Have a pestering sore throat so I avoided the gym yesterday. In lieu, I did full body toning exercises at home with MH. Not sure when I can make it to the gym this week with me being OOT for two full working days 7:30-6:30.

I can spiral on food/health problem conspiracies all damn day. It’s fascinating. I have this week covered for medical journals, but I think this weekend I’m going to read more about all of it.

I wish it were an option. I used to work out exclusively at lunchtime when I worked in NY (and lived in CT). Unfortunately, even my lunch hours are booked both days. This is a system conversion project that I got roped into as the Benefits lead point person. So aside from the group meetings, my boss (who sits in Hartford where these meetings are)booked my lunch hours so we can discuss updating the policy and procedure manual. Is it weird if I bring my own healthy lunch rather than gab a plate of the catered food? I think if I can at least strength train at home for 15 minutes either/both nights, I won’t feel like I lost out too much. I just know I’m going to be exhausted putting in 9 hour days and then driving 1.5 hrs on the front and back ends.

sophiegrace and kleighLast night I broiled it at 450 for 4 minutes per side with just a little olive oil and pepper (the total time depends on how thick the salmon is and how well you like it done). I made a glaze of reduced soy sauce, fresh ginger and garlic and brushed that on after about 2min of cooking, flip, cook 2 minutes, brush on sauce and let it finish. Sprinkle with some chopped chives or green onion Have you ever tried to grill fish? I really love it grilled with some lime juice, garlic, coriander, s&p, with lots of fresh herbs. I usually use a slotted grill pan brushed with coconut oil rather than directly on the grill because that helps keep the fish together. Cook it skin side down for the majority of the time to get crispy skin if you're into that.

Also for the grilled salmon you can put the ingredients on and spread on a layer of room temp butter. As the butter melts off the fish it is essentially continually basting it, which helps keep it moist. Plus, butter.

Not starbuck but I love to marinate salmon in 1/3 soy sauce and 2/3 maple syrup then bake in the oven. The sugar carmelizes on it. So good!

I would probably pack my own food in that situation, you could always add some fresh/hot stuff from the catered lunch if there’s anything decent. It’s always a toss up of that stuff is going to be decent and lunch is too important for me to risk it 😂. I hope the days go fast. The long hours are bad enough, but that’s a stinker of a drive to have to do on top of it. I wish you excellent songs on the radio! This is the 15 minute workout that I love.

Is here an art to buying salmon that i should know? It’s my absolute favorite. Incredibly efficient and a great way to ease into a more difficult workout plan. Its always how I start back up postpartum and how I ease down when I need to slow my roll. The girl in the picture is Jaimie Eason and she might actually be perfect.

Farmed doesn't have as much flavor, is lower in omegas, and sometimes they use red dyes in the feed to give the salmon a pinker color (which wild caught has naturally). Otherwise, get as fresh as possible, cook the day you buy it (ideally). Or if you buy frozen always thaw it in the fridge to avoid it getting too fishy.

I was sooooo close to rewarding myself for reaching the end of this grant by getting CFA for breakfast, but the recently dusted-off scale I found at home tells me I've lost a pound since last Thursday. So instead I had a boiled egg and half of a cliff bar.

Today was a fasting day but by 10am I was ravenous so I broke it an hour early. I really wanted grilled cheese with bacon but instead opted for leftover rotisserie chicken and mashed cauliflower, with a pickle and a 100 calorie package of mixed nuts. Yayyyyy.

My boss brought me a mission accomplished mini-cake (like 3in diameter) from the French sorry up the street this morning to celebrate the grant. I ate 3/4 of it and damn it was good but I'm soooo paying for it. I've pulled way back on sugar the past week and my body is like vert de ferk?

How do you salmon starbuck ? I’ve only had it once and clearly the person who made it did me no favor... maybe too much olive oil or something. Yes please +1 I make it in foil packets with lemon slices and pats of butter but it’s getting old. I put honey mustard on its sometimes. Also, verde salsa. In the summer a mango salsa goes on it!

I found our bathroom scale in one of my closet boxes this morning so I hopped on expecting that I gained a couple pounds since the move. It went down... 4 pounds! I don't fully trust the number but if it's accurate, that means I've dropped BELOW my pre-pregnancy goal! Overall, I've lost ~25 pounds since last November. I honestly never thought I'd ever see this weight again.

This week has been ok. I had fish and chips for lunch on Tuesday, but last night I had taco stuffed sweet potatoes. Today our manager is buying us lunch from the best Szechuan restaurant. I get the hot chicken, which isn't healthy at all but it's my favorite thing in the entire world.
