tgrimes I wouldn't let her discount anything until the specialist does and I'd opt for the tests. This don't always present typically. I’m aware. Like I said, she was happy to run any tests I wanted. She’s calling the GI tomorrow to get a list of everything they’d run so M only has to be pricked once. She also brought up cyclic vomiting syndrome and abdominal migraines.

That’s random. I wonder what brought that up. The Lion Guard. She wanted to know how Mufasa became a “spirit in the clouds.” I know it’s not funny but I’m laughing. Freakin Disney and their Lion Guard making kids ask the important questions.

Cadence's ears look fine. She told me "daddy told me to lie if you ask if he cleaned them. He didn't clean them, though."
Not ok, dude.
She also told me that she was crying that they hurt because she had touched them. I reiterated that we don't mess with them, nor do we let our friends mess with them.

I realize I’m late to this kind of conversation, but Josie just had A LOT of questions about death before she went to bed. I don’t know if I want to cry or vomit. Such hard conversations. Sweet, sensitive girl. A couple nights ago, Dude was crying because he said he needs a grown-up to help him take care of Xander and Poppy when me and Pete are gone. Broke my heart.

Whew.
Boys are thrilled with their bunks.
P had a tough fine. Only took 2.5 ounces of formula all day, cried constantly, and had a hoarse voice at pick-up.
As for X Man, they do not think he is on the spectrum, but will still request a study to rule it out completely. He does, however, have developmental dyspraxia. It’s not something that was on my radar at all, but makes perfect sense given his motor planning and sensory issues. He is incredibly strong, but has low muscle tone, which sounds paradoxical but is not uncommon at all according to the specialist. So the plan is to get him into ST, PT, and OT, and he might need each modality as often as three - five times a week. 😐
It’s all still very early so I’m not sure what else to expect, but they did characterize this as a “true developmental delay” and learning disability? So I guess I do need to get organized on figuring out how to have some kind IEP before he transitions to public school?
Obviously, that is A LOT of therapies, so I’m going to look into getting him on the waiting list at the school where they currently do out OT, that way they can just work around his schedule and he can be onsite.

I'm so sore. We were at TKD forever because some of our friends were belt testing so we stayed to support them. I kept working out and damn my legs are tired.

I was completely unaware spirit Mufasa was even in the Lion Guard. I guess it's just not Disney if they aren't killing off a parent.

I’m glad you’re on your way to answers cagoldi but woof that’s a lot! How are you feeling? This sounds so dumb now but I remember having a good cry about Cs speech delay and helmet because he had something that he needed to overcome. I can imagine you have a mixed plate of emotions and that’s ok. I’m here if you need to talk.

I’m sure it’s a lot to process, but i am you have direction, cagoldi. I hope they can fit some (or all) of his therapies into his daily schedule.

That is a lot cagoldi. Any way they can incorporate it in his daycare time (over here some daycares will have people coming over). We’re here if you need to vent or talk.

cagoldi Wow, that’s a lot to take in in one day. Hopefully they can coordinate all of the therapies easily. I’m sorry P didn’t have a very good time at daycare.

cagoldi I’m glad you are getting some answers! S is quite strong too with low tone. Very common. How old is he now? Before 3, through the early intervention program the therapists will come to you. Your house, day care, wherever. I remember being overwhelmed with all the therapies in the beginning and it was frustrating trying to plan our lives around therapy appointments. But once S hit 3, she got an IEP and the school took over the therapies. They went to her at the day care. But then this year since she’s in the preschool at the school they see her there. It’s wonderful and I don’t have to coordinate anything. I just try to be cognizant of when they are going to be working with her and try not to let her miss school on those days. Unless she’s sick of course. But if we are making plans for something and she’s going to have to miss I try to plan it for Thursday or Friday because the other days are her therapy days. The therapists are great at communicating with me, we text a lot, so I know what they are working on and can continue it at home. If you go the outpatient therapy route then it will all fall on you. For scheduling, getting him to appointments, paying copays, ect. But you can also get a lot from outpatient therapy as well. In our case, the neurologist wants S to get some additional outpatient OT. Because through the school everything is educational based. And she feels that through outpatient OT it can help S gain some more skills that they might not necessarily focus on at therapy through school. So I’m currently trying to get that set up. But being faced with difficulty. Living in a rural area the therapists are few and far between. The closest place 30 min away doesn’t currently have an OT, but they are expecting one in June. The next closest place, an hour away, won’t call me back. I’ve thought about just paying OOP and not going through insurance for one of her old therapists that I LOVE but isn’t set up to do insurance. She just contracts with the schools and early intervention and does private sessions. But she would come to us. So I hope that you get things figured out and that you are able to get him what he needs without uprooting your lives too much. You have a lot on your plate as it is.

cagoldi glad you got some answers. Sounds like they have a good plan and hoping the therapists can just visit him where he is so you don't have to coordinate that. I know in DC, speech and OT come to private daycares, not sure what it's like out there. Hugs too, I'm sure it's a lot to process.

Ugh n was a hot mess all day. She refused to nap and was coughing through one of my meetings, thankfully just with my boss and mom friend. Hoping tomorrow she starts perking up..I'd keep j and her both home tomorrow but I don't want him getting her germs. It's a solid 1.5 hours round trip to just take him to school and back, which is the downside of work affiliated prek. Stick a fork in me, I'm done.
