Considering his looooooong time coming around to his very unenthusiastic endorsement of hillz. What his campaign just put out about Liz. Yeah he said it. It’s not a reach in my mind
I’m more in for Liz atm. I’ll own it. But if it comes down between Liz and Biden I almost would go joe. Almost. Not that it matters because all two electoral votes in Idaho will go to Cheeto in chief

And his misogynistic ass will never vote for a woman. He spent last election ripping into Hillary and he’s used his platform many times to come after Black women. I could go on and on but my blood pressure gets too high.

Meh - Bernie Sanders wouldn't be the only one, lay person or political pro, who doubted, or still doubts, a woman, no matter how qualified, could win in 2020. Being realistic isn't being evil, IMO.
I do think Warren is trying to go after Sanders. IMO, her lane is narrowing daily and I don't see Biden, Pete, Bloomberg, or Yang voters suddenly leaping to her. Transparency - I would dislike seeing either of them as the party's candidate.

I could go on and on but my blood pressure gets too high. I know I said I would quiet down, but also... a lot of people had a hard time supporting Hillary long before Bernie was a household name. There were some big problems out of the first Clinton White house that really stuck to her. Also, Bernie has also used his voice to elevate and endorse many WOC. And I have to say he has popularity with the Latinx community and has been very involved and supportive of indigenous people. I don’t say this to dismiss any of his obvious short comings, truly. But, there is also a reason he is polling well that I don’t think we should be quick to overlook. ETA also, he very enthusiastically endorsed her when he finally did, and was very vocal about not casing protest votes and the dangers a Trump presidency posed.

I spoke with a rabble rousing compatriot today who was hardcore Liz all along but found her refusal to just say, "Yes, M4A will raise taxes" to be disingenuous and off-putting. Thos person said she felt she had no choice but to shift her support to Bernie. She isn't wowed, but she wants M4A and a GND and sees Bernie as the only avenue. She was a white woman from New England, former teacher, probably early to mid 60's. It was a really interesting conversation.

jaygee Who are you supporting now? I feel like we have similar views and I’m very head scratchy not knowing what to do right now. So maybe you can help me flesh out my choices? If you want lol I’m so lost. In a way I’m enjoying the freedom of not being tied to a candidate. It’s the only silver lining I have. Honestly I think it’s fatigue. I’m just sitting back and watching all the mess and laughing. I will likely support Biden. I like Amy but she’s going to win so I can’t get emotionally invested. I very much dislike Bernie and I find Warren problematic and I have trust issues with her. I will never vote for Pete even if it means jot voting for POTUS. I don’t mess with the others because they aren’t serious contenders in my book. Do I love Biden? No. I did and then I learned more and I’m troubled by a lot. I do trust him more than the others which is a big thing for me. I believe that in 2020+ he will make different decisions than he did earlier. I believe he will have good advisers. I align most closely with his policies of the remaining candidates (I mean they are not my ideal but for who is left, there I am). I believe he will stabilize shit. Most of all I believe he has the trust and support of communities of color. The only way we win is with those votes but also if they trust him, I do too. I am committed to voting like a black woman in 2020. Least inspiring campaign pitch ever. Lol. I’m trying to regain enthusiasm. On a side note - if Kamala or Julian join a ticket as VP pick, I will be all in (barring the candidate being mayor Pete).

Also greykitty as much as it bothers me, you are right that TONS of people have been doing the "Can a woman win?" nonsense since way before even the 2008 primary. They did the, "Can a black man named Barack Obama win" nonsense then, and they're doing, "Can a woman win" in 2016 and 2020. I hate it from pundits, but I have heard so many women say it themselves. It's not that they don't think a woman can nail the job, it's the fear that America isn't ready to set our systemic racism and sexism aside. And what, exactly, would make anyone think we are ready? I don't know what Bernie said to Liz. I would hope he would be encouraging to the junior Senator from Massachusetts in anything she does.

I have faith a woman can and will win in the next few election cycles. We will drag a goodly portion of the country kicking and screaming, but it will happen.
Maybe I am a naive dreamer, but I have to believe.

I do worry about Warren as a candidate because the rich are terrified of her and would have so much money and power at hand to tank her campaign in any way possible.

Yes. Yeah it's bad when a pundit does it, but to actually say it to a potential woman candidate is ouch. And it's possible he THOUGHT he was helping, bc he's Larry David, but what you think you meant doesn't matter if what you said is harmful

I do worry about Warren as a candidate because the rich are terrified of her and would have so much money and power at hand to tank her campaign in any way possible. Interestingly I hadn’t considered that. My concerns were more that she is so well loved by liberal Dems that she ends up polarizing and leaves out swing voters.

I hate that I continue to be disappointed by shit like this.
Again, not a Bernie fan but I’m surprised he did this. Even with his history I would have hoped he would respect Warren enough to not say this to her face.
Ugh.
And this shit just clinches that I’m voting for Warren. I mean, I like her and her policies so it’s not the only reason- but God almighty we have GOT to stop electing old, women-doubting (I almost said women-hating, but don’t want to ruffle feathers) white men to lead our country.
I’m raising 2 girls. And I will do everything in my power to SHOW them women can do anything. Including be POTUS.

I will often ask people who are friendly when I phonebabk and canvas what their #1 issue is bc it's fascinating to see what drives people to action. Also super frustrating a lot of the time. But interesting.
