Not all the time but definitely get hot flashes. Although with Christmas shopping I find malls are so warm! People are walking around with jackets and warm clothes and I am there like taking off all the layers and putting my hair up haha

Not yet. Last pregnancy I definitely had this during the last trimester, so I'm sure it's coming soon!

I am cold all the time. But I also need air flow so I have to turn the overhead fans on, but then crank up the heat. My body is so confused.

I'm stuck in this really fun middle zone where I have to keep the thermostat at 70 at night otherwise I sweat to death, but when I'm up for the day that's too cold, but 71 is really too hot. So I usually adjust it 7 times a day and am constantly shedding or putting on new layers to find the perfect comfort level.
I have yet to find it 😂

I’m constantly freezing, too, which is weird bc I always run hot. I asked on FB for recs for a maternity coat and all the responses were “you won’t need one, you’ll be boiling”. Nope, not boiling. I ended up buying one from Old Navy in Black Friday, it’s yet to ship, and I’ve been wearing one of H’s that barely zips over my bump.

So it turns out the thermostat in the office was set to 80. I think that was most of the problem today. I would still am warmer than normal especially at night but I was dying the office today.

I’ve been cold too, which is abnormal for me. I got warm today in my office though, but then cold other times. My body needs to figure out what it’s doing!
What do BH feel like? Is it like a period cramp or something else?

The Christmas discussion in the check in has me thinking about Christmas morning breakfast. What do you guys make? We do pancakes/waffles/french toast/eggs/bacon or some variation every weekend, so I want something special. Maybe like a french toast bake? I did a Barefoot Contessa one years ago with brioche and it was divine. I will miss mimosas and baileys coffee, ha! Next year... (and every year after🤣)

My first was almost a car baby because I was like oh it's BH, but it was as not. I felt like my labor pains felt like tightening all over my stomach.

(and every year after🤣) My mom made Canadian bacon sunrise biscuits and hashbrowns every year, so we have kind of adapted that (I just make them with bacon instead, I'm not crazy about Canadian bacon) but really it's just bacon egg and cheese on a biscuit, lol. But we honestly don't make them during the rest of the year so it's still "special". Wherever we end up for lunch on Christmas day usually isn't until 1/2pm so I like to have a hearty breakfast, since we're usually up early, too! The first year we were married we didn't visit family and I thought I would do my own thing and made bacon pancakes (making pancakes making bacon pancakes 🎶 😉) and it was more hassle than it was worth, haha.

I felt like my labor pains felt like tightening all over my stomach. In my experience the only way I knew I was having BH was that there was absolutely no pain associated, it just felt like tightness. Even with early labor it still felt like cramps. With BH I would just notice that my stomach felt super hard and then it would pass and wasn't really timeable.

However, we’re doing a smorgasbord this year since my H’s parents and grandparents are staying with us for the holiday. I’m making a bacon, cheddar and broccoli quiche ahead of time (using Valerie Bertinelli’s crust recipe), H is baking homemade cinnamon rolls and will make his amazing hash/ potatoes, we’ll do fruit parfaits with vanilla yogurt, granola and berries, and we’ll make a gigantic fruit salad. Plus Irish coffee, mimosas, and some special drink H is thinking up for me. I’m debating if we need something chocolatey, but what we’re already planning is overkill considering we graze all day on Xmas.

pambee, Eames, come on over, the more the merrier! The amount of food that we're planning for the in-laws 3 days here is obscene. OBSCENE. But my mantra for the holiday season has been "I can't drink, so damn it, I'm going to eat". So. Lol. Thankfully my H is an excellent chef/ baker, so I get to pass off a bunch of stuff to him and sit with my feet up with the dogs.

I’m sure I’ll be full of regret once I’m trying to lose the baby weight, but oh well! 😂

What do BH feel like? Is it like a period cramp or something else? For me early labor felt like period cramps low and in front. BH feel like you're baby is pushing out everywhere all at once. They can be uncomfortable. With my son I know I was getting 3 or 4 an hour one day about 32 weeks along. I was achy that day but it wasnt dialating my cervix. It did have me googling quite a bit.

(and every year after🤣) My family does a mixed berry French toast bake (maybe the barefoot contessa one? I’m not the family chef) and a veggie egg casserole. I basically eat the eggs so I can have all the French toast bake without being rude to the cooks H’s family does an egg casserole, hashbrown casserole, fruit, cinnamon rolls... probably more. Grits? There are a lot of people so there’s a lot of food too.

I haven’t felt anything like BH yet. Y’all...I haven’t even started thinking about Christmas morning breakfast. I am now though It will either just be H and I or the two of us plus H’s one friend. I can’t justify a ton of food for just us. H doesn’t really like sweet things for breakfast, and he doesn’t really like casseroles, so I’m sure we’ll have a breakfast pizza or eggs with toast and bacon/sausage.

I had preterm labour for +8 weeks with D1 and a couple scares with D2. Some differences between BH and real contractions:
- BH feel like a hardness either all over or on one side more than the other of your belly - real ctx move as a wave of hardening from top to bottom, softening in that same pattern as they ease
- BH can usually be made to ease up with a change in position/drinking water/sitting with your feet up/taking a bath - real ctx don’t give a shit what you’re doing
- BH often feel like they’ll take your breath away, or feel like a stitch in your side from running - real ctx often feel like period cramps, low and making you want to shift around to try and get comfortable
- if it’s timeable, get checked out, even if it’s not more than a bit of discomfort. I often couldn’t decide between real or BH, but the timeable pattern was what was making my cervix efface and dilate. They always always always prefer that you come get checked out rather than worry and wait. That said, BH are totally normal and some people have more irritable uteruses than others (🙋🏻♀️). I have a few BH every hour, more if I’m up and walking around. And anytime baby pokes or presses hard on one spot it will trigger a BH.

Tlex very thorough description. I think my ute is somewhat irritable just bumping my belly into my desk will cause a BH contraction. However not irritable enough to cause early babies. I know with my first i wasnt noticing BH until 36 weeks, but once i knew thats what it was I am sure I had been having them for a few weeks. I had them earlier the second time and earlier still this time.
