Putting a bunch of expensive stuff that no one can afford on your registry leads to a lot of baby clothes I bet. This is what I told my SIL. She was like, "Well I don't want clothes!" (I think b/c she's been buying them along and along herself). I was like, "Well then you'd better add some things in a more reasonable/practical price point." When I was shopping last week I noticed that a lot of her registry stuff hadn't been purchased yet, but I checked again today and saw she'd added some smaller/more reasonably priced items and lo and behold, guess what was being bought! LOL. Pretty much everything on my registry was “reasonably priced” and I still got a bunch of stuff I didn’t register for (including clothes). I think you’re going to get what people want to buy no matter what.

I need to look up golf lessons for M. He would love that. The problem I have is getting him to lessons since I work past 5. It worked out well last year that we had one practice at 545 on Friday and the game on Saturday morning. I hope the schedule works like that again this year. 🤞🏽 The First Tee is one place to check. That is the only organization I could find in our area that starts at age 5 (the country clubs and other places were 6 or even 8.) I like the sound of it and it's very affordable so we'll see how it goes!

I saw it moreso with C...not sure if that was because she was the 2nd child, or a girl, but we got a lot more clothes and 'gift-y' type items (plush lamb play mat from PBK, monogrammed lovies, etc). I also think people like to shop for baby girls, moreso than boys--in general I've received a lot more clothes for C over the years.

Sitting in the Starbucks parking lot enjoying a latte while the kids polish off some cake pops. The pediatricians’ office wasn’t busy, and we were in and out in no time. Unfortunately, they diagnosed Charlie with a sinus infection, so he is on azithromycin for the next 5 days. Poor kid— that stuff tastes awful! That's what S is on. He was freaking out about trying to take it this morning. I got the does in yesterday but today he wanted nothing to do with it. I got almost all in and then he just lost it. We ended up mixing it with water and having him drink it that way, so it sort of tasted like fruit punch (I took a small sip). But that was 1 oz. I'm not sure how I will get him to drink 4.5 oz tomorrow! Anyone have any advice? Charlie took it no problem today, but I have had luck with Hershey’s syrup in the past, so I have that on hand. A syringe of it before the medicine.

Putting a bunch of expensive stuff that no one can afford on your registry leads to a lot of baby clothes I bet. But it also upsets me because I know at the end of the day, when most of this stuff is still on her registry, my MIL will buy it for her. I hope she gets what she needs, but in less expensive versions. Like the $30 changing pad instead of the $130 one.

A google search showed a place here that supposedly uses operations 36, but when I checked them out, they don’t have our city as one. I may have to call this club to find out more. ETA: just checked. Not in our area. 👎🏽. It both of the ones mentioned above are in the city we are moving to. 🙌🏽

Hi everyone. Thanks for the love today. I’m so sorry that I keep burdening you guys. So my mom called me at about 6 this morning and told me she couldn’t breathe. (My dad was out of town on business for two nights. She wouldn’t stay with us and she didn’t want me to stay with her.) Anyway I asked if she needed an ambulance or if I should come get her and she asked me to come get her. I made her stay on the phone with me in case it got worse.got to her house and she’s visibly short of breath so I’m walking her out to the car and when I turn of the house lights as we walk outside she stops, looks past me and says “who’s that man? I don’t know him.” I ask her what man and she says the one behind you with blood on his face. Obviously there was no man (and obviously that was one of the creepiest moments of my life.) we get in the car and she starts telling me about the other “ghosts” she’s been seeing. Before I was under the impression these things were only happening at night and in a dreaming/half awake situation. But she was wide away. And she was very matter of fact. She doesn’t explain them like hallucinations... she sees it Plain and clear. Anyway we get to the hospital and at intake I tell them about the shortness of breath and the hallucinations. She got upset with me because she knows no one else can “see” them and she doesn’t think they can do anything. They give her a few breathing treatments and clear her medically after running a bunch of tests (which took a hours of course) then I convinced her to allow them to do a psych consult so we could figure out how to make the “ghosts” go away. (At this point it is easier to acknowledge that she is seeing them, then Try to challenge it.) my dad got on a plane as soon as he heard this morning so he came and took over, because I had a friend who had thankfully taken the kids for me. Anyway, after the psych consult she agreed to voluntarily admit herself for observation and testing for a minimum of 3-7 days. This absolutely sucks, but I think this hospital thing will be the best thing to hopefully get some answers. I’m emotionally drained and pretty upset. And just tired. That was long. I’m sorry again that I keep dumping Debbie downer stuff on you all. And thank you tgrimes for checking on me throughout the day!! ILU!!

Could you have a race or something (convince him you're drinking some, too?) to see who can down it the fastest? My uber-competitive kids would enjoy that. Honestly, barring that I'd probably just resort to a bribe. "I know this stuff is gross but it's going to help you feel better...if you can take this medicine for the week without a big fuss, we'll go to Target and pick something out (or go do X)". I basically did that this morning. But he was literally gagging on it Hopefully the diluted solution works tomorrow again!

Mix it in ice cream, flavored yogurt or juice. Try to use a small amount of those things in case they don't eat/drink it all. I have been known to sit on both of my kids and force it down, too. I let Cadence syringe it into her mouth herself, then have a drink as soon as she swallows so she can wash the taste out I tried to let him do it himself. He was not going for it. I offered it in applesauce but maybe yogurt is a better bet

I've literally given her $500-700 in items already. What else does she need then? Good Lord. I will say went more "high-end" (but not outrageous, I don't think) with our baby registry and the stuff we bought since I knew we would be having more kids and wanted to really think through what we got. It wasn't anything we would not have spent the money in ourselves, and I had a second hand crib, etc. This is obvs not the same as the SIL situation, but 4 kids later I can say I am happy with how everything has held up.

xolastunicornxo I’m so sorry, I was hoping y’all were out of the woods. I'm glad she’s going to stay for testing and observation. My grandmother hallucinated exactly like that in the early stages of her disease; ‘saw’ people in her home (who she claimed were trying to harm her, etc). As you found, it’s better just to play along and comfort vs try to argue or disprove her. My grandmother would always say afterward that she knew it sounded crazy but was adamant she saw it 😢 It was like part of her knew it wasn’t true but in the moment she really did see them. It’s heartbreaking to watch. So whether this is what y’all are dealing with or it turns out to be something else, I think you are smart to keep pushing for answers.

xolastunicornxo I'm so sorry about your day and your moms situation. I'm glad they're close so you can be there for/with her, even though I know its hard for you. The visions would completely scare me. I really hope they can figure something out to help her.

@klongoria yes, but it’s only been a few days. jewels yes I’m So grateful. Thank goodness Shaun was still him when she called (he normally would already be gone.) I would have had to call an ambulance. And I’m so grateful to have friends that I know will drop their day to help so I didn’t have to leave her. Shaun’s work is very flexible and he’s high up enough that he could have stayed home if absolutely necessary, but with the shutdown, the Ca fires, and the markets in general he’s under a lot of pressure at work.

None of her friends will be able to afford some of this shit on her list. After everything I've given her over the last month, I doubt I'll buy her anything over $20. I've literally given her $500-700 in items already. If I had a baby right now I would buy diapers, formula, a couple of onesies and a RNP. That's it. They don't need anything else until they are a big bigger. Then instead of a baby shower I'll have a half birthday at 6 months and get all the crap then, when they can actually start using it.
ETA: oh and I guess a car seat too.
I can think of so many things I'd need/want before 6mo! Bottles, burp cloths, bibs, sleepers, toys, swing, wipes, noses frida, crib, crib sheets, sleep sacks, stroller.... ETA: sound machine, humidifier, swaddle blankets...

The only thing I registered for that ended up being a waste for B was the Bumbo seat. But C ended up using it so go figure.

We got another week of funding at work. Which is just crazy. Where is this money coming from? Anyway it’s good news so don’t question it. I’m probably going to call out tomorrow and take a day to recharge now that my to do list is less time sensitive.

Although half of Cs class was sent home with a fever today so who knows. When I asked C who went home it was mostly his close friends. So I could be home with a sick kid tomorrow too.

Other than that, we didn't need it! C didn't use our bouncy seat, but the other two loved it!

B's legs were too chubby for it, I think he used it once and he was wedged in there so tightly I was afraid his circulation was going to be cut off, lol.

xolastunicornxo what a great and quick thinking daughter you are! I'm sorry these are difficult times with her. I'm sure you all know monitoring her condition will be best and it sounds like she is willing to have people listen to her. Fingers crossed this period brings some answers.

E, who can still wear 2t shorts to bed, was too chunky at that age to sit in it.
