So at work we are creating some job aides for healthcare workers who are doing Zika prevention in Caribbean and they have requested that we make a really critical edit to one of the illustrations...they want the penis to be drawn bigger. Our illustrator says the best fix is to make the hand smaller so it looks bigger by comparison. ::trying not to laugh::

M didn't want to get out of bed this morning. I finally persuaded her to let me turn the light on so we could get her dressed. When I turned around to get her leggings from the dresser it was like a scene from a horror film. There was blood all over her face, hands, nightgown, sheets...everywhere. I was trying not to freak her out but it was horrible looking.

That's terrible tgrimes . The initial shock would be horrifying. She's had them a couple times before but usually it's just a little dried blood on her face or on her pillow. This time it was everywhere and I don't understand how she didn't wake up.

I’m finally back at work after not being in the office since LAST Tuesday. Now I’m just counting down until Friday when we learn baby #2s sex!
O’s behavior was really bad on Sunday. He head butted me on purpose twice in public! Like I thought I was going to have a black eye.I literally didn’t know how to react since I was in public. After I got back in my car I just started crying. Either I’m a wimp or he’s a very strong willed child. Both times was bc I was telling him not to do a certain behavior. 2nd time was in front of a friend and I was so embarrassed. I just never imagined parenting being this hard. He just does not listen.

cookswithwine You are not a wimp. Parenting is hard. Both of my kids are stubborn and they don't always listen. I understand being embarrassed since you were in public. I can't tell you how many times M embarrassed the hell out of me. It wasn't until I had H that I realized most people have kids and know that sometimes they're just assholes. Not a whole lot embarrasses me anymore. (In parenting situations that is.) You're not doing anything wrong and it is probably just a phase. WE HAVE ALL BEEN THERE! Now I'm the mom carrying H sideways out of daycare while he's kicking and screaming while waving to other parents in the parking lot. A few times I haven't been able to buckle him in because he's flinging himself around like a wild hog in the car seat so I'm standing inside the car trying to force him in with one hand, and buckle with the other. Now I can just laugh about it. With M I would have never wanted to go out in public again.

tgrimes 😂😂 cookswithwine I’m sorry. You are not alone though. This is a tough age because these little spawns of satan are purposely seeing how much they can get away with. B flat out doesn’t listen because he doesn’t GAF but he doesn’t get physical. J on the other hand does. He purposely hits and slaps. He used to bite but that phase seems to be over. If we are public and I have the ability to take him into a quiet area and talk to him I do that. Otherwise I struggle. Time outs don’t work for him and when I tell him no he just laughs and keeps doing it.

Lol starbuck your job is much more exciting than mine 😂 Big hugs @cookswwithwine dealing with these little jerks is such a tough mental struggle and clearly a physical one too. L’s favorite game is to fall to the ground and act like the world is ending. We had a fun one in the checkout line at Walmart this weekend. We left the store with her screaming under my arm. Embarrassed, a little, ready for this toddler age to be over - definitely.

I'm sorry cookswithwine. These kids can be really challenging sometimes but just know you're a great mom and you're doing a great job. I hope this phase passes quickly. Also yay for Friday!

All I want to drink lately is raspberry iced tea. I guess there could be worse things. But even water is kind of gross to me right now.

cookswithwine You are not alone! Regarding the head butting, I once watched my nephew (2 at the time) do this to my sister who was 8+ months pregnant with his sister. We were all at my moms bday party and she was sitting on the ground holding him on her lap while my mom opened gifts. He wanted to open the gift (but then other kids also wanted to so she said he couldnt). He swung his head back and then slammed his head into her face/nose. I actually cried bc I felt so bad for her bt the actual pain, the feeling like your kid is a jerk, but mostly knowing how embarrassed she was when she shouldn’t have been. There’s no part of me that thought she deserved that, or that she’s mean to him, or that he’s destined to be a psychopath, or that he learned it from her.... which means, he was just being a typical toddler asshole. She took a good 15 minutes to compose herself in the bathroom. FTR, he is the swwwweeeeeeeetest 5 year old I have ever known.

I'm sorry @cooksiwthwine. I 2nd everything tgrimes said, there is nothing to be embarassed about. H is bad for hitting. We're working on it but kid just doesn't GAF a this point. I've carried him sideways kicking and screaming out of stores before. And sure there are always going to be judgy assholes out there, but I guarantee 99%of the people witnessing it have seen it all before and/or dealt with it themselves.

Girl my kids are the same. I can look at them and tell them "no" and they will just flash an evil grin and do it anyways. Or completely ignore me. And J is a hitter. It will pass!

cookswithwine - A accidentally kicked me in the face while messing around on the couch yesterday and then she spent a good five minutes trying to reenact what happened while giggling. I was not amused.

You guys, DH just got called to interview for a full time position on one of the (really good paying) rigs. I could puke. Please send up whatever positive thoughts you can for us. Him getting this position would mean soooooooooo much for our family. He'd have an actual schedule. He'd be in the union so he'd get benefits and overtime and all that stuff. And we would actually be comfortable financially and be on track to move and TTC by next year.
