Yes! Boy names have been tough for us.
For a girl, we are 95% set on Leila Rose. Other options include Beatrice Rose or Penelope Rose. MN is after my grandma.
For a boy, we both love Henry but it’s my cousin’s son’s name so we don’t know if we would actually use it or not. Other top contenders are Theodore and Elliott. MN would be Joseph after SO’s late grandfather.

We have a list that we made when pregnant with the boys. Currently the only real contender for a boy’s name is Logan (mn James or Caleb). We have several for a girl though. Evelyn Jane, Hailey Lydia, Eleni Rose (and Eleni is not a special snowflake name, it’s a popular form of Helen in Greece lol). Rebecca Anne, Zoe Gabrielle, Lily Addison... yeah we have a ton of girl names. We already used our favorite boys names 😬

I have my lists started! I really love old timey names. DD is Eleanor and DS is Sawyer.
On my girl list is: Gwendolyn (top contender) Alice Amelia Winnifred Ruby Ruth Irene Hazel Clementine (DH veto’s but...)
On my boy list is: Maxwell (top contender) Oliver Oscar Orville Neal Lincoln (prob too popular for my taste)
DH is dead set on using Norma for a girl and it is... not my style. It is his grandmothers name so I will likely have to concede but I will put up a fight!

I agree that boy names are tough for us. I have names that I love but I already know that SO is set on a name we will be using regardless of whether it's a girl or boy. I actually like the name and it's a family name as well. DD is named after FIL (feminine version of his name) and her middle name is my grandmother's name. Her whole name is very Eastern European...as is her last name. So I want the next one to match with that.
The next one will likely be named after SO's uncle. It's just the middle name we'll have to decide on.

+1 for boy names are tough. We were team green with DD2 and she would have been Callum Ezra if she were a boy. I am not sure if we will recycle that name or not.
After 3 girls I feel all tapped out on girl names, too 😂 we have Adeline Rose, Corinne Melody, and Josephine Faith. *might poof these later, pdq*

SO pretty much confirmed that we have our first name set. Of course we thought we had DD's name set and then we didn't end up naming her until a month after she was born. I'm ok with his name choice but I'm still going to suggest other ones once we find out whether it's a girl or boy.

So apparently DD is convinced that she gets to name the new baby. She keeps coming up with names for "if the baby is a girl". This morning the name was Lindsey. Yesterday it was Sarah.

DD would name the baby Seashell. So she is not getting a vote. Her other option is Rosie though...so we might be able to find some sort of derivitive of this that works as a middle name. It might help in letting her feel more involved when she finally realizes what is happening and gets super angry:/

DS loves Super Mario and wants to name the baby Mario if it's a boy or Rosalina (from Super Mario Galaxy) if it's a girl. We will be using Rose as a middle name for a girl, so hopefully that is close enough for him, lol.

Reviving this thread to vent about names. sammysam: DH & I talked names the day we found out that I was pregnant, both times. So never too early in my world! I feel like we went through every name in existence to name DD. Today we were on various baby name sites and DH was like "I feel like we need to check out the largest baby name book from the library." Yes, we're better with books but I also am well-known to most of the library staff so I can't stealthily check it out. Maybe I should revive the lists from last time? They all sound so used since I went over and over them last time. We also never actually agreed on a boy's name. We left the hospital grateful that we had a girl. For this reason, DH thinks he may want to know the sex beforehand.

For this reason, DH thinks he may want to know the sex beforehand. I get what you’re saying re: names from last time. I don’t think I really like any that I liked last time, it’s kind of weird. I have a running list on my phone and every couple of days I look at it and take some off and add some on. We aren’t really the type to talk names until we know the sex, so nothing serious discussion wise in our house yet. I asked H to throw out a name and he said he likes Calvin nn Cal for a boy. I don’t hate it. Boy’s middle name would be Dennis (family name on my side) and girls middle name would likely be Annalise (combo of family names from his side) so we have that to work with (though girl mn isn’t as set as boy is). DD is Caroline. Here are my running lists as of today: Holland Maren Morgan Helena Eliza Elaina Layla Juliet Audrey Josslyn Autumn Dalia Felicity Sloane Kendall Calvin Miles Pierce Ellis Hunter Foster Forrest Sullivan Hudson Hayes Ronan Mason Nathaniel Grant Nolan Callan Leon Shepherd Clay Walker

Yes, we have a boy name and a girl name picked out. I'm not sure if I want to stay with the girl name though... It's my husband's pick. It's a video game character and when he was saying it it made me cringe.

beenthere : I think wincing is a pretty good reason to veto! @frank: We've been having this "fun" thing happen where we're like "Oh I love Cora, why did it we eliminate it... oh right our last name." Our last name makes anything ending in -ora sound like "row row your boat" or "rah rah rah" from Lady Gaga's Bad Romance.

We have the "ee" sound at the end of our last name so forever I was really against any names that end with that sounds, but now I'm just like meh if I love the name then I'll get over the sound.

@frank I love Calvin! That was our back up name for both boys. We ended up with McKinnon nn Mac and Hunter instead. If we had gone for a third and had a boy he would have been Calvin Leo.
Girl names are impossible. We had decided on Julia or Savannah had our first been a girl and Bridget had our second been a girl. I'm really glad we had boys, I like those names for other people, but not for us.

@frank I love some of the names on your list. We have Juliet and Autumn in our list as well. Our list for girls: Clara Lucy Alexandra Juliet Autumn
Boys: Alexander Samuel
Boy names are sooooo difficult. Even with my XH we struggled to name our son (reed). I also am really drawn to nature names but don’t feel like I can use too many because I have a Reed. Rose would for sure be on the list for a girl but with Reed I don’t think I can do it.

I think boy names are easier. I am 99% set on a boy name if we have another boy.
Girl names are harder for me. I have a short list for FN though. Isla - I’m worried I will always be correcting ppls proununciation Anna - my gf who is also pg said this is her girl name... Claire Lillian Amelia Lila
Middle names - I use family names.

Since we are thisclose to finding out the gender, I've been thinking about names today.
I'm not sure I still like the names that I said were my top contenders (Gwendolyn and Maxwell). I just don't know if they feel right/fit.
Gwendolyn would be Gwendolyn Alice or Gwendolyn Norma nn Gwen, Gwennie, or Winnie
Maxwell would be Maxwell Oliver or Maxwell Neal, nn Max
Today I seem to be stuck on nn Lena (LEE-na) for a girl but I can't find anything I like for a full name (will not do Helena!) or anything I like to use as a first/middle name with Lena. I also like Irene, Winnifred, Ruby and Ruth.
I've always liked Austin for a boy but I think it is too popular for my taste. DH veto-ed by ideas of Declan and Orville.
Sibs are Eleanor Carter-lynn and Sawyer Owen.

Does anyone’s kid have 2 middle names?
Since we know the gender, DH and I are discussing names. I think we have settled on a first name of Gwendolyn, nn Winnie. We cannot agree on a middle name. I want Alice; he wants Norma. Norma is his grandmothers name and she practically raised him but, I just don’t like the name. I have nothing against the person, and I don’t really care about naming the baby after someone but I just don’t like the name. His grandmothers middle name is too close to my real name for me (Katelyn/Katherine).
So, do we fight about this for the next 5 months or do we use both options as middle names?
tl;dr: Gwendolyn Alice Gwendolyn Norma Gwendolyn Alice Norma
