Can everyone send good thoughts to my friend’s little boy with Leukemia? He had testing Monday to see if he’s in remission and they will get results tomorrow.

dapostrophe did something happen to your oldest to make him want to quit everything? Breakup? Lose a big hockey game? He seemed to be so into hockey, it's surprising that he quit.

E has a minor obsession with boobs right now. I've started to ask for privacy when I get dressed. He asked mh about his (mh) bobbies and asked when he was going to get his own (E's). Then I asked him to throw out 2 oranges that had gone bad and he holds them up to his chest and says "bobbies! " Kid cracks me up

Not that I'm aware of. He used to be really into doing sound and lights for school plays and he dropped that too. His therapist says sophmore year is the worst and this is somewhat typical for the age, but I do not want to let it get to the point that he's forming bad habits, KWIM? He's a good kid, but he's gotten lazy and a little entitled. We need to nip that in the bud.

That's interesting about sophomore year, dapostrophe ..."wise fool" and all that I remember that was about my cousin's age when my aunt had to exercise the nuclear option and take away phone, laptop, etc. She said those first couple weeks were like watching an addict go through withdrawal, but they emerged on the other side and my cousin rebounded and did much better the rest of high school and is now doing great in college.

dapostrophe I needed to look up what age sophomore is, but I guess 14-15? Dh has been a teacher for over a decade, that year is the worst. We have a saying in Dutch ‘to big for a napkin, to small for a table cloth’. Meaning they’re don’t fit with in the kids anymore and they don’t fit in with the adult just yet. Hope things improve soon!

flamingo I def agree with the addict thing. Good to hear a story where it turned out ok. nam2013 I love that saying too and it's definitely true from where I'm looking. My son is 16 and he just seems to be in some kind of limbo. jewels I did not know that. Once he starts showing some motivation again, I may pick your brain.

My son is 16 and he just seems to be in some kind of limbo. jewels I did not know that. Once he starts showing some motivation again, I may pick your brain. Absolutely. We are both involved more in events and music than theater, but it's all the same industry. If he shows an interest again, I'd be happy to give you information and/or talk to him. But it's a tough business - and especially as one starts out in it, it's a lot of long hours/hard work. I'm on the business side of things, and MH started touring and setting up sound gear and then did sales/project management for 15 years before starting his own company that sort of marries all those things. So all that to say, we have knowledge of many sides of the industry.
