All these extra activities (like trunk or treats, etc) seem to take away from the excitement of actual Halloween night in my opinion. I’ve been mulling this over all week. I don’t mind things like boo at the zoo, a fall festival for pumpkin carving (etc), or even a classroom Halloween party, but we will have been in costume now three times before actual Halloween night rolls around, and it doesn’t feel as special anymore. I’m all extending the celebration, but I wish the costume and bring a treat bag stuff was limited to just Halloween night (be it trunk or treat or traditional t-o-t) I agree, although I think my kids would beg to differ—the more they get to wear their costume and collect candy, the better 😂 B is super excited (even moreso) to ToT tonight despite doing the Trunk or Treat at school yesterday. I do think that Halloween has been extended quite a bit since we were young, but I think that’s most holidays nowadays, generally speaking.

I'm all for extending Halloween. If we go to smaller things she will generally wear Halloween attire, but not her actual costume. She did wear her costume to dance class, class today, and then she'll wear it tonight (assuming it survives the day), but she knows today is the actual Halloween and today she goes TOT. I always thought trunk or treats were for the small kids who couldn't necessarily go out on Halloween night or for areas where houses are spread out and TOT is difficult. I'm cool with all of it, unless you're going from one trunk or treat to the next just candy hopping, then that seems a bit excessive.
I'm just glad for a holiday that isn't Christmas. They keep trying to push all the holidays out of the way for Christmas. No, give me Halloween and Thanksgiving first!

@klongoria yes, C has a Halloween outfit that she wore Monday for her class party and is wearing again today (getting my $’s worth, darn it 😂) and B had a Halloween shirt he’s worn to a couple things. We only did costumes for Trunk or Treat.

Yeah, I mean more of the trick or treating like events. We could have went to like 7 this past weekend if we wanted to. And to be honest my kids don’t need that much candy so I choose not to do those types of things if I can help it. This year we did 1. I’m cool with Halloween parties and activities like that.
