Hi. I dropped the kids off with my sister for a few hours and ran some errands for vacation and our event this weekend. Now I’ve lost motivation and need to pick them up soon.
I have volleyball tonight but our game isn’t until 9:30... which is my bedtime. Might have to take a nap just so I can make it until then. Lol.

lfig good thing you noticed before it rolled away without you in it. T had soccer and yoga at school. I like that they promise never to charge extra or leave kids out, they do optional fundraisers and if they raise enough, they bring the programs in for all the kids. I just took my proof of residency in for K registration and renewed the dog’s license. DD has an early dismissal so I’m giving C lunch then picking her up. We may be backing out of the beach house, lots of updates were done without permits so we need to see what’s up with all that. I’m back to looking again.

Morning! More cold and rain here. I need to run to Carter's and the grocery store while the kids are at school, then I am coming home and wallowing in my bed until pick-up. We have a playdate after school with some friends from MOPS. The Pre-K night was great...we met the Kindergarten teachers and principal (all of whom I really liked) and toured the school. They divided us into groups and we rotated through the 3 K classrooms; each teacher did a lesson (one science, one math, one reading), kind of as an example of what they'll be doing next year. All 3 teachers had the kids up and moving, singing or dancing as part of the lesson and they integrated some technology. B really enjoyed it and I feel like he's well-prepared 'socially' (raised his hand to be called on, etc). This is great! I registered S this morning but haven't been able to go to the school or see any of the teachers. It's so weird - for the past 5 years I've been super involved in knowing what is going on and now I have to just let it all go.

slenle 09.30?! don’t they know moms?!?! There is no way I could plan on being anywhere by 9:30pm. If something starts after 8, count me out! I'm old and tired.

kim22 Oh no! Any chance it wouldn't cost too much to correct them? Such is the hope. My realtor and lawyer are looking into town codes and such. I do not have the time, money, or stomach for a legal battle in the future so if they don’t fix it now, we have to walk. It’s top of our budget so we don’t have extra to fix it.

It was very reassuring to me to go and see things for myself...I agonized somewhat over keeping him at his current school or sending him to the elementary, but after last night I am very confident that we made the right choice. He's ready for a bigger 'pond'.

O lost his first tooth yesterday and i missed it because I’m out of town. Luckily mh knew to do the tooth fairy. We hadn’t had a plan for this yet but he got $1 and a chocolate coin. He was happy.

What’s with these schools not knowing the schedule for open houses?? flamingo glad you like the school you went to last night and I hope one of you can go tonight tallb . Seriously! When I got wind of it yesterday, I called the school office and they were like, "Well, we try to get the word out". How, via carrier pigeon? Apparently they just send letters home with current students and hope if you have younger kids, you'll show up, and tell your friends/neighbors who aren't connected to the school already. eta: luckily the actual program was great so I'll be charitable and forgive them, lol. Yeah, my coworker missed her kids’ school last year because they didn’t do good at getting the word out. They put it in the paper. Who gets an actual newspaper anymore?

M insists that the tooth fairy is bringing him a chocolate coin because that is what happened on Peppa Pig. So now I guess I have to hunt down a chocolate coin.

Lol, we don't even have a local paper that I know of. Ours was posted on the school website, but times/dates were in 3 different spots and all were different. The regular k orientation isn't til May, this is just for the immersion program we are applying to.

It’s sometimes on the school website here (usually as it get closer), and word-of-mouth is probably the biggest way to learn things, but they put it in our little town paper that gets delivered every other week. And if you call the secretary to ask she’ll suggest that you look to that for updated information.

If you FB, you might look for the school's page and follow it. That's how I found out when ours is. The actual school website still has last year's information.

kim22, what happened with your nephew and the chest pain yesterday? Was that yesterday.... Sorry about the house. I hope they can figure it all out. The ER detected an irregular heartbeat. They sent him home last night but set up an appointment for first thing this morning at a cardiologist. He said it was an episode of svt, a form of irregular heartbeat that is not dangerous. He said it may never happen again or it can happen frequently. Thanks for asking.

I’m super annoyed.
The therapy place where we had our appointment yesterday just called and said they are changing X’s recommendations to include ABA.
The behavioral therapist said the ST doesn’t think she can work with him otherwise. But the behavioral therapist didn’t think there was a need.
I got a weird feeling from her and by the time she was dealing with X it was nap time and he’d been there two hours so yeah, he is cranky but nowhere near outside the bounds of normal for a two year-old, and the behavioral therapist obviously thought that too.
Apparently the ST commented that he’s a little “self-directed.” Yes, and so what? He wants to do his own thing, that doesn’t rise to the level of requiring a behavioral intervention. Kids are actually small people with their own interests, lady. And if he needed any behavioral modification on any level, I am positive I would not be getting unsolicited feedback from his teachers about how much they enjoy him.
Aggravating.

Sorry cagoldi, that seems frustrating. I hate when people forget that kids are people too - they have different personalities, different moods, behave according to their moods, etc. OMG, they're almost like tiny humans. Who could have thought? FX for them getting the permitting done quickly for you, kim22.

Also a quick hi before I go pick up the boys for the first time in about a month. It's funny how excited I am to be the one picking them up.
It's been a loooong day at work, only made longer because I got up early to hit the gym. I did an easy 20 minutes on the recumbent without any swelling or pain, so I'm feeling positive. It's so nice to feel like I'm heading towards normalcy.
