tjanca22, Dave Ramsey is how we saved for a house! Love that guy. And paid cash for a down payment that was over the 20% goldenlove, I love your list!! I made a plan of mini goals. I’m hoping to lose 12lbs by Valentine’s Day💘 (ok the Saturday after), and 20lbs the day before St. Patty’s Day 🍀! Mini goals got me to where I’m at and I didn’t lose weight in December (maybe 2lbs) But I maintained and didn’t gain so that’s a plus! I am making 50lbs gone (and never coming back) this month!! I will do it! Edit to add the mini goal post it! Over 20% and cash is quite an accomplishment in today’s day and age! Also agree that making smaller weight loss goals makes it feel more attainable, my current goal is 4. Do you find it easier or harder to say X lbs by a specific date?

tjanca22, I find saying X lbs by a specific date easy because I pick attainable goals! (WW says you should expect to lose .5lbs-2lbs/week) Those goals don’t leave room for a plateau but I also think it’s a post-it and I can change it if I have to! Lol If I see my weight loss slowing (which it will do) I know I’ll have to readjust! If I’m doing everything I can it’s not a failure. I think you have to know yourself and if this will wreck you if you don’t meet those goals then you may need to do something different!

I've spent a good portion of the day organizing my house and toy purge. I still have more to do tomorrow but I feel like I made a really good start. I'm taking the day off work tomorrow. I was feeling really guilty about not having a shift and was planning to try to get one, but DH told me I should just take thr day to myself. So Thats what I'm doing. It's still gonna be a busy day, but I'll be crossing stuff off my to-do list, decluttering my house, amd getting things accomplished that would take me 10x as long to do on a day when the boys are home. So consider that "reducing my stress and doing things that make me happy" Yes! I’m so glad your H suggested you take the day for yourself. Please take some time and enjoy and bath and some tea while you can. For me, the hardest part is taking the first step in carving time for myself and I won’t do it on my own. I always feel like I need to be doing something. Cleaning, cooking, work, reading to M,....there’s never ever enough time and I’m doing myself dirty by not putting my own needs (relaxation, mental breaks, whatever) at the same priority level as all the other stuff. That needs to change.

So much yes to that sophiegrace. Like if I'm not doing something productive (or taking care of the boys) I feel super guilty. I'll feel guilty about taking a day off because that money could go toward something. I'll feel guilty about sleeping in because there's cleaning to be done. Etc. Definitely working om changing that perspective. #SelfCare I got a good bit accomplished yesterday. And I 100% did go take a bath at the end of the day rather than staying up and doing more. And I stayed in bed until nearly 10am this morning and feel glorious. I'll get back at it after some breakfast, with more energy than I've had in ages.

I don't know how to bold but "when DH is at sea" is a big part of it for me too. Like I feel like he's out there missing out on stuff to make sure we can pay our bills, and here I am not contributing. But trying to remind myself that I don't need to be "contributing" every single waking moment. Like the man WANTS me to work less because he knows how much I do. It's hard to change how you think. Doing it one break at a time lol.

waitwhat are you low carbing it or doing keto? I have questions. im doing keto! What and how many carbs are you eating in a day? None? Some? Veggies ok? I’m having a ton of stomach trouble whenever I eat carbs. Like, emergent, embarrassing, sick for multiple hours in pain. And I really want to idk..avoid that. Haha. I don’t really want to be doing keto because I don’t want to be throwing myself into ketosis, but maybe if I can do a borderline low carb and keto diet it’s fine? I’ve never done or researched this because I’ve always been able to get away with lower to moderate carb intake as long as I was exercising. I don’t even know what I’m asking you at this point, JFC. Maybe...are there any carbs that are ok on that diet? I can try just eating those. I’m going to stop now.

sophiegrace, my co-work is doing keto, or "dirty keto" as she calls it (I'm not entirely sure what that means, TBH). I think she said she keeps the carbs to 20-25 grams.

Maybe...are there any carbs that are ok on that diet? I can try just eating those. I’m going to stop now. Haha. I am still learning about all this myself! I stick to 20 (net) carbs a day. Some days I don’t even hit that, some days I do. I get most of my carbs from veggies I’d say- peppers, avocado, cauliflower, tomato, broccoli, asparus etc. I have been avoiding fruit because I love fruit and know if I start snacking before I know it the carbs will have added up fast! Cheese sticks are also really good and usually have a carb or two. IMO, 20 carbs is really not a lot. I experienced the “keto flu” this past weekend and it was not delightful. But as of today I am feeling myself again! Maybe try to steer clear of obvious carb sources and get them from fruits and veggies? Your H does keto right? If you ever need any low carb recipes, I have a ton of tried and true ones if you’re interested!

I’m still new to the keto world but I believe dirty keto are those who still eat processed foods on the diet (think a McDonald’s cheeseburger without the bun).

jubilantsquirrel and waitwhat thank you!! I can eat apples and granola bars, so I definitely think I should be hitting the carb intake mark (since I want to be above it) no problem. I maxed out the urine test strip at the doctor’s last week. The doc was very shrugging guy about it, but warned me that the old school doctors will freak out if I keep doing it. But it was the afternoon after everything with my dog and I think Must be sitting near the threshold anyway and then a day of not eating at all pushed me over the edge. I would still love any and all recipes that you’re loving. I’ve made that egg roll in a bowl making its rounds just about everywhere about three times and H and I can’t stop raving about it. H is just GF, not keto, but he’d be pretty darn close if he really wanted to do it. He’s talked about it before, but then the Pringles lure him back in.

There are better chips to cheat with. What's the egg roll in a bowl? Sounds delicious.

This is the recipe I used and it was amazing and super easy. There’s a few different ones floating around, but I think they’re generally the same thing. I did drain the pain after cooking the ground sausage, though. www.bunsinmyoven.com/sausage-egg-roll-in-a-bowl/

That looks really good sophiegrace! I always see those but never tried one. I need to add it to my list. I did make the mexican cauliflower that waitwhat posted recently and it was delicious. We're going to do more cauliflower rice meals.

I made the egg roll in a bowl before and made the mistake of not scrambling the eggs first. I thought I could just whisk them and just drop them in the pan. Newp. It was gross. I need to try it again.

I'm eating this egg roll in a bowl right now and it's really good! My pork didn't break up as much as I would have liked but it's still really good. This a Whole 30 recipe. 40aprons.com/whole30-egg-roll-bowl-paleo/

It was definitely annoying trying to get it broken up. But DS2 ended up loving it too! I made the chili sauce spicy since I wasn't planning on sharing with the kids. Dude wouldn't leave me alone so I gave him a bite telling him "you're going to regret this, kid". Jokes on me because he hate half my bowl!
