Weeks pregnant/Due date: 20 weeks today, 4/22/19
Baby is the size of a: banana, red bell pepper, belgian endive...
FTM/STM/TTM/etc: FTM
Team: Blue! Max 💙💙
Appointments: 12/27
Symptoms: dysgeusia, constipation, some residual nausea
Milestones: 20 weeks! we made it half way! I also felt baby really kick for the first time, and I passed my GD test (will retake at 24 weeks)
Rants/Raves/Vents: I need to rave about my new practice. I needed to get in to get the A/S super quickly because I'm traveling incessantly in December and would miss the cut off of when she'd be able to get the right measurements, and they managed to get my records and get me into see the nurse coordinator and one of the OBs, along with doing my a/s, and seeing their billing department within 48 hours. Our chat with the nurse coordinator lasted, no joke, an hour and 45 minutes, where she took all of our medical history, gave us advice on diet and meds and travel and pediatricians and birthing/ breastfeeding classes and so much more. She then handed us this gigantic bag of samples with info on everything, including pre-registering at the hospital, which I had no clue we needed to do so soon with our hospital. When we left her, she gave me a hug and said that we were going to get my baby here safely and she could tell I was going to be a wonderful mother. So of course I cried, and then I cried harder when the a/s went so well and we saw Max and he was so sweet. Billing was perfect, they laid out how everything worked so there's no surprises. And then we met with one of the OBs and she was fabulous, reiterated everything the nurse said and was incredibly welcoming and warm. When H and I left, we both just kept saying how this was a complete 180 from the last place - like, these women are INVESTED in me as a patient and my son and I was basically just a number at the last place. I also did my GD drink test on Friday and this practice emails you to let you know your results are in the portal (first of all - it took less than 24 business hours for results AND they were uploaded AND they let me know?!! This is legit revelation). Then they called to tell me everything came back perfectly. The communication is just blowing my mind. I am SO SO SO happy that we decided to move to this practice. Plus, they have 8 midwives and I'm stoked that I can rely on them for support and still have an OB there if anything goes sideways and I need intervention. *sigh* I love them. I'm so happy.
GTKY: What are your favorite holiday traditions? They all revolve around food, LOL. H and I always do a lasagna dinner the night we decorate the tree (usually around 10 days before Christmas) and watch the classics - Frosty, the Grinch, Rudolph, Charlie Brown Christmas. I always bake the weekend before the holiday (which will coincide in my deep clean of my house this year since my inlaws will be at our place for the holiday). We always do chicken enchiladas for Christmas dinner and watch Christmas Vacation that night.

Weeks pregnant/Due date: 24w4d March 21 Baby is the size of a: GI Joe FTM/STM/TTM/etc: STM Team: Blue Appointments: Tomorrow for fetal echo and follow up on what they couldn't get at a/s. I'm excited to see him again Symptoms: I have to pee all the time. I feel like every time I stand up I have to go, and I'm back to getting up twice at night. Hormones still out of control. Belly has definitely grown a lot in the last few weeks, I'm bumping into everything. Feel him move all the time, but it's still all so low! Milestones: Viability 🎉 I also scheduled my RCS at my last appt, eviction date set for 3/14 as long as he follows schedule! Rants/Raves/Vents: I already feel like I'm nesting but there's still so much time! I really need to get on getting him a dresser so I can sort and wash all the clothes we've gotten. GTKY: What are your favorite holiday traditions? So many, this is my favorite time of year! Baking cookies, having our decorations up, going to light shows and visiting Santa, we do elf on the shelf and even though he doesn't get super creative, he brings lots of laughs on Christmas Eve we go to candlelight service and then to my mom's to read Christmas books and have snacks. I love how magical everything is!

Weeks pregnant/Due date: 24w1d, delivery date week of March 3
Baby is the size of a: 1lb8oz and 1lb9oz at the growth scan today! Perfectly on track!
FTM/STM/TTM/etc: STM/TTM (twins)
Team: Double blue 💙💙
Appointments: Growth scan today, OB check this Friday
Symptoms: Feeling like I entirely skipped 2nd tri. Sleeping is uncomfortable and my hips hurt. A little achy and moving slow. When I drop stuff I'm already thinking about if it's worth bending over to get it.
Milestones: Viability day yesterday! Also a great scan again today. We're exactly on track with both twins.
Rants/Raves/Vents: My 4 yo is pushing our buttons over... clothes. Apparently she hates pants, undies, her coat, snow pants, and snow boots. As soon as stuff gets halfway on, she slithers out and flails around saying it's "not right." I'm at my wits end. I think some of it may be a control thing because she knows a change is coming (or she's just being an asshole, which is possible). I think my H plays right into it when he lets it rile him up. I have new looser bigger clothes to give her for christmas that we can give her, but he thinks she needs to wear what she has and it's rewarding her behavior by giving new stuff. I see what he's saying, but if she only likes her jogger pants (not leggings because they're tight), and we have joggers waiting to be given... why make it a battle? Gah.
GTKY: What are your favorite holiday traditions? We usually chop down the tree the weekend after TG. Seeing Santa at the big department store and a nice lunch out. Christmas Eve at my sister's house.

Symptoms: I have to pee all the time. I feel like every time I stand up I have to go, and I'm back to getting up twice at night. God, yes, the peeing. So much peeing. I've stopped allowing myself anything to drink after dinner because then I'm up 14 times in the middle of the night. Where the hell is this pee even coming from?

Eames, you mean the clothing battle does not end when they turn 4?! My 3 year old will only wear dresses. I bought her all these adorable fall and winter clothes and she won't wear them. Insisted on her summer dresses with long sleeves underneath. I finally had enough of the battle and bought her some long sleeve dresses, and enlisted the help of her grandmothers, who would be happy to indulge her every want if I would let them. Now she's the proud owner of enough dresses that I don't have to fight with her every morning.

Weeks pregnant/Due date: 20 + 5 / April 17th
Baby is the size of a: Head of an endive (?)
FTM/STM/TTM/etc: STM
Team: Blue
Appointments: Dec. 14th
Symptoms: None really, just lots of movement.
Milestones: Past halfway!
Rants/Raves/Vents: This sinus infection is killing me! I think I may finally be getting a bit better but man. Being sick while pregnant is really horrible.
GTKY: What are your favorite holiday traditions? We do a nice Christmas Eve dinner, followed by pjs and Christmas movies, and then we read "The Night Before Christmas" before bed. Then a nice breakfast and mimosas on Christmas morning before opening presents (well, no mimosas this year, boo.) It's been nice to begin to create new traditions for our little family over the last few years.

She does not request to only wear big fancy dresses anymore she will wear some activity appropriate clothing. Like jeans on my dad's farm but oversll clothes is still a very picky situation. There have been so many tears shed by her because of clothing.

Don't mean to derail the check in thread but thank you for responding regarding clothes... I went down a rabbit hole today, convincing myself that DD has sensory issues. The only thing that really bothers her is clothes, though - she's typical-kid picky about food but eats most things/textures.
I think I'm going to push back to my H's "tough" approach and we'll give her some of her new clothes early to see what happens. If she has a range of clothes that she likes, are seasonally appropriate, and we let her pick - maybe it will help?

Eames My 3 yr old can be picky about clothes, but in reality, it’s usually not about the clothes. I think it’s a mix of control and transition (aka getting in the car to go to school when she’d rather color). She wears a uniform to school, but on weekends I’ll either let her go pick her own seasonally appropriate clothes from her room or give her 2-3 options if we’re going somewhere where I want her to look nice. It’s helped a lot, although sometimes results in her wearing hideous outfits in public. We do the Love and Logic (I think that’s what it is) method of giving her a ton of small choices. Mom or dad to dress, white or pink socks, get dressed upstairs or downstairs, before or after breakfast, etc. And I also threaten to take things away or sometimes her baby will go to timeout until she’s dressed.

I just bought my kids 3 more ON tutu dresses each to end the daily “but I want to wear a tutu dress” conversation. Have at it.

Weeks pregnant/Due date: 26+5, March 6 Baby is the size of a: approx 16”/2 lbs FTM/STM/TTM/etc: TTM Team: Blue Appointments: ummm so many. Endocrinologist on weds, nurse/dietician on Friday, Prenatal mental health on Monday, OB on Tuesday, growth scan the following Wednesday Symptoms: Sore and breathless, checks out. Milestones: third tri on Wednesday, can’t believe it Rants/Raves/Vents: gestational diabetes is official, I’m sulking. Hard to be shocked given how far ahead I was measuring last week (6 weeks). GTKY: What are your favorite holiday traditions? The FOOD (sob), music, movies, lights, Christmas Eve parties, and now playing Santa... Christmas was very stressful as a kid (my mom can’t handle holidays) but now that I’m a grown up and make all the rules and have my own kids, it’s been very healing and I feel like I’ve taken it all back as my own

grover wtf I did such a disgusted face as I read that...people are so stupid about babies coming early. Don’t put that out there to someone who already already has on the back of their mind the worry that they’ll stay in long enough. In the words of my 2.5 year old... “stop talking!!!!!!”

Oh my gosh grover that is the opposite of helpful or supportive. I never understand how people (especially people who have had children of their own) don't understand the seriousness of babies keeping put! A lot of pregnant ladies (ESPECIALLY WITH TWINS) get big quickly. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THE BABIES ARE READY TO COME OUT. Sheesh.

A lot of pregnant ladies (ESPECIALLY WITH TWINS) get big quickly. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THE BABIES ARE READY TO COME OUT. Sheesh. I'm one of the ones who regularly get big quickly. I gained all my weight with DD between fertility meds and first tri. Barely gained in 2nd tri, and actually lost some weight in 3rd tri. I was in maternity pants this time by 5/6 weeks. Thankfully it's mostly belly, but still, I've not only outgrown my old maternity clothes, but my friend gave me her XL and 1X maternity clothes and I'm already pushing the leggings to the point where I need bigger. So on top of exclaiming "You're so big!!" the comments about going super early are sooo annoying. Even my principal said last week when she saw me, "When are you due again?" Though I will say I'm guessing she's remembering how she didn't have a leave sub for me set up when I came in with the drs note that I was done working effective the next day... My VP mentioned when I brought up a sub for this leave that if I can try my best to keep working til Christmas break, he'll get a sub or two lined up and interviewed over Christmas break/first week back. I hope I don't need bed rest, but I want to have a plan for it.

pambee Ahhh that you have your RCS scheduled. I wonder if my doctor will want to talk dates at my next appt! I'm not sure when they normally schedule them, but the office had called the week before to get the rest of my normal appointments scheduled and found out my OB is on vacation the week of my due date and she mentioned I should ask if she'd want to schedule it before or after to know how to manage my last reg appointment or 2. So I brought it up at my next appointment and basically suggested we schedule it the week before so I could know she'd be there to deliver, haha. It feels CRAZY to have it on the books already! And makes me think he's going to decide to come earlier just because I think I have it all set now, lol.

grover, people say the worst things. Hang in there! I am also feeling that my maternity pants are already really tight... I started about 10 pounds heavier than when I got KU with my daughter. Plus the twin part. My belly has been measuring ~10 weeks ahead so I understand. The comments can gtfo. In other crazy comments, I had someone mention to me (in a work setting) that they are a twin, but when they were growing up it was back in the 80s when there were "real" twins. When I inquired what that meant, she said, "well, there are just so many now because of fertility stuff, it's not as special anymore." Like I could respond with so many things but what the fucking fuck!?!? I was so offended. She doesn't know me or more story so it pissed me right off. My identicals happen to be spontaneous but babies are pretty damn special no matter what.

Team: Pink!!
Appointments: Dec 17th with my OB
Symptoms: Getting cold easily, sore nips, constipation, emotional at times, belly is getting bigger

Rants/Raves/Vents: ILs will be here next week, and we are taking them for a surprise US while they’re here. I’m so excited to see their faces when they see our daughter!

We had such a great time doing it last year, and I can’t wait to do it with the ILs next week. I also like decorating our tree and watching the classic Christmas movies.
