My baby decided to be really difficult to put down for naps and bedtime the past few days. I think he’s teething again.
We’re figuring out our Thanksgiving menu this week, and I’m most excited about making the desserts. We also did a little thanksgiving craft this weekend where DH, DS1, LO, and I traced our hands on several colors or paper and then cut them out to make hand-print turkeys. I obviously did LO’s, but they turned out really cute! Definitely getting excited for next week.

Happy Monday! I printed off all my recipes for thanksgiving last week. I'm mostly excited about the "thanksgiving" meatballs in lieu of actual turkey. It will probably be just us at the house so i'm making things we all like! I should find a good pie recipe...
We started watching the new Sabrina show last night. the first episode was almost an hour and i fell asleep maybe 45 minutes into it. We started it too late i think. So far it's pretty interesting. i could get into it.

Good morning guys
E had her EI evaluation today and it went well. They did a full evaluation looking at: Physical, Communication, Cognitive, Social and Adaptive Development. Basically she scored average range for all areas except physical development, which is divided into gross and fine motor. E has always been leaps and bounds above in the fine motor so that score brought up her average, meaning overall she scored on the lower end of average for physical development - but it's still average.
The ladies said she would have needed to score in the 35% of a category which she handily did not. So, tl;dr is that she doesn't qualify for early intervention programs.
The PT lady did give me lots of advice and will be emailing some exercises to help get her moving. Both ladies said it's a case of she doesn't WANT to do things. They reassured me she is a very intelligent girl and also very willful lol. Sounds like teenage Evelyn will be a blast.

Gave in and bought a pregnancy test today. It wasn’t fmu but it was a stark white BFN. So I guess AF is just being a jerk and will probably show up when I’m stuck on an airplane or something 🙄 I’m happy because we weren’t trying and DH’s anxiety would probably not have done well with a surprise bfp. But...a part of me was kinda hoping it would be positive 😬 We had 2 losses and it took a year to get DS, so eliminating all that stress and heartache would have been awesome.

Glad it went well cythe. Good to hear it was helpful in that you got some advice and exercises to help her. I understand those conflicted feelings doodlemommy. Hugs.

I'm sorry doodlemommy, I get where you're at. We are NTNP because in reality we will need our embryo transfer to have a shot at #2, but yeah it still hurts every time CD 1 rolls around. Which should be tomorrow, wheee

I've taught E to reach into the container and grab a single cheddar lil' crunchie. It took a while, she was apprehensive about sticking her hand into the container but eventually she emerged with a singular puff.
When applied to the bag of goldfish, the same does not happen. 7 goldfish get shoved into her mouth at once.

cythe glad to hear E is just super stubborn - shes going to be a fun teenager for sure! 😉 Taitai I think I remember you saying turkey is hard to get out there (or maybe it was ham?!) last year. Do you do a mix of Thai and American food or something else? codex320 every night after putting DD1 to bed I can barely keep my eyes open to watch our shows we’ve got on DVR, let alone new ones. For some reason I’m a zombie come 8:30 right now! doodlemommy wonky cycles are the worst while BF. 🙁

Long Monday here. DD2 started in her new classroom and had a fantastic day! Everyone acted so surprised by how well she transitioned but she is so much more chill than DD1 about this kind of stuff so I’m not surprised in the least. Apparently daycare worked their magic and she napped 2hrs on a cot without getting off. 🤷♀️
Now the girls are just running around DD1s room post bath (and sans clothes) while I surf HiH.

cythe That’s great news about EI, and I suspected it would go that way. E sounds a lot like DS1 - he was just plain lazy and if he didn’t want to do something (like crawl or walk), he didn’t. But he could pick up a grain of rice at 12 months without issue. He now runs all over the place and we can’t get him to sit still. I’m sure it will be the same for E. And yes, I’m also dreading the teenage years. doodlemommy Big hugs - I totally understand your feelings. I know we’re done at 2, but if I was in a similar situation, I would have been bummed out by a BFN. Big hugs again. danvers Yes - we still can’t get any decent turkeys over here! They ban the import of raw turkeys, and the imported per-cooked ones suck...they taste like deli meat! The local turkeys are scrawny and boney and fatty and not delicious. We’re going to roast two chickens this year using duskymonkey ‘s suggestion for the Thomas Keller method. It worked well last year, so we’re doing it again! Also - your story reminded me that DS1 was running around in the buff before his bath last night, saying “I’m a peach crayon!” (Like the peach crayon in the book The Day The Crayons Quit who looses his wrapper). Kids 🤣

Taitai too cute. I read that book to my students when we talk about persuasive writing and try to convince the crayons to come back to our classroom. There’s a sequel to it but I like the first better. DD1 finally started enjoying longer books so I feel like we have real plots at time, DD2’s goals are to flip the pages as fast as she possibly can and then start over again.

cythe this is such great news. I too had a feeling from what you've shared about E that she is fine...stubborn but fine. 😉 Hopefully you'll get her moving with some suggestions from the PT. I have a friend whose daughter just plain refused to talk until she's was about 3! After that she wouldn't STFU. Kids are perplexing. doodlemommy, I totally missed this. Big hugs that your cycle is making you wonder. Speaking of test, I found 1 test stick and half a box of OPK at the back of my bathroom drawer. I should just toss them out. We're NTNP which was how lil fella surprised us. Considering how the pregnancy evolved we are definitely done although secretly hubs and I wouldn't mind a surprise but I suspect I'll be looking at menopause in the eye soon. danvers, am I reading this right that the girls are "running" around? Have I been offline so long I missed a bunch of happenings?

We have the sequel too - The Day the Crayons Came Back or something like that? There is a part about a crayon getting puked up by the dog that DS1 looooves. He looses it and laughs so hard every time we get to that part. No surprise - boys love gross stuff 🤣

Ahhh... I cannot believe thanksgiving is next week too! Need to order my turkey yet! codex320 your meatball sounds intriguing, is it a special recipe? tell us! What sort of pie are we talking about here? Every year I want to make a different dessert but everyone wants to have the usual; pumpkin pie and pumpkin chocolate cheesecake. The thanksgiving before last I made an additional cherry pie at the request of DS. we didn't eat them all, I usually give them out to neighbors but still there's only so much dessert we can eat. There's this brown butter pumpkin layer cake I've been dying to make so I might just bite the bullet and make it. Taitai what are you making? I'm also so glad you like the TK method of roasting chicken. It so so easy and so so good. The oven cleaning is a bitch but the crispy crackling skin is so worth it.

We put tin foil down to catch the drippings when we do the TK recipe, so less clean up! This is our TG menu. I’m soooo excited!!! 2 TK roasted chickens Grilled fish Apple sausage stuffing Sweet mashed potatoes Russet mashed potatoes Cornbread and honey butter Green bean casserole with the crispy onions on top Cranberry orange rind relish (very fresh and delicious) Hawaiian rolls Pumpkin pie Apple pie Cheesecake chocolate chip pecan ball, which we decorate to look like a turkey and then serve with teddy grahams for scooping/dipping What’s on your menu? Those desserts you are making sound amazing! What is the brown butter pumpkin layer cake like? That sounds right up my alley!!

duskymonkey, the meatballs are a williams sonoma recipe. i made them last year and they were delicious! www.williams-sonoma.com/recipe/thanksgiving-meatballs-with-gravy.html?print=true Our menu so far is: thanksgiving meatballs brussel sprouts with pancetta and radicchio Alton Brown's green bean casserole - i've made this at least 3 times now. soo good. crispy smashed potatoes (ree drummond) mashed potatoes with herb infused cream and chives will attempt to make parker house rolls as well. as for pies - i love them all. i found a bourbon pumpkin pie with nutmeg tuiles recipe from william sonoma. i actually found it last year but didn't get a chance to bake it. so i may try that.

I rarely have to plan full holiday meals. We're always at one parent's or the other so we just contribute a side and/or dessert.
LO has learned to wave bye. His floopy arm bye-bye wave is the best. When he waves with both arms...? I die.

To the mommas that take their babies to daycare - has your LO had any separation anxiety? M loved going to daycare. she rarely cried or reached back out to me after she went to the teachers there. Lately she's been crying every morning. i feel bad but i know it only lasts maybe a couple minutes. I guess i'm just waiting for the morning where she goes willingly to them again.

I leave for Boston tomorrow morning and my to do list is a mile long. So of course, last night the generator in the construction site behind use started back firing. Every 5 minutes MINIMUM from 12:40-2:30 am 😭The cops came as it sounds like gunshots. Eventually the generator died I guess. And then I ran out to pick up my grocery order this morning before DH left for work. Come home and he had put DS down for a nap an hour early. Perfect because we are going out tonight (planned long before Boston) to the dinner theatre and I need to get DS down a bit early. Yeah. He napped for 20 minutes. It is now an hour later, 30 minutes past normal nap time and I am trying again.

Lately she's been crying every morning. i feel bad but i know it only lasts maybe a couple minutes. I guess i'm just waiting for the morning where she goes willingly to them again. LO has separation anxiety, but not at daycare. If I grab my purse, coat, and head towards the door, he realizes I'm leaving without him and he starts crying. He is also not a fan of being dropped off at the nursery at church. Luckily, he hasn't had any issues at daycare (yet). He's much more of a momma's boy than DS1 was.
It is a completely normal phase and it will pass, but I know how hard it is. We go to an in-home daycare, and I just set LO down and he goes to find his favorites toys usually. Instead of handing M to a teacher, can you get her interested in play, then slip out?
ETA: eventually she will ask you to leave. Today, DS1 kept telling me, "Mom, can you leave so we can do a puppet show?" Apparently he had grand plans of doing a puppet show with his friends and I was not invited.

I know he stops as soon as I walk away and his focus is on to the next thing.

doodlemommy , Taitai , can I come over for TG dinner! Your menus sounds so yummy. codex320 the turkey meatball recipe looks delicious. I have to give it a try it at another time and your brussels sprouts dish sounds really good too I love pancetta! Taitai maybe I am totally OCD but the unless the oven interior gets completely covered in foil there's no way around the chicken spitting and hissing and spewing in the oven but man does the skin get nice and crispy yummm! The cake recipe is this www.finecooking.com/recipe/brown-butter-pumpkin-layer-cake I actually might make it in lieu of a 2nd pumpkin pie. 1 isn't enough for us. Hubs can easily eat a whole pie by himself and now that DS' appetite is a wee bit more plus he loves dessert like his mommy Recipe looks pretty easy. My usual menu is: Dry brine roasted Turkey Yukon gold mash potatoes sadly without parsnips - hubs is dead set on good ol potatoes only Stuffing - I used to make a chorizo poblano cornbread stuffing pre kids but it's too spicy for them so just a simple herbed stuffing now Brussels Sprouts with wild mushrooms Cranberry orange relish Beets, Orange and fennel salad Pumpkin Pie Pumpkin Chocolate Cheesecake Maybe Brown Butter Pumpkin Cake I am going to be busy next week. As much as I love the main and sides, I love making the desserts more
