I changed my password although I can’t for the life of me figure out why anyone would just change my profile picture. I’m totally keeping the llama now though. That is very weird.

I am not invested enough to care what Camilla is called (and I love the Royal Family). My British MIL and SIL don't care if she is called Queen, and I get that feeling from a lot of people I know in the UK, but they also don't seem to care as much as Americans do. I hope Diana found happiness for the years she was alive without Charles. The sons seem to like Camilla and everyone seems happy and I guess that's enough for me, not what happened 30 plus years ago. No family is perfect.

Of all the fuckery the monarchy has ever had I don’t think they’ve ever denied the wife of the sovereign the title of Queen 🤷♀️ And there has been a lot of fuckery. QEII didn't even make Phillip a Prince right away 🤷♀️ Same with Prince Albert. It took Victoria 17 years to make Albert Prince Consort. She actually wanted to make him King Consort though and Parliament wouldn't approve it. The husband of the Queen isn’t the same though. They don’t get to be King.

Question: were you using an image code/url for your original profile picture? I know some places reuse the generated URLs. It was a problem on some forum where people had used photobucket or the like to post pictures.

The husband of the Queen isn’t the same though. They don’t get to be King. Right, but wives of kings aren't really queens either Yeah, but the difference is in the (misogynistic and sexist) perception that king >>> queen. So when the Queen is the true sovereign, they often avoid giving the title of king (consort) to their spouse as then the perception of who's in charge could change. With a King who is the true sovereign, there's no concern that the spouse's title would up stage their's, so there's generally been no debate about calling them queen (consort).

One thing to keep in mind with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip: his titles were very controversial.
He had to renounce his Greek titles (including Prince) in order to get British citizenship. QEII wanted to give him a title as soon as she became Queen, but Parliament pushed back (this is my understanding of what happened). At the time, she was still fairly early on in her reign. After she was queen for awhile, she had enough good will built up that she was able to get away with making him a Prince of Britain.

I was under the impression that the only reason Camila is Duchess of Cornwall was out of respect of Diana. They didn’t think it would be good for the monarchy that she become the new Princess of Wales! My mother and I agreed at the time. I didn’t think her future title as Queen consort was in jeopardy. Honestly, I don’t think it matters to me because Diana never was Queen consort. Yes, Camila is getting the fairytale ending but there was no doubt that she would when Charles was given permission to marry her. Remember before Diana died, the rumors were if Charles married Camila, he would be passed up for the throne. But I’m more interested in Camila’s title after the passing of Charles as usually the former queen consort is usually the mother of the new monarch.

TBH, I never really knew all the Charles-Camilla-Diana drama until here. I think I need to watch more BRF documentaries. I've only watched stuff about Elizabeth and Philip so far. I don't really have strong feels regarding Camilla's future title. I think the whole situation was unfortunate and probably mishandled at some point by everybody involved. But I also don't think Camilla should be "punished" for things that happened 30+ years ago that clearly everybody in the family has moved on from. So I think giving her the title of Queen Consort (or whatever a King's wife would be titled) seems logical. Now if Charles were King and his wife died, then remarried that may be a different story.

I grew up with a general idea of the Diana/Charles/Camilla situation by reading tabloid covers at the grocery store and overhearing my mom and aunts talk about the situation at family gatherings and was very much under the impression that Charles and Camilla = bad and Diana = good. Obviously as an adult I am revisiting the narrative presented to me but I don’t think she will get the title of Queen Consort right away, they won’t wait years because they aren’t young but they will wait a bit to do so.

I get the love for Diana. She was the first royal to break boundaries and seem accessible to the people. Hugging HIV positive people, walking through fields of land mines, etc. She brought her kids to school and tried to give them a normal childhood. For what it’s worth, I don’t think she had the possibility of a loving marriage with Charles and I don’t think anyone expected her to remain loyal to him when he was openly cheating on her 2 years into their marriage. This part of her I do love I also believe she is more like Meghan and Kate than people realized and knew what she was getting into with the relationship part at least. I think she just thought he would hide his affairs better
