courtniko, Happy thanksgiving to you too! I ended up not having to work today so we just had a relaxing day at home since we've already had my family thanksgiving. Honestly it was just what I needed. Trying to decide if I want to get up early in the morning and do some shopping!

Happy thanksgiving! We had dinner with my family yesterday, and today we see my ILs. We’re announcing to H’s extended family today!

I met my OB for the first time today. I was having some symptoms of a yeast infection so they asked me to come in to get checked out. She decided to do the full exam while I was there, but no u/s. She said to cancel the appt. that was in 2 weeks and come back in 4 weeks, but that she'd put in the order for the u/s and blood work for genetic testing since I'm an "elderly mom". Bummed that I might have to wait longer for another u/s, but am trying to believe that everything is just fine. I felt a bit unprepared today and didn't have my list of 100 questions with me.
On the plus side, she was very nice and while she'd like me to have a repeat C-section vs. a vbac, she did say that they offer the clear screens so that I can see more of what's happening. Poor DH will just have to have his back to it if he can't stomach it (he almost passed out last time when he walked by while I was still cut open).

bearfootzcontinued, Did you get any relief from your yeast infection? Ugh I know how had it is to wait for the next ultrasound but I hope it's not too bad of a wait for you!

I don't think I'm going to be able to do the genetic screen. I can't get clear answers from anyone on what it would cost me. And I'm scared I will end up owing thousands of dollars. FUCK our healthcare system in the ass, seriously.

lolacachia, I had to call the company directly, and they ran my insurance. They also had some options for lowering the cost if insurance did not cover it as well, as in the most we would have to pay would be $250. We did the MaterniT21 test, but I had to get the company info from my doctor.

Like my Dr is through the UofM healthcare system and he said he would have to send me for genetic counseling which would be $200. Then UofM gave me a billing code that I gave to insurance and was told it would be $529. But then my Dr told me to call Natera and ask them for cost. So the $529 is for what exactly??? For them to draw my blood and send it out?! So I could potentially be looking at, at least $1,000 out of pocket. And that makes me sick to my stomach.

They've never had any other patients want this test? I can't believe it would be that much for just a lab fee, on top of the test. The Natera people may have more answers for you, since they deal with it more often.

No, the doc swabbed it to see if it was bacterial. It wasn’t bothering me as much today. I woke up last night with a stomach bug - and. The OB nurse recommended that I go to the ER after twelve hours of vomiting and diarrhea so I could get IV fluids and zofran. So that was the excitement for the day.

If they tell me $529 then I'll feel a lot better about it and will know that number lines up lol. And then maybe I'll do if.

bearfootzcontinued, oh, the worst! I got one on Thanksgiving and it sucked. I hope things even out for you soon! As if being pregnant wasn't enough, nature's got to throw a bunch more at you.

Thanks everyone, back to work today and still feel wiped out but much better than I was. I forgot how many muscles you use when you're sick and my abs feel like they were doing Jillian Michaels workouts for a week.
The MFM office called yesterday and scheduled my genetic testing and ultrasound for Dec. 19th. So now I'll anxiously await that.
