I finally heard back from the doctors office around 3:15...I sent them the email at 9:30 this morning. Apparently this must not be an urgent issue. She asked me a couple questions so I sent a response and am waiting to hear back. The good news is that I haven’t thrown up at all today. I was very nervous about eating lunch but it was fine. I did call out of work so I won’t be spreading germs (if I have them).

jewels I have a newt and it’s the easiest pet ever except that i have had it for almost 17 years so there’s that. I believe they can also carry salmonella but we never touch it. It lives in a fish tank and we throw it some reptile sticks like once a week so super easy because if you go away for less than a week, you don’t even need anyone to take care of it. It swims but also climbs up on this fake pirate ship thing.

Speaking of cats, S has been asking for a pet for his birthday. Well he wants a dog, but I am not in a place to handle a dog. I am not a cat person (sorry, I know cats are popular on this board) and I don't want anything stinky or too hard to care for as I have enough to do caring for the 2 small people I am responsible for. What pets do you think would be good? I thought turtle, but my friend told me they carry salmonella. Hermit crab? Any other ideas? Fish. My children would love a pet but it’s not a financially smart choice right now.

jewels Full disclosure, adulthood has made me a pet scrooge, lol. My dad was a softie/animal lover so we had many pets growing up. Honestly, IDK what he was thinking. A goldfish was probably the lowest maintenance thing we had but I was in high school at the time (I got it as a gift...long story), so I was able to clean the bowl out, etc. Guinea pigs and bunnies are messy and a lot of work. Any turtles I've ever been around have smelled to high heaven (haven't had one personally). We have a dog now and I love her but will not be in a hurry to replace her once she goes to her great reward. If it were me I'd probably try to figure out a different gift until the boys are old enough to help more.

Did I ever tell you guys how I accidentally adopted my ex-aunt's (she divorced my uncle) cat? I got her at a shelter, her name was Elise and she didn't respond to it so I named her Polly. I was talking about her to my cousin and we figured out it had been his mom's cat. She took her to the shelter cause she was peeing everywhere. He told me they called her Lisie. Got home and called her that and she responded immediately. Then I started calling her Polly Wolly pee pants cause she did, in fact, pee everywhere.

flamingo, I'm the same about my dog. I love him but won't be in a hurry for another until the kids get older. It's hard for me to take him on walks with all the kids unless MH is with me, he's messy and he always runs away. He is cute though...

I really want my children to have a dog, but I am feeling a little selfish about getting one. It’s really nice to not have the added responsibility of walking a pet, vet and grooming visits, finding sitters for the times we are away. Because we were dog owners and still are dog lovers, I recognize that there are far more rewards, but with where we are right now it makes me think we should wait until Charlie is in kindergarten and then the dog can become my daytime companion.

One of my drivers was in an accident. He's fine and miraculously, the women that hit him are fine. One car is tangled up underneath our trailer, that is fully loaded with 44,000 pounds of water. The other car is in the front end of his truck. The 2 cars hit each other and then crossed into traffic going the opposite way and both of them hit him. Insane.

I'm going to my cousin's wedding this weekend. I'm not close to this cousin at all. He was the rich spoiled kid to my poor kid self. The most interaction we had was me babying sitting him. I'm fairly certain I was a second tier invite based on when I got the invitation but I'm going anyway because it's been over 5 years since I've done anything with that side of the family, it's at a fancy hotel and I rarely ever dress up, and I'm fine with my meal cost being more than my gift. I'm mostly going to people watch and enjoy the food. I want to see the older relatives be horrified at the no Catholic church wedding. He's several years younger than me and the wedding page and recent informative email let me know they have several hashtags for the wedding (I guess if we take pictures we're supposed to use these? I don't hashtag so I don't know?). Their household saying is "Razzle dazzle." I have no clue what this means. I will be observing the big city youths to see if I can glean more about this. Please live blog this event.

I can't imagine not having a dog. My two have about 6 years between them so even when my girl goes, we will still have our boy. At that point we will probably adopt another younger one and just continue the cycle.

I got a dog to protect us when my H is away. The dog is afraid of everything lol. Of course lol. I remember a comedian doing a bit about his dog and everyone said oh he'll scare away robbers! He said "oh yea, unless the robber brings a steak.. Then he'll go lick himself clean in the corner while they carry out my TV"

Hi!!! Have I checked in today? I don’t think so. But I had to pop over because I’m laughing at myself. So you know how sponsored link pop up on Facebook and whatnot? Well this came up today on mine: What is it and how does it stop someone from abducting you? Is it like a chastity belt? How could you possibly have time to get it on and inflate it while you were in the act of being abducted? Or did you wear it all the time and it self inflated when you were in danger? So much confusion. I finally clicked because the suspense was killing my. It’s an inflatable thigh master.

Am I weird that I want the cat with a missing leg or one eye every time we go to the shelter? Come to me, Broken Ones. Not weird. I always tell Pete we're going to show up one day and tell them them to give us the oldest, ugliest one.

I think finding a playmate is mainly is based on personality, not necessarily female/male/young/old. I ended up with my little one Zoe when I asked for the one that was there the longest. She was in a kennel for months at Petsmart, and always got ‘missed’ when it was time to rotate the cats to homes with the resuce. She did not know how to be a cat, didnt cuddle with me for a good 6 months, and could barely jump, even to this day 9 years later she uses a bench to get up on our bed.

Afternoon Ladies! I escaped the construction noise at my house, dropped the kids off at various schools and childcares and then drove around aimlessly talking to my sister on the phone for 2 hours. Quite the productive morning if I do say so myself. Also, for all my cat ladies...we have been talking about getting another cat. My current cat is female and super chill and friendly. She literally follows my kids around the cul-de-sac letting all the neighbor kids pet her and pick her up (I am kind of hoping she would show a new cat the ropes). I have heard conflicting opinions on whether to get an adult cat or a kitten and another female vs. male. We prefer to rescue and I am kind of leaning against a male since they can spray, but I'm not ruling it out. Thoughts? I would go for young but with established personality and behavior. But definitely rescue

The appointment itself wasn't bad, but the demands of this are really wearing on me, TBH. They want me to start making homemade baby food...For my two year-old. I'll do it, of course, but you can definitely file this under things I never thought I'd have to do.

Maybe a silly question, but why does it have to be home made?
