I brought a very responsible salad for lunch, but I think I'm taking myself out for a burrito bowl.

I will vote when I get out of work. I spent last night trying to convince my husband and brother both of whom have never voted and feel so defeated. I’m trying not to let it get to me but it feels so disheartening. Girl, MH didn’t even recycle when he met me. Now he composts, collects rainwater, and voted for his very first Democrat in this election. Don’t give up!!!

I see I have the same husband as other people. He votes now. Doesn't care for politics, but willingly takes the sample ballot I give him with my "advice" on who to vote for.

The parking lot was full, there were so many people at the polling place! I'm so scared to get my hopes up though. I dropped off my ballot and my H's because I want stickers.

I very carefully picked my outfit today. In 2016 I wore a new blouse for the first time that was red and I couldn’t bring myself to wear it every again.
DD1 filled in all of my boxes for me. She did a good job 👍👍 All of the polling employees seemed especially enthused to see kids today.

Completely anecdotal but my mom this morning, "Is anyone even running against Chris Murphy? I have seen and heard nothing." So hopefully this is how everyone in CT feels about this. The limited polling I have seen (and it is very limited) has Murphy way ahead. I mean I love him. He is easily one of my top picks for future presidential candidates. If CT effs this up I may have to move. It's like this re: my congressman, too. His opponents have covered very little ground. Do you live in my district now?

I almost got into an argument with a student today who said she never intends to vote because no one in her family has ever voted and she hates all politics and wants to throat punch all politicians. In college, when I was younger and dumber, I told my professor that i had to miss class because of a family vacation. She said, how will you vote (election day fell during vacation)? Do you have an absentee ballot? I didn't, so I thought on my feet and said snottily that I never vote because I hate politics and they're all the same, etc. My professor lectured me so hard that day. But she did it in a way that stuck with me. She asked me to think of one thing that is important to me and then look at the people running for office and see how they feel about it. Just one thing. She listed off examples, the environment, gay rights, women's rights. She challenged me to pick one thing and see if the candidates running were all the same. She also asked me to look up countries that have free elections and those that don't and see which one I wanted to live in. This was all very early internet so I didn't immediately take on this research project. But it stuck with me and over time I learned what she meant. dc2london make a note of this for your civic literacy project.

My H is voting for who I tell him to vote for. He kept getting texts and emails from his union on who they were endorsing and he'd turn to ask me if it was the right person. Eventually I'll get him to do his own research, but he does generally agree with my political opinion

H is yelling at the tv because the local news is talking about how long the lines are to vote. He’s like “don’t give anyone a reason not to vote dummies”

In our (very red) county, early voting stations are at libraries but on Election Day they are in churches. This makes me think of Bobby from Queer Eye being unable to walk into a church. I wonder how many people feel this way and don't vote bc of it. Exactly. It is such a huge conflict of interest.

My husbands parents live in tne 25th district in California. It’s where Katie hill is trying to unseat the rep there. The race is close there. I’m nervous.

Voting confession. Today was the first time I voted in a midterm election. I have only voted in 3 presidential elections. I'm 34, I don't want to be passive about it anymore.

It’s where Katie hill is trying to unseat the rep there. The race is close there. I’m nervous. I’m rooting hard for Katie Hill. I think vice did a documentary on the start of her campaign and man it was rough. She’s green and not a politician and it just shows it’s a tough game to get into. But dang it if she didn’t chug along and make it a close race. Very inspiring.

There's a woman in front of me that looks very pregnant. I'm willing to offer to hold her place in line if she has to pee. I mean it's a 45 minute wait. There's an older gentleman sitting in a chair while someone else holds his place in line. Someone else told him he could do curbside voting, but he'd rather use the machine.

I've been in line about 30 minutes. This is the first time I've seen the line out the door at my polling place. I've seen lots of young people here.

One of my coworkers just came back and said his wait was about 20 minutes. Which is a long time for here.
I'm really nervous

Hiii! Just took the baby and waited about an hour to cast my ballot. Seeing the line made me so happy (and glad I didn't bring my very impatient 3.5 year old -- next time!). Hoping to flip our district blue and grill some brats 😉

And her ads are actually pretty smart. Whosever her people are, I give them props. She’s pushing the my dad was in military and a lifelong republican. Her ads are very patriotic. The most recent one was specifically for millennials. I love her.
