M has not been having a great time at my ILs. He is homesick. Both times I spoke to him yesterday, he was complaining about wanting to go home. Poor kid. MH picks him up today. I think if M2 was there it would be a bit easier. I need him to get used to it, because I plan on sending him a couple times a year for a weekend once we move since we’ll be close enough to meet up. Oh poor guy  I can commiserate, B used to go to my Mom's no problem for two nights and it was always a fight to get him to come home, now that J is here he cannot stand to be away from the family. He makes sure to clarify that he is only going for ONE NIGHT, over and over. And I dont dare say that it's 2 days but 1 night, cause he hears '2' and thinks he is going to be gone forever. |

Hi!
I should be working but I’m ordering my textbooks and meal planning.
A’s little friend from school is spending a good chunk of Sunday at our house so his parents can go house hunting. I think his mom felt a little bad about asking but at this point, chaos reigns anyway so one more kid makes no difference and he and Dude can entertain each other so NBD.

That's frustrating for sure tgrimes, I cant relate to anyone that spends $$$$$ on baby shit, for many reasons. Add in that she is doing it knowing that she'll get it from your MIL is annoying at best. Give distance and create boundaries for sure, dont look at the registry, give her all the baby stuff now so it's out of your house and then you're not looking at it annoyed by her all the time. |

Lol, sounds like our SILs are a lot alike tgrimes . Mine is expecting and asked for our crib (that we're still using!) And yes, It’s annoying when you see nice people getting played or being taken advantage of. Similarly, my ILs and H’s grandma still pay for so much for my SIL. She and her H are by no means rich but they're fine. So she’s complaining about no money, etc, but ten minutes later telling me she got Botox. Ok, got it, so you can’t buy your nursery rocker but you can get Botox? 👍🏻👍🏻 I am not bitter, per se, because I am thankful DH and I stand on our own feet and I think we’ll be better served by that in the long run. I think partly she’s always been spoiled because she’s the girl, and partly my H’s family sees that she’s less...whatever so they attempt to level the playing field. But it’s definitely eye roll-inducing, which is one reason I can only take her in small doses. |

flamingo oh yes... my SIL told me the other day how they could never afford a trip to the USA... They make double what we do, have a big house, have two cars, buy fancy clothes/gadgets etc. I’m like sure you can, you just need to make different choices! ETA not judging btw, to each their own!

Textbook entitlement and just because you have relatives that help- dare I say enable? - you keep it up. Don’t get me wrong, I like nice things, but I’m smarter than that. MH (and a few friends) already made some comments how I need to get my in laws to babysit as much as possible from now until she delivers, because once that baby is here she'll be using my MIL every chance she can get. |

Yes, the postings would be in Canada, some near and some far, as in New Brunswick (North-East of Maine). It's more about the unit he gets posted to, what are the plans for it in in September, some are going on tour back to Latvia, some Iraq. There is a posting in Germany and Latvia, but he'd have to apply specifically for it and it'd be only for 3 years so those are out. |
