing to sign on to the denial of the emergency declaration. I'll believe it when I see it. I'd believe it. Mitch will let just enough who want to give themselves a little distance from Trump vote yes without getting to the point where they would have the #s needed for a veto override that would set up any sort of confrontation with the WH. I think that's up to 19? Math is not my strong suit.

I have seen this here and there but mainly more conservative sources and I don't really follow Canadian politics enough to have a good handle on what's going on. Canadians! Help explain please.

This was a good article on AOC, especially this. I cannot imagine the rage she felt (speaking of 45). “He is such a small, mediocre person,” she told me. “I grew up with a real romanticism about America. I grew up in a first-generation household where your parents give up everything, and for me America was the greatest thing ever to exist. To be there on the floor of the House was beyond anything my parents would have ever dreamed of. But the person behind the podium was so unskilled. It was kind of sad.” www.newyorker.com/news/daily-comment/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-is-coming-for-your-hamburgers

Yeah, it bothered me to see Trump tweeting about this news. His administration has cut a lot of funding that goes to research health issues and diseases.

They talk about it on the bonus Pod Save The World if you listen to that. There's also an awesome Ben Rhodes rant in the same episode so I highly recommend it.

Wow, that's a new level of disgusting. They're trying to defend it by saying that the Women's Defense League has been passing out pearls since 2016. Just... ok, even if they were given the pearls... the optics of this are staggeringly terrible. Particularly since Scott Wallace was wearing a fucking pin of an assault rifle on his lapel at the same time.

So, I keep seeing this argument that nobody will try to primary Trump bc he has 87% support among Republican voters. But has anyone seen polling that asks voters to chose between Trump and another Republican? Bc I'm not really bothered by "Trump vs President AOC" polling among the 80 year olds who still answer their landlines at dinner time

Is that more fake news?

She is VERY ADAMANT that children are not being put in cages.
Rep Bennie is NOT having it. We've both seen it, quit denying it.

I have seen this here and there but mainly more conservative sources and I don't really follow Canadian politics enough to have a good handle on what's going on. Canadians! Help explain please. My very loose understanding of this is that the Justice Minister at the time was looking at prosecuting the engineering company - SNC-Lavelin for bribery and such. She is alleging that the Prime Ministers office pressured her to negotiate a plea deal with them because they give the Liberal party money. When she did not do that, she was demoted to a “lesser” cabinet - Veteran Affairs, out of retaliation. The PMO and his former advisor who is testifying today have said they asked her to consider a plea deal instead of a conviction because of the number of jobs at stake (a conviction would prevent them from bidding on foreign contracts). Butts (hee hee) said today that he did not know she had made up her mind to prosecute until her testimony last week and the cabinet shuffle and change was not in relation to this. My unsolicited opinion is that there is likely truth somewhere in the middle and a lot of this seems to be perception. I also don’t quite get why it’s become the giant deal it’s become. It seems a bit to idealistic and in the end, even with a new Justice Minister, a decision to prosecute or not (as far as I can tell) has not even happened. So, if they were really pushing it, I would’ve assumed it would’ve happened by now. It does however seem like it’s blowing up the govt and the Liberal party and I’m very nervous about the alternatives for our election in the fall. *disclaimer that I could be wrong about the details because I do seem to have an unpopular opinion about it.
