I’ve given up on sleep 😩. Anyone else? The last week or two, I've been having a few bad sleep nights. But I'm only peeing once overnight now which helps a lot! Still take a unisom nightly, wake up early when it wears off, then take a morning nap... It's working so far. Body pillow, humidifier, and keeping the room cooler have helped me. Good luck!!

My sister and aunt are Co hosting my baby shower Sunday. Sister forwarded a text she just got... Assuming it's from an older lady?
"I was looking at Sunshiney's registries and am confused/concerned. They seem to overlap quite a bit and are missing important things. Does she really already have... (Goes on to list most of the already purchased items)."
So I've checked rigorously and there is not a single overlapping item? (2 registries, Target and Amazon). As far as missing important things... Not sure what those would be. I think it's sweet and also funny! But also makes me paranoid of guests judging me based on my registry... Everyone has different preferences, one person's must have is another person's silly purchase, right?
I'm curious, What if anything do you judge on another person's registry?
I have items ranging from $3-$250 (but most items above $100 have already been purchased by close family), most are in the $10-25 range. I have some repeats of the same (gender neutral, basic) onesies and pajamas but in different sizes. Didn't include any bibs, blankets, hats, because I make them plus I know people like to pick cute ones. Feel pretty vulnerable putting registries out there and trying to remind myself if anyone judges it's more about them than me...??

My body pillow is a godsend for sure. I’m going to start taking some legit anti reflux meds I think. The reflux and nightly indigestion, peeing, and insomnia are just not a good combination 😬.

k thankfully the pregsomnia hasn’t hit me hard yet. It’s been tougher to fall asleep after using the restroom the last couple nights but I’m chalking that up to this cold I have. sunshiney I wouldn’t worry too much. I’m sure it’s just an old lady thing lol I don’t think I’d judge anyone’s registry bc there’s no way to know what they already have and what they really want/need. Everyone’s preferences are different. Yay for your baby shower this weekend! That’s exciting!

My heart has been beating really fast. It’s been up since second trimester and sometimes it really gets going. I’m just sitting at my desk right now as it’s going over 100. I read it’s normal to be up a little bit but this seems like a lot. Anyone else experiencing this? I can honestly say my stress level is super high right now which I’m not sure isn’t helping.

strawberrykiki, my resting heart rate has been very high this pregnancy. I'm sitting and calm and it's currently 101. But I don't normally have the feeling of a racing heart, that's more of an anxiety symptom for me.

@sushiney I can’t really think of anything I’d be judgey about, only if everything was really expensive. car seat, stroller, high chair, crib, diapers, wipes?

I’ve given up on sleep 😩. Anyone else? I'm already to the "I'm probably going sleep better once I have a newborn" stage of pregnant sleep. I'm usually ok for a 4-6 hour block of sleep (sometimes with a quick wake up to pee, then right back to sleep), then anything after that is hit or miss. By about 3 or 4am, my carpal tunnel is at its peak and I cannot get comfortable due to the pain/numbness going all the way up both arms, not matter how I position myself. ETA: Googling my symptoms tells me I'm more likely dealing with thoracic outlet syndrome rather than carpal tunnel. Explains why the wrist braces I've tried wearing don't help with the pain/numbness like they did with my 1st pregnancy. Add in sleep disruptions by my outside kiddos, and sleep is just not going all that great at the moment. Last night it was DS2 crying and yelling "mama" over the monitor at 11:30pm, followed by DS1 coming out of his room at 2:00am telling me he was all done sleeping and wanted to "read books to his fire truck." I have the numbness too! So weird. Thankfully MH has been really good about getting up with the boys. I had just fallen back to sleep last night and gotten comfortable last night when DS1 woke up bc he had to poop 🙄. Ahh I’m trying not to complain but whoa this pregnancy is a world of difference. I must be getting old.

strawberrykiki I've experienced a racing heart feeling several times when I know I'm not consciously stressed or anxious...DH thinks it's when I'm more out of breath (like reading Happiest Baby on the Block aloud to him lol) and said he read that's normal. But something else I thought of is that I thought I was having mild inexplicable panic attacks in high school from the racing heart feeling and it turned out to be acid reflux... It can create that symptom in some people. It went away when I treated my gerd.

I had emailed my drs office over the weekend asking if I can take anything different than Zantac for the reflux. Yesterday the nurse called and said to switch to a bland diet 😕 Well today they called back and said they will call in a prescription in case I need it. It's been so so bad lately!
As far as judging registries, I'll admit that I do sometimes. Mostly just things that are not useful at all (which I know I had on mine as a ftm), or things that are deemed unsafe like the bundle-me or crib bumpers. Or the people who only have the most expensive version of everything possible on there, and only expensive items.

I'm thankful to be pregnant and to be carrying this baby to the point where all the discomforts are increasing, but I will be thankful to have them out of my body when it's time. @amc You summed it up perfectly ❤️ k I feel like being this pregnant at 34/35 is a much different experience than being this pregnant at 31 was. I have so many more aches and pains. Or maybe that’s just motherhood aging me 😉

I used my 20% Target coupon from Black Friday to order the last big haul for this baby. Now we just need diapers, and *gulp* we need to switch DS to a twin bed and rearrange furniture. I’m not ready, but MH insists that it’s time and that he can handle MOTN antics during the transition. We’ll see about that, buddy. I’m trying to get DS super excited about his big kid bed with car sheets before the mattress is delivered next week 🤞

I failed my three hour test too I’m pretty upset but not surprised I guess. A nutritionist should be calling me and I have to go pick up a monitor from my pharmacy. This really sucks.

strawberrykiki I'm so sorry friend. It can't be easy sticking to the hard work of the GD diet and testing. I hope it ends up going smoothly for you and that YH is a great helpful support! Saying a prayer for yours and LOs good health!

sunshiney I don't judge anyone's registry, I assume people are adding what they want so they can use gift cards or the discount. I get sad when there isn't anything exciting to buy but I know most people must have been gifted the items already or bought the items I would have wanted to gift. But I know how much time and energy goes to picking things out and assume it's for a reason.

I know that's disappointing. Hopefully with some diet modifications you can keep it in check. And if not then there is medication. Just remember it isn't your fault and you didn't do anything to cause it.

tngrl3 thank you. What do they usually advise as far as delivery? Will they induce me early? I’m most worried about that part

strawberrykiki That’s such a bummer. 😔 I’m sorry. A close friend of mine was diagnosed with GD (managed with insulin) and just delivered a healthy 7 lb baby girl. She went into labor spontaneously and there were no complications. FX things are managed without too much headache on your part, but I know it’s a big adjustment.

tngrl3 thank you. What do they usually advise as far as delivery? Will they induce me early? I’m most worried about that part Some OBs will go with delivering a little early but if you control your blood sugars then it is possible to have an averaged size baby and go full term. I don't remember there being a plan to deliver early with DD1 but I ended up having an urgent C-section with her because my blood pressure shot up out of nowhere. She was 4lbs8oz at 36w2d so definitely not a big baby!

@amc try a doorway pec stretch before bed to help with the numbness. I get that too, and stretching decreases it a bit. strawberrykiki sorry lady CharlieB we have to make the transition too! I wanted to do it in September but we can’t seem to get out of our own way

k Thanks! And yep, he’s in a crib. He sleeps with about 6 blankets and 10 stuffed animals around him, so maybe the guardrails on the bed and his pile of stuff will make it seem so crib-like that it’s an easy switch. Maybe. He’s quite the willful little thing. ETA I’m so sorry about the rash!! That is the worst! TashaLa Good luck to you when you guys make the switch!

I'm sorry strawberrykiki and tngrl3. tngrl3 I know it's your second rodeo but no fun. They made me test at 12 weeks for #2 and #3 (this one) so I've been boosting the egg industry for a while now! strawberrykiki you got this. Like tngrl3 said, it truly isn't your fault in any way, nor is the way you manage it. You'll figure it out and they give you a little grace period to work with how your body responds, i.e. what kind of snack you need at night and how it impacts your morning fast, etc. Re: your delivery question, there are a lot of factors they'll assess with you. FWIW, I was fully prepared to go early and be induced/c-section because of what I had read about GD, but I ended up overdue with both boys. DS1 was induced at 40+6 and DS2 I dodged a scheduled induction by a few hours and he was 40+4. Toward the end, they do routine growth measurements, assess the placenta for calcification (which indicates break-down, that can happen faster with GD) and measure the amount of amniotic fluid - all factors that go into whether they induce you early or not (among other factors perhaps, those were the major ones for me). I did non-stress tests regularly as well for each one at the end. I was able to be diet controlled and while my boys were rather big (8 lbs 1 oz, 9 lbs 13 oz), my placenta held up really well and amniotic fluid was ok. I also advocated hard for myself to try to avoid induction and a c-section and go as long as I could, but that was my personal preference. I was offered c-sections last time and already this time, they're so casual about it now! I had no issues with them going along with what I wanted, but my body was also pretty responsive to the diet and things were looking good. So it just depends, it's good to prepare for all options - even being overdue, that was one I hadn't prepared for the first time! The diet is a hard adjustment at first, but I promise it gets easier once you start to know the carb quantities and what to buy to make eating easier for you. It can get boring, I don't have a lot of time to put into switching it up so we do a lot of meat/veggie/carb dinners, I eat a million eggs, greek yogurt etc. But it is not that long to have to do it and a bonus is that you don't gain as much weight! On that note, too, don't be scared if your weight plateaus/drops a bit as you start the diet. I always lose several pounds when I start it and it is normal and fine. Last - hugs. Sorry you have to deal with this!
