thelittleredm Yay for the progress! Thatβs super exciting. Iβd def be packing my hospital bag in the next couple days if I were you. Just incase! Isnβt 4cm considered active labor? Youβre not too far away!

cch, I don't know if it's considered active labor or not, I just know they'll admit you at a 4 minimum. But I walked around at 5cm for almost three weeks with DS2 before he showed up so I'm not holding my breath with this one like I did DS2 lol ETA: I should also add that when I first went to labor and delivery with DS2, the midwife on call sent me home even at a 5 and having regular contractions because she didn't think it was active labor because I could talk and breath fine during them. So I've also given up figuring out when to go in.

So I just assumed once you hit that point they admit you. I know people walk around 2-3cm for weeks but 4-5cm seems like a lot- especially with regular contractions! Pretty crazy how different some Doctors can be. Policies for each practice and hospital vary so much!

cch, So true! My midwife was shocked they wouldn't admit me when I went the first time. It was crazy full moon, everyone having a baby sort of a night and I think the room shortage is why I was sent home. But yeah, it was so bizarre.

thelittleredm yay for progress! I went to a Mama Ballroom class today at one of the local libraries. Omg it was so much fun! And a decent workout too (though I didnβt push it because only 3 weeks PP). Basically it was like light Zumba done wearing baby in a carrier. I loved it. I want to go every week but that will be really tricky because Iβd have to find someone to watch my big kids. Also it starts at 11:30 which is when DS1 gets out of preschool so that person also would have to pick him up. I might see if MIL can help some weeks. Sheβs already going to be helping me Wednesday afternoons so I can go to the weekly New Mothers Group though. But maybe if it works with her schedule Iβll ask her to alternate every other week? Like one week cover Tuesday and the next week cover Wednesday? Ugh why is it so hard to ask for help?? Iβve also been thinking about hiring a motherβs helper a few hours a week but idk how many people like that would be available in the middle of a weekday (seems more like something for after school hours).

dashook, I debated the mother's helper thing this time around but I'll probably just end up asking my MIL if she'll come over to entertain the kits while I do stuff around the house. And that class sounds like so much fun!

I finally got enough checked off of my list today at work to free up some much-needed headspace! Tomorrow is my last day at the office until after leave. Iβll WFH Thursday and Friday to wrap up loose ends and get some things done at home. I had some actual contractions today, and Iβm starting to get a little paranoid about going into labor while at the office.
I see my OB tomorrow, and weβll decide if Iβll head in on Sunday night or Monday morning for the induction, depending on my cervix check. Exciting stuff!!

CharlieB, That's great news! I've been getting farther behind on paperwork at my job and can't seem to keep up with it. And it's month end which makes it more stressful. Thankfully, my manager keyed in that I can't actually do everything at the pace I used to and he grabbed a bunch of it since he was all caught up and now I have way less to worry about. I'm mildly jealous of these inductions, but only because I hate the waiting game lol But also, it seems so weird to know when you'll at least start the process of meeting your baby. It feels like it be so surreal.

Well, my water broke about an hour ago. π³ DS woke up to use the potty, and I felt a small gush when I laid back down in bed. Contractions are pretty irregular and intermittent for now, so Iβm going to take a shower before heading in. Looks like weβre having a baby!

CharlieB omg yay!! Good luck!! I hope everything goes smoothly for you! I got nothing over here! A few little contractions last night but nothing so far today. Like the last three doctor appointments my doctor has been like yup definitely coming out soon you wonβt make it much longer and nothing! I have an appointment tomorrow and Iβm sure if my blood pressure is high she will just go ahead and send me. My scheduled induction is wee hours of the morning on Monday. I so badly wanted him to come on his own!

@amc aww it is so kind of you to reassure me! I read recently that 2/3 of married couples experience lower relationship satisfaction (whatever that means) for the year after their first baby is born, and about 1/6 is the same, 1/6 it improves. So preparing for the worst, hoping for the best! And I've read it's really normal to have strong feelings off hating your partner... So going to try not to take any of those feelings that arise too seriously.
DH said one of his biggest fears about pp time is that I would not be able to give him the grace/space to be just human and feel/act irritable or angry at times when the newborn is here and there's a lot of pressure and little sleep... So I'm trying to frame my mindset differently about it. Like this morning he got really pissy when he was bundled up and overheating and couldn't get his second ski glove on right (and over his healing arm tattoo) before snow blowing yet another eight inches before work and I was able to tell myself, it's not about me and I can help and be patient but I don't have to fix it and I don't have to feel hurt over it. That was a win, I tend to be really sensitive to his mood!

Thanks, ladies! We walked the halls a bit to get things moving, but contractions just arenβt picking up. Pitocin will be starting soon... sunshiney Itβs so frigid! -3 with a wind chill of something crazy when we left the house. But no snow or ice for now.

sunshiney itβll be okay. Iβm a FTM and Iβm worried too how the baby will change my relationship. Weβve had a few issues where MH felt like I was being aloof or not paying him a lot of attention. I wasnβt trying to be but pregnancy brings a lot hormones and icky physical feelings. Sometimes I just wanted to be left alone. I think if you can both be honest about your feelings and keep working at it itβll be fine. Weβve already said sometimes we are going to snap at each other and get frustrated and thatβs okay. Thatβs part of it. That said, Iβm sensitive to MH but right now this is about me lol. Iβm the one who has to birth this baby and feed him and my hormones are going to go crazy and my body is going to take a brutal beating!

CharlieB, Thanks for the update! I hope things start picking up on their own soon so you can avoid the pitocin... @amc, I think 10 days is brilliant. I rarely make it past the first couple nights back at home. Mostly because H sleeps so heavily that I'm super irritated by the time he finally kinda wakes up and then he usually gets extra pissy until he's awake enough to realize he's being an ass. But then he gets all butt-hurt anyway when I snap at him so whatever. I've gotten to where I don't even feel bad anymore. The other day, I asked him when he was planning on going into work and he said "Early." I fucking lost it Lol Snapped at him and told him the clock doesn't tell me words, the clock gives me numbers so he needed to give me a number, not a word. He was pissed and stormed out of my parents' house and told me I didn't have a right to talk to him like that. So there you go. We made up but I still don't feel bad about it. *shrug*

CharlieB, Hope you're making good progress! I'm so done today. I'm so, so done. All I want today is eat and sleep. More specifically, I want to be fed while I lay down with my eyes closed. I have no idea what is wrong with me but I need some caffeine.

Symptom spotting is real today. So dumb. I know better but it just sucks you in! Contractions here and there today but nothing significant. Starving and tired makes my brain assume my body is telling me to prep for a baby to show up soon even though I'm pretty sure she's not showing up until much closer to her due date, if not after. TMI but all the poop. Pretty sure it's the result of eating all the green chile yesterday but can't 100% convince my brain of that.
A nice distraction came tonight, though. My SIL contacted me about figuring out our newborn and hospital pictures. She asked if I wanted labor and post delivery pictures or fresh 48. I literally laughed out loud. Between her normal hospital job and how quick DS2 came (which this end of pregnancy feels like it's mimicking), it seems so unrealistic to try for labor pictures so I said fresh 48 would be perfect.

Baby boy is here! His blood sugar was a smidge low earlier, so we have to keep an eye on that. Temperature regulation is a concern, also because of the IUGR, but weβre managing so far. Iβll post his birth story in a while!
