We're at the jumping place and then I need to go to the store. While the boys nap I'm going to get some work done.

It wasn’t an endoscopy. I can’t remember the actual name of it.

That is not okay. tgrimes I’m sorry. Have they scoped her yet? I wonder see if she has a sphincter/esophageal/reflux issue. They scoped her last year. That’s where she drinks the milky stuff and they X-ray it going down, right? That’s an esophagram. I think for a scope she would be put to sleep and they would do a little camera device down her throat.

Morning. I ended up being super productive with my afternoon off yesterday and i just want to keep purging at home so my motivation is low at work. I’ve been having trouble with my hip lately. I’ve been stretching daily and heating it at night. I’m pretty sure it’s because I sleep with a weird frog leg angle. I might buy a knee pillow to keep my legs where they belong. tgrimes, any tips/stretches you can recommend? My hip pops a lot and it’s sore all the way around. It’s getting old.

I think for a scope she would be put to sleep and they would do a little camera device down her throat. The last GI said the next step would be a colonoscopy before referring us to a neurologist. Augh. I don’t really want to do that to her but it’s probably what she needs. I know my nephew had an endoscopy & colonoscopy done at the same time. His crohns was throughout his whole tract. I know there’s a type that affects the small intestine that could cause constipation and vomiting. I wonder if I can ask my pedi to run some blood work in the meantime. I know not everyone will have inflammatory markers show up in blood work, but it can’t hurt to try. Any tips on what to ask for? ESR, CRP & PV tests for inflammation, right?

He seems to be ok. No more puke last night. One of my coworker’s says when her twins have a stomach bug, they will always go a few days and then have a random puke and sometimes it lasts for a week or so. So I’ll be on alert with him for the rest of the week just in case.

I believe those do check for inflammation. What age did your nephew start to show symptoms?

I might buy a knee pillow to keep my legs where they belong. tgrimes, any tips/stretches you can recommend? My hip pops a lot and it’s sore all the way around. It’s getting old. Lol. I’m assuming you’re already stretching your hamstrings and your quads. Have you tried stretching your psoas muscle? They definitely affect your hip flexors. You can google some stretches for them and also see is you can find some videos on how to massage them. Other stretches you can do: Lay on your back with your butt up against the wall and your legs on the wall. Then slowly let your legs slide down the wall into the splits. You’ll get to a point that you can’t go anymore. Relax and sit there. Your muscles will eventually loosen and your legs will slide down the wall, little by little. It can get a little painful. I make my students do 5-10 min. When your time is up, grab one of your legs and bring it to the other, rather than trying to lift your leg, because it will hurt to engage those muscles right away. Lay on your back and bring your knees in with your feet up like you’re sitting in a chair. Take your right ankle over your left knee and then using your hands slowly pull your left leg closer to you. Repeat the other side. Start in the same position above. Cross your knees and then hold your feet. Pull your feet into you. If those last 2 don’t make sense I’ll send you a video on SC. I don’t think I described them very well.

tgrimes, thank you! I get what you’re saying, and do those last stretches pretty regularly. I’ll have to try the wall one. And then laugh at myself for my lousy flexibility.

It is quite embarrassing and it hurts like a mofo. My feet used to touch the ground while I was dancing. Now....not so much. It would help if you can stretch the muscles all around the hip area, like the hamstrings, glutei, quads, etc. I know you go to the chiro. Have you ever asked them about your hips? Mine do a pull on each leg that’s supposed to help. But you might ask them about releasing your psoas. I used to have a dance partner that would massage mine. It would hurt at first but made a huge difference the next day.

Morning!
Big day for the Goldi household.
P’s first time at DC, boys are getting their bunk beds, and X has his neurodevelopmental eval this afternoon. I’m not quite sure what to expect. We’re heading to the park to let him run around a bit so he’s not a maniac at the doctor’s office.

If it’s anything like S’s neuropsych eval when she was 1.5 ish.... it will be a lot of activities to see what he can do. Like stacking blocks, pick out the red xxxx, and observing him play and manipulate items. Plus, I had 5000 papers with questions to answer about what I felt she could/couldn’t do and how she reacted in certain social situations, how her emotions were, what she could do physically, ect. It was all specific questions like “in a group setting she will interact verbally with a stranger” and I had to answer all the time, some of the time, rarely, or never. But there was soooooo many of those questions. We were there for 3 hours.

We already filled out one of those packets before they would even schedule the appointment (it was seriously over 100 pages) so hopefully they don’t need more of that today. I’m okay with whatever the outcome, but it will be good to know what we’re dealing with if it’s anything beyond SPD. Asperger’s has been suggested, but I just don’t know. So, we’ll see. Did they tell you anything right away at the appointment or did you have to wait?

tgrimes, that sucks. They should be able to do a colonoscopy and endoscopy at the same time so if they end up recommending one then I would ask for both so she doesn't need anesthesia twice. Has she been tested for celiac? I don't really know what they test for that but it came to mind so I figured I would mention it.

cagoldi wow that is a lot! How are you holding up today? A little anxious, but not upset. Just kind of eager to be done with it and have a better picture of how we need to move forward to best help him. P is a mama’s girl and screams if I’m not holding her so I suspect she’ll have a rough day. She has the same infant teacher that cared for X and A so I know she’s in great hands.
