We have a local proposition on our ballot this year that I am unsure how I should vote on. It would increase the terms for town officials from 2 to 4 years but limit them to three terms. (There are currently no term limits) I was planning to vote for it but when I was canvassing yesterday I found out the town Democrats do not support it. What do you all think?

So what’s everyones prediction for tomorrow? Can we talk about this or are people too scared to jinx it? I predict a house take over, Dems lose 2 senate seats, Gillum wins but abrams loses because voter suppression is too much to overcome in Georgia. The rational part of me says this is probably a very solid prediction, but the anxiety-ridden part of me is preparing for a complete GOP victory. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best? That's what I did in 2017

In case anyone here is as anxious as I am and will need some distraction tomorrow, you might check out this thread. 😉 They start with shirtless Oscar Isaac. Here for it. ETA: that’s just a reply, not their thread. Nice reply though 😉. Don’t mind me, my 10 month old has no respect for daylight savings and my brain is done for today.

I think increased terms is a great idea and I wish Congress had longer terms so they weren't just constantly campaigning. 12 years to hold office is also a good long time, if reelected. I would prefer a "3 terms in a row" limit, so if someone wants to run again that's ok, but someone else gets a stab at it for at least 4 years first BUT since you definitely aren't allowed to write in additional comments, I would probably vote yes on the proposition as presented because I feel so strongly about short terms being bad for the actual work of governing.

Cook Political Report says Karen Handel and Darrel Issa are in trouble. HAHAHAHAHAHA Issa isn’t running again, but his seat race is a tight one. It’s my district so I mentally take note of Levin and Harkey signs when I drive and it’s fairly even. Gosh I hope we flip it!!

I am feeling a little glimmer of hope that I haven't felt since before election day 2016. I live in a very small town suburb in a very red state and there are a lot of signs for local democratic candidates. Unfortunately, there is almost no way for my state elections to go blue, but it's nice to see so many of my neighbors fired up in our community.
I found out my grandma voted for the R candidate in a very heated governor race in her state. I am so disappointed. She said something about being worried about her medicare. I am so sick of Rs, Fox News and company scaring old people into voting for them. She is 85 years old, and it's difficult to have these conversations with her. I was able to convince her to vote for Obama both times, but it's still a struggle every time to drown out all the garbage she is hearing on the radio, tv and from her old lady friends.

Are any of you watching the Murphy Brown reboot? They are pulling no punches and at the end of last week's episode, they went to a black screen with the words
"Elections have consequences. Vote."

I can’t get my hopes up, so I’m telling myself Rs will keep the House. I was so confident going into election night 2016, that it made the loss so much worse. I can’t do that to myself again.

I’ve been trying to share my concerns about military spouse under employment and unemployment with my rep for the last year. He posts about the Navy all the fucking time but ignores my concerns. One time he responded on his Facebook that he would like to meet with me on the topic and to contact his office. I have contacted them a few times and I have never heard back from them.
I finally brought up my concerns with two state delegates, Danica Roem (because I follow her on twitter) and mine, Hala Ayala and Danica responded to me with in a few hours. I’m going to follow up by sending her more information. Wittman has ignored me for a year about a topic that he hides behind (military) to get votes and a state delegate who isn’t even mine responds right away. Fuck him.

GA seems to be in a dead heat and I'm not sure how this is going to go. I am really concerned if the governorship goes to a runoff. You have to get at least 51% of the vote to win - any less and it goes to runoff.
Which Kemp would oversee, of course.

We’ve got a couple heated propositions regarding housing on the ballot in CA. An apartment complex on the corner of my street has a huge sign about them basically on the landlord side of the debate (vs renters). I’m kind of annoyed because it’s kind of the entrance to our neighborhood so it looks like that’s what our neighborhood supports. Anyways, I noticed today that someone graffiti’s LIES on it. You know it’s a hot election when the proposition signs are getting vandalized. 😲

I'm trying to convinve my mom to vote for Kwame Raoul for IL AG over Harold. I hate attack ads. She's worried he's part of "the Mike Madigan Machine".

Up early and i’ve already made the mistake of reading comments on our fb community page - looks like I’ll be hating everything for a few more years. It’s going to be a long day. I want to be hopeful, but...people are the worst.
