My mom and grandma drove in tonight to watch the girls tomorrow for H and I. He has an early b-ball game and I have a competition for the robotics team I coach. We think H will be done early enough that we might be able to catch a date night movie. Any good recommendations? I’m leaving towards the Crimes of Grindelwald.

I hope all the sick kiddos doing much better. danvers that's so cool about your robotics team! Tell us more. curmudgeon what time does baby wake up in the morning? would it be possible to let him nap later in the afternoon? even an hour later would help you out. Lil fella naps from about 3ish to 4ish and we start bedtime at 8 and he's sleeping by 830ish. He's basically up for about 4 hours between naps during the day. It helps us to have him and DS have the same schedule and we all eat at the same time. He only has 4 front teeth so not much chewing going on here. I make him rice congee with vegetables and sometimes lentils and he eats finely cut protein which we eat. Basically he eats about half a cup of congee + animal protein and a slice or 2 of fruit. I estimate about 3/4 cup total?? No snacks - there's just no time between naps and meals. He's not big and about 20%. Also I think they tend to drop their baby fat when they start moving but I understand your concern. I've never given him a pouch. I should probably try soon as it would be so convenient when we travel over the holidays. CoachTsWife Yaasss! so happy for you and your H. So awesome to have something to look forward to. Surprise expenses especially this time of year stinks. Bummer about the appliances going on a fritz but at least it doesn't need replacing. We had that happen a couple of years ago and luckily we managed to get the fridge repaired and it only cost us a little over $300 with parts and a rental fridge ( hubs is the handyman ) which was so much better than min.$1300 for a new fridge. Hoping it will hold up for another couple years more at least.

Question for our Canadian mamas, so when do you all consider it appropriate to start decorating for Christmas since your Thanksgiving is in October? There's obvisouly no rules but typically I think most people here begin right after TG. I've been busy this week pulling out some Christmas decor and am excited to finally be able to use this metal tree I had gotten last year to put up a bunch of ornaments ILs had given us which are heavy porcelain and we've never been able to put it on the tree due to the weight. Hoping to start putting some decor up this weekend and we're getting our tree tomorrow morning. It will be DS' first time picking a tree and he's terribly excited. I imagine he'll be awake extra early tomorrow. On not such good news end, my cousin called a couple of days ago to let us know my aunt passed. She was one of my favorite aunts and dear to me. I am glad the last time I went home, I made it a point to visit and stay several days with her and that hubs got to meet her. He thought she was a hoot and loved her and I am happy we have that one last memory with her. The last few years I've spent more time than I liked figuring out how to get funeral flowers sent from here. Such is life.

duskymonkey he wakes around 7/730. So he could sleep 5:30-7:30 with no wake ups. He doesn’t nap at daycare. Maybe a 30 min nap but that’s it. I wish he would nap more. On the rare days he takes a 2hour nap there, that’s when I’m able to keep him up to feed dinner. He should be moving up to the 1yr old class (again) so I’m hoping that helps. They have a scheduled nap time for all the kids, so lights are dimmed, music plays, etc. Where he is now is still a free for all since it’s infants and they’re all on different schedules.

duskymonkey So sorry for your loss. It is so hard to be on the other side of the world when something like this happens. Hugs.

duskymonkey I’m sorry for your loss. It’s hard being so far from family. It’s nice you have those memories from your last visit. Rough to transition to Christmas talk but there’s no real rules about when to decorate except I think most people agree it’s after Remembrance Day which is November 11th. We put our tree up last weekend mostly because I work this weekend and next. In the past we’ve waited until the first weekend of December, this is the earliest I’ve decorated. The wreath and some floral decor has been up for 2 weeks because it’s been so dreary I need a bit of sparkle.

IT'S DECEMBER!
H was looking at photos off of his trail camera earlier and was like, "oh, the dates are wrong, must have reset when I changed the batteries. These all say 12/1/18." I was like...... yea.... 😂
He really didn't realize it was December lol.

For food, DS2 eats just whatever we're eating, or whatever is easy. Like if DS1 and I are having cereal in the morning, I'll just fry DS2 up an egg real quick. Or PB toast is a favorite. He's a pig though so I don't worry about it much. He's a milk hound too and will easily drink a whole sippy (like, 6 or 8 oz I guess?) of whole milk in one sitting. We limit his milk a little because he eats a lot of cheese and yogurt too.
We're at 6 teeth now too! His top two came in, then one bottom front, and another top on the side, now the other bottom and other top side are in. The rest of his gums look crazy lumpy so I'm thinking more will cut through soon. In other teeth news, all four of DS1's 6 year old molars finally cut through (who knew they get more??!!) so while they haven't been TOO bad, I can tell he's slightly more comfortable.
Hoping we can get our tree tomorrow. It was supposed to rain aaaallll day today so we just stayed in pjs but then it didn't start until like after lunch. I wish I woulda been more up-and-at-em this morning so we coulda gone today! Cuz now it's going to rain off and on tomorrow 🙄

I thought 6 was when they start losing their milk teeth...Huh I suppose that's accurate then when those back molars come in and later wisdom teeth?

That's rough. Poor little man. Seems like he's making up for it at night. So how does that work for all the other babies if they are all over the place? I thought DC was really good about getting them on schedules at a certain age. The very littles is hard of course. Do you think for his snacks that he could get a smaller portion of actual meals?

We had a pretty good day today until we got our tree and stuck it in the stand and water leaked all over Fortunately for some reason I adamantly insisted we put a waterproof mat down which we never did before and it caught a good amount of the water - 2 gallons of it! So we had to run out to get an emergency tree stand. All was good in the evening then and I made a post thanksgiving dinner - turkey pot pie and a pumpkin cream cheese brownie ( had about 1 cup of pumpkin puree left ). I just finished putting up my metal tree with those heavy ornaments ILs bequeath to us. It's totally NMS. The ornaments are a lot bigger than I thought and the tree smaller than I thought. I thought it would fill this alcove ( which I hate BTW and is going to get demoed at some point ) I wish I had some large leather bound books to add more height. There's also another dozen more which cannot fit. Also I should take the tags off them and vary the height at some point...probably not thought.

duskymonkey we also had to run around for a last minute tree stand. Ours was missing something on the end of the screws that’s stabilize the tree so they just dug into the trunk and it kept falling. I had to hold it upright while H went to the store. Those ornaments are interesting. Do they gift them to you every year?

Lol yea I had no idea either but at his check up in the spring the dentist was like, "no molars coming through yet!" While I was ::screach:: hold up, what??!! And yea, she said there are four 6 year old ones. So since the spring to now three have cut through, we're just waiting on one more. They haven't been painful per se, but he was chewing on everything for a while (shirt, etc and I actually bought him one of those silicone chew necklaces). He was a late teether in general though so I'm not surprised it's a little late; he just has his first loose tooth now at 6.5 🤷♀️ NOW YOU ALL KNOW!!! 😂😂😂

I'm sorry, this sucks, but the image of you having to stand there with a decorated tree has me chuckling. Ours fell twice last year actually (fortunately toward the fall so not completely over) so I somewhat understand. We are getting a smaller tree this year to hopefully avoid the same issue.
