Weeks pregnant/Due date/How old is baby: 35w4d RCS March 14
Baby is the size of a: Kids backpack
FTM/STM/TTM/etc: STM, DD 4 in April
Team: Blue 💙
Appointments: Next Tuesday, probably last appt/scan with high risk, then next Thursday with OB
Symptoms: Heartburn galore. Thank god for Tums. General hip and pelvic pain, basically every time I stand up I have to slowly straighten out, lol. I'm hungry all the time again, and basically nothing ever sounds good to eat. Nesting but so so tired 😴
Milestones: I really can't believe we're less than a month away. 24 days!! 😯
Rants/Raves/Vents: I'm so tired of people asking me if I'm ready for it (pregnancy) to be over. No, not really thank you very much, I'm happy to keep him cooking in here as long as he needs. I know I ranted about symptoms a bit (ha) but I really don't feel that bad. This is pregnancy, it's not all rainbows and I don't expect that. Stop acting like my baby needs to come out early for no reason, I'm only 35 weeks.
GTKY: If you were surprised with a $1000 shopping spree, where would you go? (Non baby related, and no you can't keep the money for savings or something boring 😉) Can I say I'd go to the mall? 😂 I made up the question so I'll say I can, haha. I'm not a fancy person but I wouldn't mind upgrading my wardrobe so I could make $1000 go a long way. But I want options at various stores so....the mall. I mean I'll need shoes, nicer outfits, comfy outfits, probably a purse or 2...

Aw thanks for making the check-in baby inclusive, pambee! Weeks pregnant/Due date/How old is baby: baby is ONE WEEK old today, what?? Baby is the size of a: I’m guessing he’s almost back up to birth weight which was 8 lbs 4 oz. FTM/STM/TTM/etc: TTM Team: Blue Appointments: on the 20th we go introduce him to our GP who will do a weight check and peek at my incision etc. It should have been his c-section date! Symptoms: I have wretched headaches and neck pain but have had them checked out just to be safe. Just fun post partum stuff, and I’m hunching over too much being goo-goo eyed at my baby. ☺️ Milestones: he’s taking about 3oz a feed and cleared for jaundice, so we’ve stopped waking him every 2-3 hours to eat and he’s doing some delightful 4 hour stretches. Rants/Raves/Vents: I’m in a similar boat pambee with being annoyed that people keep saying how great it is that he came early. Uh, it was really scary when he was whisked away to NICU and covered in tubes, and I’m really thankful he’s fine now, but I would have heaved myself around an extra 9 days happily. Or, miserably but feeling glad about a 38 week baby! GTKY: If you were surprised with a $1000 shopping spree, where would you go? (Non baby related, and no you can't keep the money for savings or something boring 😉) Ohhhh I would have to get new couches! Not nice ones because kids ruin everything, but a big ikea sectional for lounging and family cuddles while we watch tv. Right now we have two bottom of the line basic ikea couches (like the $200 ones... but I got them second hand) because we had to furnish our home from scratch when we moved. They do the job but I hate them. Haaaaate. Poof]

Weeks pregnant/Due date/How old is baby: 35w 4d RCS 3/1 Baby is the size of a: coconut FTM/STM/TTM/etc: STM Team:Blue Appointments: I had my ATU visit today and MFM on friday Symptoms: so much heartburn and sleeping is just not great. Everytime I wake up in the middle of the night I think about how nice it is that I can try and sleep and not get up with a baby yet. Milestones: To me everytime I make it another week it feels like a milestone right now Rants/Raves/Vents: My liver enzyme numbers came down again!!!!!! They are still elevated but this is now two weeks in a row they have come down. I'm feeling good about making it to 37 weeks. GTKY: If you were surprised with a $1000 shopping spree, where would you go? (Non baby related, and no you can't keep the money for savings or something boring 😉) I'd probably spend it on craft supplies. Maybe some fun kitchen things since I like to cook. And some new shoes. 34+2 with twins
both boys are measuring two weeks ahead! eep! currently weighing in at 6#2 and 6#8. Office is working on scheduling my csection for 3/19. HOw am I going to make it a whole nother month??
My last week of work teaching is this week. We also transitioned my Dd (23 mo) last night to a toddler bed and at daycare they swapped her to a cot today.
5th and Last Iron infusion is scheduled for Thursday. Next BPP (we're doing these in lieu of NSTs) and OB appt is next Tuesday.
If I had to spend it ASAP, a new couch. Preferably a sectional with a chaise and/or reclining ends. My dogs ruined this one. If I could wait six months from birth? Then an all new wardrobe.

Weeks pregnant/Due date/How old is baby: 31+4
Baby is the size of a: asparagus (which seems smaller to me than previous weeks)
FTM/STM/TTM/etc: stm
Team: blue
Appointments: Friday
Symptoms: back and pelvic pain, waking up 10 times a night, acid reflux, GD
Milestones: one week closer
Rants/Raves/Vents: I have to test my blood sugar for two weeks do diagnosed GD but I can tell by my numbers I have it. I had it last time but it wasn’t to hard to manage and I have to change my diet much more this time. I’m so stressed about what to eat and sad that I can’t eat what I want.
GTKY: If you were surprised with a $1000 shopping spree, where would you go? (Non baby related, and no you can't keep the money for savings or something boring 😉)
You all have good ideas. I would probably go somewhere I could get furniture. We need a new kitchen table badly. We are using the one I grew up eating on and it is sturdy but stain is peaking off and color doesn’t go with anything.

orangehibiscus, the iron infusions help so much! Each appointment is just over an hour, and it's always the best nap ever! Plus sleep since round two (both overnight and naps) have been great at home as well. Last night sucked, but not sure if it was because I had to postpone last Thursdays appointment til today, or if it was because I was keeping any ear open for DD falling out of the toddler bed, or the having to pee 4 times due to all the fluids I had over the weekend to stave off contractions.

Weeks pregnant/Due date/How old is baby: 31 + 3 / officially scheduled for 4/12!!
Baby is the size of a: otter?
FTM/STM/TTM/etc: STM, D1 is 3.5
Team: Pink
Appointments: next up is OB visit on Friday
Symptoms: feeling the blood pumping through my body, feeling like I can’t get enough oxygen, legs hurt, giant swollen bulge on the back of my leg (so glamorous), thinking I have to pee all the time, either being starving or way too full with no in between
Milestones: another week down!
Rants/Raves/Vents: A random mom today told me I am a cute pregnant person. I don’t care if she just made it up, but I’ve been feeling so huge and uncomfortable and like I’m falling apart, that I just about cried because she was so nice.
Vents- I cannot handle how “tired” H is all the time. He gets almost 9 hours of sleep a night, but is still exhausted? I think he has sleep apnea but refuses to go to a doctor about it. It drives me absolutely crazy. We can’t sleep in the same room because his snoring is obnoxiously loud. Like I can hear him snoring from the living room when I’m in the bedroom with my door closed.
GTKY: If you were surprised with a $1000 shopping spree, where would you go? (Non baby related, and no you can't keep the money for savings or something boring 😉) If I can wait until post-baby/breastfeeding, I want to take myself to get this super fancy facial and then buy ALL the fancy skincare products she recommends and revamp my routine. I’ve gotten better at taking care of my face, but it’s just too expensive to do a total overhaul of products.

Weeks pregnant/Due date/How old is baby: 31+6 / April 17th, but my RCS is scheduled for April 12th
Baby is the size of a: cantaloupe
FTM/STM/TTM/etc: STM
Team: boy
Appointments: this Friday
Symptoms: Just feeling large and uncomfortable.
Milestones: I always feel like 32 weeks is a big milestone. So I'm almost there!
Rants/Raves/Vents: Y'all I am trying not to freak out about the state of the baby's room and how it is still not painted. I know H will get it done, he maxed out his PTO at work again and needs to take a few days off and plans to finish it then, but I just want to set everything up! And buy the things we still need. At least his clothes are washed and put away and we have a bunch of diapers and wipes.
GTKY: If you were surprised with a $1000 shopping spree, where would you go? (Non baby related, and no you can't keep the money for savings or something boring 😉) The outlet mall nearby! I also desperately need a wardrobe update plus my shoes are falling apart and thanks to that purse thread over on GD I now need a purse update too!

Weeks pregnant/Due date/How old is baby: 31w1d - due 4/22
Baby is the size of a: Pineapple
FTM/STM/TTM/etc: FTM
Team: Blue!
Appointments: Had one this morning, next is 3/5 for a growth scan because kiddo is measuring a little big (3cm). I also lost 2lbs, which they were slightly concerned about.
Symptoms: Peeing. Heartburn. Insomnia. Butt pain when laying on one side too long.
Milestones:
Rants/Raves/Vents: Rave - We started to get some of the things off our registry and it just warms my heart <3 Rant - work is being an a-hole (after a whole 3 months) and I don't know if I should start looking for another job once kiddo gets here.
GTKY: If you were surprised with a $1000 shopping spree, where would you go? (Non baby related, and no you can't keep the money for savings or something boring 😉) I'd probably put it towards a down payment on a new SUV.

Weeks pregnant/Due date/How old is baby: 35w1d, delivery in under 2 weeks!!! 😯
Baby is the size of a: 2 honeydew melons. I also have these on my chest, lol.
FTM/STM/TTM/etc: STM/TTM (twins)
Team: Identical boys
Appointments: Thursday for a weekly NST
Symptoms: Just getting so large and uncomfortable, but hanging in there.
Milestones: This is my last week in the office!!! 🎉
Rants/Raves/Vents: Got into a stupid disagreement last night with my H over parental leave. My company pays us for a certain number of weeks, but we have to turn over any short term disability payments to them, so essentially the company only has to contribute 40% of our salary (STD pays them back 60%). We also give men parental leave, but they obviously aren't on STD, so the company pays for 100% of their leave.
I was explaining why I think birth mothers should get STD payments AND the full parental pay, he was saying that it didn't matter where the money came from as long as it's full pay.
I'm glad we give time to the guys, so that they can bond with babies, etc. But the fact of the matter (IMO) is that moms should get more because we are also healing from a health event. It's fucking hard. The STD contributions are also part of our overall compensation, so I think ultimately we should get to receive the benefit.
I don't know if I am making sense, but I felt like I wasn't explaining myself well last night and it made me upset. I'm all for equality, but I am struggling to finish out work here because I'm so exhausted, and I wish I could use more leave time (even STD time) before the birth but it's not allowed. I have to eat into PTO. This country has us moms saving up every possible bit of time that we can spend with our infant, and it's hard.
He did apologize, but I'm still not sure if he gets it. And he is a super pro-women type of guy/pro-women's rights, so if he doesn't get it, how will other men?
(I realize that I'm super lucky that my company has any paid leave at all, but I still think we as a country could be doing more).
GTKY: If you were surprised with a $1000 shopping spree, where would you go? (Non baby related, and no you can't keep the money for savings or something boring 😉)
Definitely on a vacation somewhere tropical that involves spa treatments/massages.

We’ve basically always slept separately because of the snoring. He had only been sleeping in the bed with me for a few months after getting his cpap when I got pregnant and I’ve been so restless at night that with the noise from his machine he decided it was best that I get as much rest as I can so he’s been back on the couch. I look forward to a day when we’re finally able to finally get in a normal routine. I wish you luck and completely understand those ragey feelings!

Eames, I get it. I have a lot of big feelings when men start discussing paid leave, even if they're on the right track. The bottom line is while some companies are extremely generous giving paternity leave, the VAST majority of US companies don't give an appropriate amount of maternity leave or support, and frankly, we're the ones giving birth. I'm sure your H realizes the privilege that he has getting paid leave, but where the money comes from DOES matter. For instance, I get nothing. They'll hold my job for 12 weeks without firing me, but at 0% pay. I unfortunately don't qualify for FMLA because I haven't worked at this business for long enough. I'm hoarding 8 days of PTO and will take the rest of my 5 weeks unpaid. Meanwhile, my boss and my employee refer to my mat leave as my "vacation". Sure, I'm losing out on over $15k by not working and I'll be dealing with a newborn and bleeding and attempting to pump and hormones and and and, but sure. Call it a vacation. Asshats.

lemondrop Eames I am feeling the same way. I am hoarding every bit of leave I have because I really cant afford to go unpaid, which is why I am only taking 10 weeks its all the leave I have and I am hoping this kid comes out with some super immune system because my husband is a teacher and cant take leave very easily during the school year. I also have no idea what if anytime he will get off at this time of year, my other 2 were summer babies. My best hope is probably to go into labor at the start of spring break then he would be home for 9 days. But I guess I chose to have kids and no one else should have to pay for benefits for me. Its just extremely stressful.

lemondrop Oh the “vacation” thing makes me so mad. It is so very far from my idea of a vacation, thank you very much. I’m very fortunate to get 4 months FMLA and 13 weeks 100% pay. My company upgraded their pay since D1, so I’m happy about that! H, on the other hand, gets no time off. He gets 2 weeks PTO per year which is absurd. Thankfully he never gets sick, so he uses them for family things. He is planning on taking Mondays and Fridays off for a month after my mom leaves/abandons me.

Weeks pregnant/Due date/How old is baby: 36 weeks!
Baby is the size of a: chihuahua
FTM/STM/TTM/etc:ttm
Team:girl
Appointments: had one this afternoon. My iron levels came back great so I am happy about that. Had the lovely gbs swab test and got my little kit of homebirth stuff. Next appt is for a home visit next week
Symptoms:started feeling really pregnant this weekend, lots of pressure as she is low, back pain at the end of the day
Rants/Raves/Vents: It is my birthday on friday so we are doing a mini family trip just to a city nearby to relax, hang out and go swimming. I haven't been swimming in any pregnancy but have wanted too. Everyone says how awesome it feels and I think it would be nice as my back hurts, so I will be checking that off my last pregnancy bucket list.
GTKY: If you were surprised with a $1000 shopping spree, where would you go? (Non baby related, and no you can't keep the money for savings or something boring 😉)
I think I would have to put it towards a trip.

Its just extremely stressful. This line of thinking makes me so sad. No, no one else chose to have kids for you. But we all pay into a system in the US that SHOULD represent benefits for everyone. People with cancer. People who have parents/kids who need assistance. People who have disabilities. People who need mental health time off. Joe Schmo will never have to use maternity leave, but he might need to use benefits if his dad gets hit by a bus and needs 24 hour assistance as he recovers. My dad is deceased and my mother is cut off, so I'll personally never use that benefit. I would love for Joe to be able to use benefits to take care of a parent while he's recovering, even if I will never use it. His paying into the system helps me. My paying into the system helps him. I should really move to Canada.
