I broke 2 expensive ornaments this morning. One we’ve had for 10 years.

I stayed home from church with the kids this morning so we watched the livestream in our pajamas. I’m going to try taking our Christmas card picture shortly so I can order cards to give me time to address them and get them sent out. Hopefully the kids cooperate and don’t look too sickly 😬 I am doing “‘‘twas the night before Christmas” milk and cookies theme this year... on a white fluffy blanket on our bed, twinkly lights, matching Jammie’s and a tray with Christmas cookies and milk in fancy cups. I usually wash sheets Sunday or Monday so I figured I should do the pictures before I put clean sheets on...

Pictures turned out super adorable but it has been a day of crap naps and absolute whiny misery from both kids. There is not enough coffee. And I used the last of the bailey’s last night 😭

Santa pics done! The baby started to cry in the beginning but stopped and just looked super confused. No smiles from him but at least no tears!

Flame Free Sunday Confession - sometimes I go hide in my classroom on Sunday afternoons while H watches the kids. I listen to music or podcasts, putz around, maybe organize a few things, plan... but mostly enjoy a handful of childfree hours. There’s no one else there but me and it’s so quiet (and for the duration of the weekend usually clean and organized too).

We put the Christmas tree up today and spent some one on one time with DD1 since she’s been super clingy lately. I got a ton of shopping done the past few days including leaving work early Friday to brave the mall.
Life has been busy and exhausting, I’m looking forward to my day off tomorrow, sending the kids to daycare and getting my house back in order.

Hanging out in a bubble bath with sleepy time tea and catching up on Greg’s anatomy. Kids were in bed early and I think I will follow suit. I really hope DD is up for preschool tomorrow because I don’t think I can do another whole day cooped up with those two sickies without losing my mind. She was doing much better today so the odds are in my favour I think! DS is a day or two behind her in the symptoms and was a snot faucet today and took short crappy naps so I’m just really hoping he sleeps tonight

I really hope DD is up for preschool tomorrow because I don’t think I can do another whole day cooped up with those two sickies without losing my mind. Normal start to the week here. DS1 is off to school, and we told him we will decorate the tree tonight if he has a good day. He’s looking forward to getting in the Christmas spirit, I can tell!
Next week, DH’s parents come out for their first visit ever. Very exciting. Hope it all goes well - they are only staying a week, so I’m sure it will go by in a flash. They are bringing a ton of stuff from the USA that we’ve shipped to their home in their bags, which is also exciting 😁

cythe hope E made up for it and gave you a nice long afternoon nap! It's rough when they refuse naps. All the sick kiddos, hopefully they're sleeping better tonight. curmudgeon - pecans! I make these sweet and spicy pecans which are yummy snacks and great on salads. I used to make them as gifts for the holidays. I haven't in a long while - hubs isn't a fan of nuts but your post on pecans reminded me of that. Add pecans in your granola if you make them. Soooo many things to do with pecans! Taitai I am excited for you and your ILs visit. Are they visiting elsewhere in the region? 1 week seems like such a short time for a long way. Just the jet lag alone ugh... hope they will make the most of their 1 week. BTW I forgot to mention Nordic ware bundt pans are great and I have an absolutely fabulous lemon bundt cake recipe if you like. Dang! now I want to go make one.

We had another lazy day today. We watched the Polar express which is DS' favorite and the only show besides Cars and Winne the Pooh in which he would actually sit quietly and watch. It snowed and the wind howled last night too. Lil fella's sniffles is subsiding and slept better last night. He also called out hubs ( daidai ) DS (khokho - big bro nickname) when prompted! It was pretty awesome. Also literally everything is Mama. Want's something - mama. Points to something - mama. Taking apart duplo trucks, mama. asking to put them back together, mama. Want's milk, mama. Wants to be picked up, mama.
Well there is no longer anymore TG leftovers left! Just the turkey carcass which is in the freezer awaiting to be made into soup. I picked over the remainder of the turkey and made turkey pot pie filling. I figured everyone was tired of turkey so i'll make the pot pie in a few weeks. The next weeks leading up to christmas is going to be crazy. Thinking of all that needs to be done is making me hyperventilate.

duskymonkey Hahaha - I bet you’re right about Greg’s Anatomy 🤣😂🤣. Yeah, a week is too short for a visit, but that’s all they wanted to do, so 🤷♀️🤷♀️. At least we’re getting them out here FINALLY. We’ve lived in Asia for soooo long, it’s kind of crazy this is their first trip to see us. They’re really well traveled too, so it’s not like they are afraid of flying long distances or anything. MIL hates hot weather, so I think that is a big part of it. Either way, should be fun for the kids to have Grandma and Grandpa our here 😊 Lemon bundt cake also sounds awesome. 😋

I'm legit dying at Greg's Anatomy.
E had a good second nap yesterday, which *almost* made up for the one nap day. She was up at 6:30 this morning so I'm guessing we will be back to 2 naps today (I had to wake her at 7:15 yesterday am).
Its foggy as hell here today so E and I will be heading out to the post office this afternoon.

I woke up with a pounding headache and extremely stuffed up. I have a sore throat and a bit of a cough too 😳 DD is doing much better, DS is still snotty but is otherwise happy. I hate how sickness just rolls through the family and once one person gets sick it’s just a matter of time. I need everyone to be healthy by Friday. My mom is babysitting Friday and because of her liver transplant we have to be extra careful

It was a day of highs and lows over here
High: E waved goodbye to her toy as she shoved it off the sofa today
Low: E decided sucking all the water out of her sippy cup and then opening her mouth and letting it all waterfall out was THE BEST. This continued through dinner.

Why will my baby not sleeeep. I get that he’s sick but yesterday he napped for a totally of 70 minutes and he woke up at 5:30 this morning 😭 I need him to get back on track, mama is tired!!

We had a pretty big snow storm (blizzard conditions) Sunday. All the schools were cancelled yesterday, and some are again today. They didn't want anyone on the roads yesterday so I worked from home. We got the kids dressed to go play in the snow and DS1 had a blast. LO, though, not so much. He's really only worn soft sole shoes and is NOT A FAN of his boots. Or his snow bibs. He just sat down and cried, so he and I weren't outside very long.
Our dishwasher is on the fritz so we've been hand washing all of our dishes. We're trying to get a guy out to look at it today since DH is home from school again. FX it is fixed when I get home!

CoachTsWife DS was like that with his boots at first too and now he loves them. Like wants to carry them around all day and constantly wants us to put them on loves them. I caught him In the mud room opening show cubbies to try to find them just this morning lol. So there is hope!

DS is up 30 minutes into his morning nap again. FML. This is now 5/6 days, 4 days in a row. Is this sickness or him starting to be ready for 1 nap? I mean honestly I love the one long mid day nap but I just don’t think he can make it that long. He was exhausted this morning, went down easily but woke up after half an hour again. It is so frustrating because it’s this vicious cycle of bad naps mean bad night sleep mean bad naps and I just cannot get him out of it. I am slowly losing my mind

cythe, everytime M starts to let the water or juice or milk fall out of her mouth i take it away. She's just playing with it at that point. Half the time she doesn't mind. CoachTsWife, hope the dishwasher has an easy fix! that stinks. doodlemommy, i think we were all sick last week. i hope it is short lived in your house!

While the dishwasher was running for the repairman (it starts sounding weird mid-way through the cycle), DH asked him out the squeaking noise our fridge has been making. Turns out a part needed to be replaced on the fridge. And the dishwasher needed a valve replaced. Could've been worse, but unexpected bills in December stink.

codex320 well, my DH just came home sick from work 😳 He apparently feels like he is freezing and is shaking and nauseous. I sincerely hope he does not have the flu 😷DS is due for his second dose of the flu shot but is too sick this week to get it so fingers crossed that first dose is enough to keep him covered in the interim! My mom is supposed to babysit Friday and because of her liver transplant we have to be extra careful. Of course my day Friday would be a nightmare to reschedule so I hope my kids are healthy by then

doodlemommy, AH! that is the worst. i hope all the sickness goes away. but if he thinks he has it, tell him to go to minute clinic or urgent care! they will test for the flu. Fingers crossed everything works out!
