Good morning! I was just coming in here to start this. Lol. I am still sick but feeling better than I was. I am functioning at least. I have had a lot of stress with G and her bus. She is now used to get on in the morning but if she is tired and cranky, she is refusing to get on in the afternoon. One day she cried and tried to not get on and on Friday I had to pick her up because she wouldn’t even leave the school. I gave the school some ideas that I hope will help. It’s a huge source of anxiety for me right now. I need a nap. Lol

marygracerich Hopefully she comes around to it soon! Is this her first year taking the bus? I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t been around. So much on the go this week, Halloween, taking the baby in for his flu shot, Halloween party at my parents’ on Saturday and trying to squeeze in a birthday party for a neice on my husband’s side at the same time. The baby is getting so close to sleeping through the night again. After a couple of colds, he was back to waking up again but we’ve been letting him cry it out for a week or so now. Other than one really rough night, he’ll either sleep right through (10 hours), or get up and whine for about 10 minutes just once. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

I'm in my 48 hour window for final grading for my one job. DS2 decided to be awake 2.5 hours in the middle of the night and woke up DS1. There's not enough coffee in my house for this.

cake not really. She used to take the bus when she went to the EI center. But that was only 2 hours a day and it didn’t start until 8:45. She was on the bus for no more than 25 minutes each way. Now school is from 8-2 and the bus picks her up at 6:35am! She is the first pick up and is on the bus for an hour and 25 minutes going and about 50 minutes coming home. She is only 3. She has to get up so early for the bus that she is exhausted and just melts down. I have called to complain about how early it is but after two months of fighting with the transportation office, they said they will not change anything. I would drive her and pick her up but pick up is dead in the middle of the baby’s only good nap during the day. It’s such a mess.

Glad you are starting to feel better marygracerich! Ugh, your poor DD- that is a long time to be on the bus each day. That whole situation sounds so frustrating, I'm sorry! Ah- hope these next 48 hours fly by for you jessijean! I have to figure out DS's flu shot this week too cake. He was supposed to get it at his 9 month appt. but that isn't until early December, and we have a family trip to Florida in a few weeks and I feel nervous about him in an airport without having it. I think I need to get that moved up!

Oh wow marygracerich! That is such a long time for a 3 year old to be on the bus. I can’t believe they won’t work with you. pinkcat Public Health is having a flu clinic on Thursday so we’re going to take him there. It’s the only place other than the doctor’s office that will do it for babies. So this saves us from having to wait until the end of November at his 10 month check up.

It’s the only place other than the doctor’s office that will do it for babies. So this saves us from having to wait until the end of November at his 10 month check up. The school and the bus is run by nyc board of Ed. The office of pupil transportation controls the buses. I have called them many times. They always call back and they understand that the bus is too early but won’t adjust the times. The reason she is picked up so early is because she is the first pick up. That means there are 20+ other kids that have to be picked up with traffic. If the driver comes any later he wouldn’t make it to the school on time. I asked the office if they can give the school a second bus. That way all the kids can be picked up a little later. 1/2 the kids on each bus would mean later pick up times. They said because the bus is on time and all the kids get picked up, they won’t add one. It’s annoying.

marygracerich that is so ridiculously frustrating! I would be pissed. I hope something works out. I’ve got a half day today since my mom is cleaning my teeth later. H is on vacation all week which has been nice to have extra help in the night. I took Halloween off and H and I are having a breakfast date at an awesome waffle place near us while the kids go to sitters like normal for a half day. Nom nom 🤤

pinkcat, you may want to try to schedule his booster for that early Dec appt then. Or just know there will be one. The very first time they get the shot and then a booster 4 weeks later. Maybe check with the doc's office just to be sure but that was our experience with DS and DD!

Although they may not be fully protected until after the booster so maybe better try to squeeze both in before the trip if possible?

Maybe check with the doc's office just to be sure but that was our experience with DS and DD! Thank you! I called this morning and have the first round scheduled for Monday. Since the booster has to be 4 weeks after we don't have time to get one before the trip unfortunately but we'll at least have 1 round done! Did your LOs have any bad reactions from it? DS gets a fever and is sick for a few days after all his vaccines, so I'm a little worried! Still better than getting the flu though of course.

pinkcat we have to reschedule our 9 month visit because we miss the window for the booster by 2 days. DS1 developed broncholitis and pneumonia after his booster the 1st year but there is no telling what caused it. We still get him the shot every year though and have had no issues since.

marygracerich can you look into the laws regarding transport times? I though I remember that kids of certain ages can’t be on buses for excessive lengths of time.

pinkcat, we got our first shot a few weeks ago and no reaction. We have her 2nd shot mid November and I am hoping that's the same result.

marygracerich can you look into the laws regarding transport times? I though I remember that kids of certain ages can’t be on buses for excessive lengths of time. Already did. There is no specific time listed in the law. It says not for an “unreasonable amount of time.” They have guidelines but they are aren’t laws. Technically she shouldn’t be picked up until 6:45 but really 10 minutes isn’t going to make a big difference as far as sleep goes and if she is picked up then, the bus will be late to school. They offered the 10 minute later time but it doesn’t solve the problem and it makes things difficult for the driver. If they split the route to 2 buses, all the kids wouldn’t have to get picked up until at least 7.

I hope you get some relief soon Thanks. I make it worse because I get mad at myself. They are just fish...they are fine. I think things have just been compounding and it just sent it over the edge. I refuse to take my new medication over goldfish though haha

I’m not your dr so I can’t say for sure but if you are this anxious, you might want to do what you can to get some relief. I just hope you can feel better at some point.

Hi guys!
There's not enough hours in the day 😴
I'm going to wfh tomorrow afternoon. My ILS are coming over and I'd stay home all day but I have an 11 I should really go into the office for.
Finally got Halloween figured out. Em is going to be Cinderella. Liv is going to be a mouse.
My parents are going to surprise Ems at the Halloween parade at daycare. She's going to be so excited. I can't wait!

G had a good day with the bus today. I was very relieved. That’s hope this will continue.
I am still coughing. It’s very uncomfortable. I am drinking coffee because I realized I didn’t have any today and I have a headache.

Well my morning started off with a call to poison control....
DS2 knocked over the bathroom garbage and as I was walking in the room to see what he did he popped something in his mouth. It was one of my seizure pills!!! I got 95% of it out but oh my god. He could have easily had it swallowed had I not rushed in there. Poison control said he would have had to swallow 3/4 of a pill in order for us to need to go to the ER. I didn't realize my kid was a dumpster diver. I'll be flushing them from now on. I'm trying not to focus on what could have happened had I not seen it. Talk about feeling like a bad mom...

Oh jessijean I'm so sorry for the scare. Don't feel like a bad mom. They call them accidents for a reason. I'm glad he was ok. And I understand the feeling about putting things in the mouth. DS2 is always putting stuff in his mouth (the other night it was trying to put the little people bus tire in his mouth) and I'm always afraid of what he'll find on the floor no matter how hard I clean (we have a 6 year old, dog and cat to contend with on keeping the floors clean).

I’m sorry you had such a scare jessijean but I am glad your LO is ok. I have to constantly watch what little man puts in his mouth. His current favorite things are cat food, cat litter, shoes and one attempt at an ant trap. Thankfully I got to him before he got to it. It happens. Don’t feel bad.

So sorry jessijean. I’ve had to also call poison control for my oldest more than once! It happens and glad all are ok. Be kind to yourself. I’ll be back later to post Halloween pictures!
