Julian Castro was in Iowa recently and was great at answering questions about the interests of farmers/rural residents. He clearly admitted he was a "city boy" (<---his words) and didn't know much about it but that he was interested in listening and learning. I saw clips and it felt genuine, unlike what I sometimes see from other politicians. I am not currently #teamJulian but I definitely think he has a lot of potential. I think he needs to be heard. He currently has not met the new threshold for the debates, so hopefully he can get enough exposure and on stage.
He was also in Boise last month, I know his goal is to hit all 50 states.

What is the new threshold? In order to qualify for debates, candidates will need: To register 1 percent or more support in three polls between January 1 and two weeks before the debate. These polls don’t necessarily have to be national polls; public polls in the first four primary and caucus states of Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and/or Nevada also qualify. But they have to be done by major news organizations or qualifying universities.
The DNC is also trying to incentivize grassroots donations. Candidates can qualify for the debates if they show their campaign has received donations from a t least 65,000 unique donors and a minimum of 200 unique donors per state in at least 20 US states.

Thanks for reminding me to throw some money at him.

Maybe it’s Republicans who think he’s the best opponent.

Didn't Bernie's campaign do a miserable job of tracking if donations were legal (as in not over the limit and not from foreign sources) last time around? It wouldn't at all shock me if it's happening again. Obviously errors have happened and will continue to happen in every campaign but I seem to remember his being almost excessive. He's still trying to make the "most popular candidate" thing stick so maybe they care more about getting the money right now than whether or not they can keep it.

The fact he hasn’t released his taxes makes me think something nefarious is going on

I'd like to see the next POTUS establish an anti-voter suppression department of some sort and put Stacey Abrams in charge of it. I'm not 100% sure how that would work with election boards being under state authority.

I'm not 100% sure how that would work with election boards being under state authority. Wouldn't that have to include restoring tenets of the Voting Rights Act that have been overturned and dealing with (or decimating) Citizens United?
I think we need to sue from the other side, but with this particular SCOTUS I dont see them reversing anything.

SCOOP - @ericswalwell is moving forward with his presidential announcement next week with a town hall in Parkland and a scheduled announcement on Colbert. He’s going to focus his campaign on gun control: t.co/6lk1Nk3lSx

I'm going to try to make it down to South Bend on the 14th to check it out. It would be nice I think to hear Pete speak in person, and see if he makes the same impression on a big stage/ crowd as he does in interviews.
I'm really hoping to make it over to Detroit for the debates. I want to see/hear as many of the candidates as I can.

I've seen it mentioned by others but not at the full-throated consistency I've been wanting to see.
