doodlemommy , Taitai , can I come over for TG dinner! Your menus sounds so yummy. codex320 the turkey meatball recipe looks delicious. I have to give it a try it at another time and your brussels sprouts dish sounds really good too I love pancetta! Taitai maybe I am totally OCD but the unless the oven interior gets completely covered in foil there's no way around the chicken spitting and hissing and spewing in the oven but man does the skin get nice and crispy yummm! The cake recipe is this www.finecooking.com/recipe/brown-butter-pumpkin-layer-cake I actually might make it in lieu of a 2nd pumpkin pie. 1 isn't enough for us. Hubs can easily eat a whole pie by himself and now that DS' appetite is a wee bit more plus he loves dessert like his mommy Recipe looks pretty easy. My usual menu is: Dry brine roasted Turkey Yukon gold mash potatoes sadly without parsnips - hubs is dead set on good ol potatoes only Stuffing - I used to make a chorizo poblano cornbread stuffing pre kids but it's too spicy for them so just a simple herbed stuffing now Brussels Sprouts with wild mushrooms Cranberry orange relish Beets, Orange and fennel salad Pumpkin Pie Pumpkin Chocolate Cheesecake Maybe Brown Butter Pumpkin Cake I am going to be busy next week. As much as I love the main and sides, I love making the desserts more Oooh - that menu sounds awesome. I emailed myself that pumpkin cake recipe- the reviews say using canned pumpkin works just as well, so I might go that route if I make it. I also love Brussels sprouts - it is do hard to get good ones out here. Sigh. doodlemommy Sorry about CD1 arriving. 40 day cycles are no fun. ☹️ curmudgeon Cold weather sounds awesome to me! I miss celebrating the holidays when it’s cold and snowy. Christmas when I lived in Chicago just seemed so much more festive!

Taitai I love cold weather for the holidays! Unfortunately it will be back at 70 for thanksgiving and probably 80 at Christmas. We are just having a fluke week of freezing temps. No one was prepared for it this early.

cythe +1 to Sandra boynton and a current fave is That’s Not My Snowman. Also the “Where is Baby’s...” pumpkin/Christmas present/belly button etc books. Although it’s a battle between reading and eating the books.

I’m getting there. Hahaha Depending on how dressy you need, I LOVE the ON pixie ankle pants with booties! I work with preschoolers so jeans are everyday work wear for me but the pixies are a step above without being too dressy

Also, I cannot recommend the Tom’s desert wedges highly enough. They are seriously so comfortable, I can wear them all day while running after kids (my own or at work). I have them in black currently but am eyeing a second pair

I just got into them like 2 months ago and I now have three colours 😬 The olive ones are LOVE for me. I also have mustard and pink. They have a really nice navy that looks like a dress pant unless you are close! I have the chinos but there is a dressier material too, I think the fit is the same!

Hello all, work is keeping me way too busy to keep up here except for my days off, which I’m now on. I can’t wait to send the kids to daycare, then do errands, meal plan and nap tomorrow. Work days I get 0 free time to myself except if there’s any downtime at work but that doesn’t really count. Baby is now giving high fives and waving too. It’s too cute!

doodlemommy the first ones I saw were black velvet and I’m thinking maybe I do need velvet pants I like really thin black cords - like the corduroy lines are super thin. They kind of give off a velvet vibe, but they’re much easier to care for and imo more versatile to wear (dress up or down). Of course I can never wear mine out here, because it’s so friggin hot all the time. Maybe I’ll bring them along on our Dec ski trip to Japan though...🤔

Ice storm cane through last night - all local schools are running on a delayed start schedule - woo whooo! I love late start days as it goes fast.
DD2 decided to wake up just as I was making myself a nice quiet breakfast so she’s nursing and snuggling. She is such a morning cuddler (and this is why I haven’t had a real breakfast in weeks!).
My dad is bringing his mom down on Saturday so I need to finish picking up the house for their quick visit. Everything is pretty good except the sunroom/playroom which resembles a tornado zone.

We are expecting 6-12 inches of snow overnight and just now as I got into bed I remembered that our snow shovel is in the outdoor shed.
Shit.

Taitai totally use can pumpkins! I made can and fresh pies last year and hubs said the difference was subtle so I am sticking to can from here on out. Sorreh pumpkins! I haven't really read the reviews of the recipe until i saw your post tonight but I've been wanting to make it for a few years now since I saw it and I think this year I'll have the time however my hips are going to hate me. Also I am thinking of chopping the nuts up...I am unsure about the large pieces of pecans and I am actually leaning on omitting the pepitas or subbing it with almonds? I should prob just make the recipe in it's original form first then mess around with it but I can't help myself!

Lil fella's current fav toy, my contact lens case. Luckily I only have eleventy billion of them. Anyways, a couple of days ago, I dropped off several items to be consigned at the local kids resale and decided to run through the sale to see if there were any bargains to be had, I typically look for trains for DS. Anyways there weren't any trains worth getting, however I saw this plush playset that I saw on amazon which I was thinking of getting for lil fella for Christmas. So I am super excited cos it was only $5!! I threw it in the wash and forgot about it until tonight. Other than the bird which was loved a little more extra, the rest is in great condition so I am super stoked plus it is a lot bigger than I thought. #usedtoysnoshame I think toys deserve to be loved and played with new or old

We all buy and sell on the expat exchanges, because the customs/duties triples the price of imported children’s stuff in country. I figure it’s better for the environment too! On that cake recipe, DH and I were also planning to chop up the pecans. I don’t like whole pecans in my desserts- I think the texture is much better chopped! I’ve also never made those things that start with p, so I might skip it. We are going to make it next week- will let you know how it turns out!

So yesterdays weather was a mess. daycare opened late, closed early. i was able to work from home for a few hours. M gave me the HARDEST time with her diaper change yesterday. i thought we were going to have to go without a diaper for the rest of the day. luckily i got one back on her.
on a positive note, she went to daycare this morning and reached out to her fave teacher! no tears!! i hope it sticks. Also we will be done with her meds by monday.
