This is why senior administration officials should actually have some government experience, instead of just being outspoken supporters of the president 😤 It's why political appointees should take counsel from career civil servants. Career civil servants know how their agencies run and what their departments do. They create briefing books for any new administration so the pres and appointees fully understand. The problem is this administration, at least at the top, doesn't GAF and so haven't bothered to educate themselves about what the government agencies do. RAAAAAAAAGE! I’ll never forget the stories from around the inauguration where some people from Trump’s campaign did not realize how many people in the WH were leaving with Obama and therefore how many had to be replaced.

So Trump and his mobsters get a 10k raise while 800k work without pay?
And there was another shooting last night.
God dammit, everybody.

I know you all know this. This man is beyond delusional. What 93% number is he even referencing? Obviously his approval rating is not that. Did he just pull it out of thin air?

Did he just pull it out of thin air? 93% of the people he talks to on a regular basis approve of him. The other 7% are incapable of speech, such as the paintings of former presidents someone suggested earlier that he’s been talking to.

I thought Collins had said she was going to retire, but maybe that was an effort to push people away from that crowdfunding for her eventual opponent.

Trump is not good at any of this. There must be something coming about the campaign finance violation soon. If he hadn't tweeted about it today, I would have been more focused on the shutdown. Here's hoping next week brings some positives for us.

I am late but Maine has a first female governor and I also wanted to share this video from the inauguration. Maine is very white but does have a sizable refugee population and I loved seeing them represented.

She also immediately approved Medicaid expansion which was approved by voters in 2017 and held up by the asshole ex governor.

The COS at the Pentagon resigned. Like, how bad is that? I suppose I can understand resigning in protest of implementing a national emergency for the wall, but now what happens?

Mick Mulvaney is just embarrassing himself on MTP.
Says he no longer thinks the wall is absurd because “circumstances change” and when asked what the WH has offered Dems for wall money, he said that the wall will be made of steel and not concrete.

Check out @arlenparsa’s Tweet: Slowed down to half speed you can see how Trump's logic sounds just like that of a drunk person. I am going to struggle to put this into the correct words, so bear with me: I agree that his behavior *should* be deeply concerning. But I don’t think he’s drunk (beyond the fact that he says he doesn’t drink), I don’t think he’s on something, I don’t even think there is some mental deficit that has a medical cause. My FIL talks in literally the exact same manner; he has for the 12 years I’ve known him and when I’ve quizzed H on it he says he doesn’t think it was this bad when he was a child but has gotten progressively worse over the last 20 years. That speech pattern- in my FIL at least- is what he relapses too when he realizes he’s not winning an argument because no matter how confidently or matter of factly he speaks you’re going to call him out on his bullshit. So he shifts to this mumbling, circular logic to try and confuse you so you get distracted and point out he doesn’t make sense and ask what’s wrong because he’s not making sense and suddenly the conversation isn’t about whatever it was in the first place anymore. It’s moved on to something he’s in control of, that he’s sent it to, and that’s a lot more comfortable for him so in his mind he has won. So it is deeply concerning but not for the same reasons I think Chris Hayes is implying. It’s concerning because it’s behavior of someone who doesn’t have the answers and isn’t even bright enough to try to find them or realize they are needed or care that they’re needed. It’s someone who has decided that what they know is all they need to know and to hell with anyone suggesting otherwise. Those are deeply concerning personal attributes for anyone in a position of power of leadership IMO, but most especially for the POTUS. Sorry that’s a novel. I obviously have a lot of feels. And it’s probably why I have such a visceral reaction to 45 but all of it- the way he talks, his reliance on insults and belittling anyone who doesn’t agree with him- it’s just all so familiar in a not good way. Every alcoholic I have ever known does this when they're intoxicated. Keep changing the argument until they are "right" about something. It's masterful gaslighting. Obviously I'm not saying Trump is an alcoholic, but it reeks of an arrogant and impaired brain.

Absolutely heartbreaking but I’m still confused as to why so many people thought the shooter was a 40-something White guy. I know the person of interest has now been arrested so not sure if he’s confessed or what. I’m just questioning because I want the correct guy caught.

Obviously I'm not saying Trump is an alcoholic, but it reeks of an arrogant and impaired brain. After a thread last week (was it UO?) I was hesitant to use the term gaslighting even though I have previously believed it’s the best term to describe my ILs. I agree it reeks of arrogance, I’m just not sure it’s something beyond extreme arrogance that has completely warped the person. I could be extrapolating though since that’s what’s going on in my life.

This kind of explains it, but basically it sounds like the shooting came from one side of the car and when Jazmine’s mom and siblings looked up after the shots they saw the red truck speeding off. He was fleeing after hearing shots but they thought he was fleeing after shooting. As did other witnesses.

My personal opinion is that T is not an alcoholic but probably has brain damage from drug use like speed type drugs (which I believe he has stopped and that’s why he’s so heavy now) and possibly some dementia. That combined with imposter syndrome and narcissistic personality disorder plus not having a good vocabulary is just a hot mess of whatever he is.
Not that I’m an expert or anything. 🤷🏻♀️
