Toddlers can be the absolute worst. And they always have a sense for when to try to push you.

starbuck, that's the best thing I've ever read! cookswithwine, girl, I've been there. It's really frustrating but just keep chanting "It's just a phase, it's just a phase". Eventually he'll outgrow this! danib, Ahh! fingers crossed!!

danib, Finger crossed and sending prayers for yh!! Last week of lessons for this session, won’t see these pre-school swimmers till the fall. 😢I teach pre school 3’s but the older kids may not come back because they are going to Kindergarten. This is a busy week! I have lifeguard in house training and Instructor training. BUT I have all of next week off!?!?! Yay winter break for me too. Edit to add tag

You guys, DH just got called to interview for a full time position on one of the (really good paying) rigs. I could puke. Please send up whatever positive thoughts you can for us. Him getting this position would mean soooooooooo much for our family. He'd have an actual schedule. He'd be in the union so he'd get benefits and overtime and all that stuff. And we would actually be comfortable financially and be on track to move and TTC by next year. It is your time! This is going to happen and then you are going to take a very well deserved few days to just flat out celebrate it.

Thank you for all the comiseration and stories. It was just a really hard day. And sometimes I don’t feel like we are making any progress. Awesome danib! Everything crossed for y’all! So M is in every single toddler activity because it looks good for the school we want her to go to, but my daily mindset that actually gets me to get her there and sit through it all is seeing how shitty all these toddlers act. There is always one that is having The Worst Day Ever. Sometimes it’s my kid, sometimes it’s not. At this point I know that most if not all the parents there are pretty amazing so it’s not them, me, or you. It’s these tiny little dictators. I get your emotions. It’s a lot to deal with knowing another one is on the way. The fear is real.

I painted M’s room this morning and changed her diaper 739374629 times because she has diarrhea. Fun. We were going to start hardcore potty training this weekend so I hope she’s over it by then. She’s kind of scared of pooping ATM. Poor thing.

She finally stopped the nasty teething diapers a week ago that she was having and I was so relieved, but this is so much worse. I have two diapers on her right now because it kept leaking through this morning. Fun times.

danib, do you find your patience with YH is wearing thin by the end of his home time? DH is driving me nuts!!! I get I do a lot and our arrangement is when he’s home he does most of it. He does everything half way to get it done and has to be told. He was home this morning, I asked what he pulled out for dinner... nothing! We have a sink full of dishes, because he didn’t empty the dish washer. Instead of doing our’s or L’s laundry every other day, he’d wait till we were out of clothes! I ask him not to mix the towels (65% are swim towels so chlorinated) with our clothes, he does it anyway! He hasn’t done a single load or laundry from start to finish, and he has the nerve to be flustered when someone is always in the house to back him up! How do I get this stuff done alone for 4-6 as a single parent with a clingy kid? How do we all do it, but our H’s seem stuck on one thing at a time and then try to do as quickly and wrong as possible? Grr /rant

danib everything crossed for your H! When’s the interview? cookswithwine I’ll echo what everyone else has said. Kids can be assholes. And it does seem like you have a lot of difficulty with O. I can commiserate. My O was/is more difficult than average. Way more aggressive, defiant, inattentive, impulsive than E is. I guess I say this to highlight that this is just his personality. MH and I have worked reeeeeallly hard on different parenting techniques to try to manage O. And it’s exhausting. But it has gotten better over the years. And ultimately, he is our baby, our first born, our little man, so we love him despite how challenging and embarrassing it can be. Some of the easiest advice I’ve received is that kids need you to be calm when they are not. So as difficult as it is, the more you feign calmness and that their behavior doesn’t bother you, the better. Easier said than done as I have to remind myself daily, but it might be a place to start.

Cheshie6 I started a post and then deleted it because it made my H look very bad. I’ll instead say that I commiserate with you. I just get the stuff done myself instead of expecting him to do it because my weird ass personality would prefer finished tasks while being annoyed over halfway done everything...while still being annoyed. Lol!

hangry those are really good points that I didn’t even thing about. H’s first response with M is always to react or respond in some way and I’ve been telling him lately to just disengage and get down to her level (height wise) until she’s ready to sort herself out. Our issues tend to be more emotional versus physical. She cries. A lot. Like, my gosh so so much. It doesn’t take much to tip the scale and H gets to see a majority of it because 95% of the time he sees her is either right before nap or bedtime. I have no idea if it’s correct or not but I just wait out the initial breakdown then speak quietly about whatever I feel is appropriate for the million of things that could have set her off. Soooo much crying.

Cheshie6 ohh so much yes. Every offshore spouse I've ever talked to (and we have a whole FB group of it for my Province because it's so commom here) agree to the same sequence: 1. Yay! You're home! I missed you so much! 2. Ok... You're kind of messing up my routine. Please do it THIS way. 3. OMG is it time to leave yet? Grrr. 4. Ok, on my own. I can do this! 5. Ugh I'm getting tired... 6. OMG I miss you so much, I can't handle it anymore, when TF are you coming home!!!!!! **And repeat.*** As for the cleaning and stuff. DH and I had a huge CTJ talk about it 2ish years ago and it made a difference. I still get frustrated with how short he is with the boys and how negative he gets over normal little things.. And messing up my routine lol.

All I want to drink lately is raspberry iced tea. I guess there could be worse things. But even water is kind of gross to me right now. I’ve been downing diet orange iced tea for the last month or so. I also stopped being able to sleep at night, but blamed being pregnant. Finally realized that it wasn’t decaf tea and I’ve been doing it to myself. 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️

What is diet orange iced tea?? Do you have Turkey Hill up there? It’s their brand. Have not seen orange flavored iced tea made by anyone else now that I’m thinking about it. Almost like an Arnold Palmer and filled with absolutely nothing good for me.
