I don't have time to touch and thank every single item. I mean that part is a little much for sure, but it is about being mindful about the things that you do have around you. Taking the initial time to look at every item makes you more aware of what you have and thinking about each piece as opposed to just being surrounded by stuff, which may be meaningless. I do like her boxes in drawers ideas. I def. want to do that in our kitchen. And clean all the crap out of the garage and kitchen.

@ladeehdah remind me is thing a good thing for you and where are you moving to? Yes, it’s a good thing. (That’s what I’m telling myself.) I’m still doing my best to embrace it, but honestly, I’ve had people say they love it there, so I can only hope we do, too. I hate to leave my job because I do love it here, but hopefully I can find work soon. MH just texted me that his boss has some places for me to send my resume, so at least they want to help, too.

Yep. It’s happening. MH officially starts next week. I haven’t told my job yet, but the kids and I will be here until May at least, so I have time. Wow! Congrats! So will he be able to come home periodically during that time? Why will you be there till May? Yes, he can. I’m not uprooting M in the middle of the school year. And just logistics. It will take time for us to find a house, research areas and schools. I don’t want to be rushed, and even though it will suck to be here by myself for some months, it’s the best thing. Most families in this profession take this approach when the job change happens in December. He also has free housing (a room) until we do move.

I would love to, we can purge and drink wine! Then I'll head over to lahdeedah's and prep her for the move. This would be a dream come true. 😁

lahdeedah I know our husbands are in very different lines of work but I can relate to a lot of what y'all deal with--sometimes feeling like your life is not your own b/c you have to go where the job is. That's great that you can take your time to find a good neighborhood, school(s), job, etc. I hope your new town will prove to be better than you initially expected. Sounds like your H's boss is helpful/supportive, so that's a good start.

Oh no lfig :/ She's got an appointment in the next few days/week, doesn't she? She’s got some tests next week. A sleep study because she still snores like a freight train post tonsillectomy/adenoid removal. Then an ultrasound and nerve conduction study. But I’m wondering if it’s her Chiari Malformation that is the problem. She was born with it. But has been asymptotic. So it’s one of those things they don’t do anything about unless symptoms pop up. But some of the symptoms are: - unsteady gait (always been an issue) - numbness and tingling in hands and feet - weakness in extremities - sleep apnea I’ve brought it up before and they said “it could be a consideration” but I’m about to get a lot more vocal about it if they don’t figure this shit out. I’m calling her neurosurgeon tomorrow to get them to weigh in on the possibility and included on the conversation trying to get to the bottom of this.

And since I realize most of you probably don’t know what a Chiari Malformation is (except for Sunny41 our resident neuro expert)... Chiari malformation (kee-AH-ree mal-for-MAY-shun) is a condition in which brain tissue extends into your spinal canal. It occurs when part of your skull is abnormally small or misshapen, pressing on your brain and forcing it downward. Basically her hydrocephalus caused it. If this is the issue they would do a decompression surgery which removes a small section of bone in the back of the skull, relieving pressure by giving the brain more room. They also remove a small portion of the spinal column to relieve pressure on your spinal cord and allow more space for the spinal cord. This concludes your neuro lesson for the day.

Wow lfig, those symptoms do seem to be in line with what she's experiencing. If that procedure is something that could alleviate all these issues then I think you're smart to keep pressing and pursue a diagnosis/next steps. I hope you get answers asap.

lfig that is a tough one. I would definitely have them rule it out and do whatever testing possible. I know they did scans last time. Can you request they do something this week while you are on furlough? I see dr Limbrick specializes is them. He's pretty good in my interactions. Is Smyth got other dr? Or is it a different Smith

It seems tedious but my mom and I did her closet this summer and took 12 garbage bags out of her closet! She'd pick something up and be like "oh I haven't even worn this" and put it in the keep pile.. Well maybe there's a reason you haven't worn it! I made her spend the day in bra and underwear and try on every.single.thing. It took HOURS but seriously, 12 garbage bags of extra clothes?! That's insanity.

Yea we've slowly worked our way through my parents house and honestly, you can't even tell. By the time we get one area looking great they've filled up the one I finished before it. I'm releasing ever making them organized people. They just aren't capable of maintaining it.

I think what makes her process effective is that it does take time and there is thought put into it. Tlex had a great 2018 Kon Mari thread on GD last year, it’s great motivation to read others successes and progress.
