Happy Friday!

I’m working from home and dh took the day off to get stuff done. I designed some shelves for the kids toys so I’m going to help with that a bit and he’ll stain the wood. Hopefully he’ll get the garage cleaned for the first time in months too.

Tonight will be low key. I want to watch the Christmas chronicles movie on Netflix. Anyone seen it yet?

I feel awful this morning. I dry heaved for 15 minutes and my stomach hurts from that. I finally kept down breakfast but my stomach still hurts. J is so whiny and wearing on me. My damn pony got out and stomped my bunnys food thing and ruined all the food and I can't catch the dang pony to get her in. So now I have to go to the farm store and get more food and treats for them.

We have friends giving tomorrow and that's normally when I would have the Mrs. Claus box show up. Right after dinner. But that's not going to work. Should I do it in the morning? I can put a can of cinnamon rolls or a box of donuts and they can watch a Christmas movie while I'm cooking for the friendsgiving.

Cadence's class works in their journals on Fridays. I really want to see the content of said journal. Is it just pictures? Scribbles? Her name over and over? I'm intrigued and wondering if I'll ever get to see it.

Good morning! My mom and aunt are coming to visit today (again) I’m excited for that. MH will be home next week yay!

I finally ordered our Christmas cards! I was going to wait for MH to get home to take a nice picture but I think it would be cutting it too close....... so I used the most recent we had of all of us....... lol. 😬 I’ll just say it’s not a professional photo.

Rough morning over here.

TW: child loss

I had a nightmare that Dude went missing and presumed to have drowned. This is my subconscious telling me I’m very worried about him, right? But I think he’s doing great ATM, so IDK.

Obviously, it shook me and I couldn’t sleep at all after that. Then we got to school and he was like a deer in headlights because it’s a day off so all the kids are at the on-site daycare and it was louder/much more chaotic than usual. He simply cannot do environments like that. His teachers and I have discussed the fact that he’s really sensitive to that kind of thing and tends to get overwhelmed quickly, so they were sweet about easing him over to a quiet corner where he could sit with a book and wear some noise cancelling headphones. It was nice to see them immediately recognizing his needs and responding accordingly.

Morning! er, afternoon.

DH had today off b/c of the party last night, so I got to sleep in and then headed out for a hair appointment at 9. It's rainy and gross here, so now C and I are chilling at the house while mH does a flight.

My parents sent me an assortment of things for my bday, and two of them arrived today...a Barefoot dreams robe and matching cuddly socks. The. Best. I may never put on actual clothes again.

No big plans this afternoon; we are going to have an 'in-house date night' after the kids are down tonight and mH is making veal chops and risotto. I want to watch a Christmas movie and can't decide b/n an old favorite or one of the new ones. #FWP

cagoldi, I've noticed Cadence is being more and more effected by noise. I feel like her immediate reaction to everything is hands over her ears. Even in dance class if she feels the teacher has the music too loud she will dance with her hands over them. One of the dance moms asked if she had an ear infection, but nope, she got the all clear at her well check and it's been an ongoing thing.

sands42 RE: holiday cards, I think most people just enjoy seeing how much the kids have grown and getting some festive mail. We are not doing a professional Xmas card photo either...we did pro photos last year and i have exactly ONE displayed in the house so far, despite having gotten some printed. I cannot justify having more taken just to sit in a drawer. We got some decent pics of the 4 of us over T'giving, and if I can get something cute of the kids in their Christmas outfits I will call it good

We don't do "Mrs. Claus" gifts but our elf shows up tomorrow and brings Christmas pj's. Probably should wrap those today...

Madison is 7 now and I realized it's probably the last year she'll believe in Santa. We saw the beginning of a Disneyland Christmas special last night and she exclaimed, "There's people inside of Minnie and Mickey." *sigh* She's growing up, but I'm glad she'll still snuggle with me.

Also, random but in light of my rant about Florida's Natural OJ the other day...

So I was studying the carton this morning (and inwardly fuming about its reduced size) when I realized I went to college with the guy on the side of the container! He was in the fraternity that was in the house next door to my sorority, and is now a citrus grower in central FL.

Gosh, so young?! I feel like I mostly believed in Santa until 3rd/4th grade-ish. I remember when the Tim Allen "Santa Clause" movie came out, that kind of renewed my faith, like, "they wouldn't make a movie about it if he wasn't real, right?"

My co-worker's son is 11 and she said he believed up till last year.  And that was because they got his little sister something that needed to be assembled and accidentally left the box in the garbage, which he saw and asked her about.  He truly didn't know until then.  She said she literally watched the gears spinning in his brain when he saw the box.  Like she saw that "lightbulb" moment.

So you might have another year or 2... hopefully!

flamingo the "in house" date night sounds nice. MH and I do this occasionally with sushi. Sometimes I even prefer that sort of date night to the pain of getting a sitter, getting dressed, picking a place to go, etc.

Yep, I agree, sometimes it's nice to have a good meal or take-out at home.

We don’t have a babysitter here yet so we do a lot of these nights. We have one tonight for pizza and the Christmas Prince.
