I will try to post some pictures later. i want to go to this pumpkin patch today after work. They close at 6 and i hope i can leave work a little early to pick up M, get her shoes from home, and then head over there. Today is probably the best day to do that since tomorrow and the rest of the week/next week is supposed to be cold (60's) and rainy. Not ready for the cold.

duskymonkey , we replaced the capacitor ourselves yesterday evening and as we were patting ourselves on the back it stopped working again. I'm working from home this afternoon waiting for the HVAC repair person. Monday night was H.O.T. Last night was better and we all slept much better. However, a major cold front moved through and it is currently 54* outside. Still ok inside at the moment but it will not be by bedtime, I'm sure. Hoping it can be fixed this afternoon without too much damage to our wallet.
ETA repair guy is here and the motor is bad. Yay, us, we're getting a new hvac motor.

LO is changing so fast. Over the weekend his preferred method of movement switched from crawling to walking. He's walking all over the house now, and starting to fall more because he gets going too fast. This was a week and a half ago, but here is our big ONE year old!

duskymonkey She’s still not really drinking out of a cup but she’ll have to figure it out. She did 2 hours without me at daycare today and was very mad at me when I picked her up. She gave me an earful. Then I left her with my mom so I could get my hair done.

I had 2 hours to myself this morning to run errands. I got a ton of stuff done and then even had time for a nap!

Y’all - I start posting something, get distracted, and then come back to finish hours later. Anyway, here’s DD1 finally getting a cupcake a few days after her party. She loved it.

Thanks guys, we had to wait an hour to be de-Iced so by the time our plane landed it was 8:30 😭 Both kids were in bed and asleep by 9:30. DD had an ok day at preschool but was emotional after and both kids napped for 2.5 hours this afternoon. Planning on an early-ish bedtime today and hopefully tomorrow they will get back on track!

CoachTsWife That sounds awful about your HVAC - I’m sorry! doodlemommy Glad to hear you guys made it back. I hope you can bounce back on schedule soon!! duskymonkey I just caught DS1’s cold....ugh...kid germs! Glad you got the emissions test done. It’s a pain, but at least it helps improve air quality! TMI, but they don’t have any testing of any sort out here, and my lungs feel it after being in the city without a break for too long. I coughed up some black specks this morning 😩. I know - gross!

Well, I tried to avoid getting sick by getting the flu shot yesterday, but that didn’t protect me from preschooler germs. DS1 sneezed point blank in my face the other day, and now I think I have what he had. It wasn’t anything serious- he didn’t even miss school for it, just lost his voice. Fingers crossed it’s mild for me too. Just to be safe, I took the day off and at lunchtime slept for like 3 hours in bed. It was glorious.

I have to have indoor and outdoor shoes for daycare. I spend the money on good support indoor shoes since they spend all day in them. If you have a specialty kids shoes store near you get the baby fitted there to see what brand and style fits them best and then buy them cheaper somewhere else if the price is too high.

I got my hair done yesterday and she made it more blonde but some of the blonde is grey which is not the look I’m going for. I called the salon first thing this morning to see if I could get it fixed and they gave me a bit of a hard time. I kept pushing, lol no at waiting until next week with grey hair.
DD2 was upset and clingy from the moment she woke up and I could hear her crying all the way out of the building. 💔 I pick her up after lunch today.

August Blooms Hugs on the hair, and the tough time leaving the kids at daycare. It will get better. They’d better fix your hair too - what the heck - who gives grey hair to anyone??? Especially someone our age?

August Blooms , that's a good idea. i got the soft motion stride rite brand and they seem like good shoes. i will probably take her into a store and at least get her feet measured properly.
ETA: sorry about the hair! i hope they fix it for you for free! it sucks when you notice things after you leave the salon.

codex320, we’re a stride rite family simply because my sister gave us her kid DS shoes and since we know the sizes it was just easier to stick to that brand. They also make good shoes. Like August Blooms suggested, get her feet measured and it has to be a speciality kids store and same here, we spend $ on good shoes, IMO it’s important for their growing feet. Even my mom said she spent $ on good shoes for me and sis. Any ol shoe store won’t have small enough measuring plates - surprisingly Clark’s can measure them too and they make good shoes for kids. Also make sure to get wide shoes...babies and tots feet are cute and fat and good for their toes to be able to wiggle freely. Pedipeds and See Kai Run are also good brands. Once you find a brand and size, get 1-2 half sizes up. Their feet grow fast and you don’t want to be caught last minute shopping when one day their feet feels crammed. Stride rite website will have sales like BOGO50% or B2G1free. Personally I’ve gotten loads of great deals on amazon for SR shoes. I’ve paid between $18-22. I’ve also gotten the same style 2 sizes up when I see deals simply because I know they’re comfortable and durable. I pack the extra half size up in ds’ School bag for accidents especially when they begin potty training. Although I think we’ve only gotten 1 accident. In any case, it’ll get used.

Taitai, smog in SEA is atrocious especially in cities, we were lucky we grew up in a small village and everytime we went to the city, we could feel the difference in the air. Also glad to know DS isn't the only one that gets loud...he has to be heard ALL. THE. TIME Hubs and I have given up having conversations because he'll constantly interrupt us and we'll be constantly asking him to stop, be polite and behave so our conversation is always unproductive anyways so we just wait until the kiddos go to bed to really talk.

duskymonkey, thanks for the info! We have a clarks in our mall, so maybe if there is time today we can swing by and get her feet measured! Also, there prices are pretty comparable to SR.

Especially someone our age? Grey hair is actually a thing people are doing on purpose, just not me. They actually squeezed me in and fixed it... it’s still super light but it’s not grey anymore. It was concentrated around my face so it was super noticeable.

Who elses kid is grinding their teeth? Its driving me CRAZY OMG yes. Both my girls did this when their teeth first started coming in. For us, it stopped by the time the front 8 were all in. Hopefully it’s over soon for you but I do think once ours started grinding it was 2 or so months 😬

@augustooms Oh wow! I didn’t know it was so popular to get gray hair! I’ve seen k-pop type kids with grey/purple hair, but I kind of wrote it off as an artsy kid fad. Glad they were able to fix it! cythe DS1 used to grind his teeth and DS2 does it now sometimes- esp when he is happy or wants attention. I hate it!!!! Stahhhhhp kids! DS1 stopped when all his teeth came in thank goodness. codex320 We love pedi peds and Robeez over here. I second all of the advice from duskymonkey 👍

I’m still feeling off from my cold, but nothing debilitating. Princess Eugenie is getting married today and they are televising it on ITV, so I think DS1 and I will have a little tea party later this afternoon to watch the guests arrive. I want to see George and Charlotte in their cute page boy/flower girl outfits!

Friday Friyay!
I have a student teacher coming in to observe today. She’ll be joining us full time after Christmas. I’m a little worried at how underprepared she’s seemed but hoping to be pleasantly surprised today.
LO has been waking about 1x a night recently to nurse. I mean, I’m sure I could cut it out and she’d be fine, but she screams - not cries- and she can go seemingly for.ev.er. So it’s been either listen to her cry for long periods of time or a quick 10-15 minute nursing session. Turning off her monitor doesn’t really work because we live in a small house so I hear her anyway. I’d love for her to sleep through the night but I’m also feeling super guilty because of all the time I spend doing 10 other things that aren’t “being with her”. She’s such a cuddle as opposed to DD1 too. Ugh. Mom guilt. I have it.

This is long because I’m having all the feelings today. So both kids are at daycare for another hour. I got a few errands done and prepped some quick breakfast stuff for next week. I was thinking of ditching the errands and prep and doing something last minute just for me but I had no idea what to do with myself. I hate feeling like I need check off my to do list but I had no idea what I would do with 5 hours to myself since it seems like such a luxury.
I have to go away for a week for work in 2 weeks and I’m conflicted about weaning or trying to keep breastfeeding. Obviously factors out of my control may not allow me to. I’ve been breastfeeding or pregnant for the last 4 years. I feel guilty because I feel like breastfeeding contributed to DD1 getting less sick at daycare but a part of me wants to stop to see if I can drop this last bit of weight I want to lose.
Tl;dr All the mom guilt over going back to work.

My baby is 1 today! He celebrated it by waking up at 4:30. I nursed him and put him back down, he cried on an off from 5-5:30 when I got him and brought him in my bed. He did sleep there until I had to get up but now I am majorly tired and to top it all off, we are all super sick and had to reschedule his birthday party from tomorrow to next week ☹️ DH had the hot/cold shakes yesterday, I woke up today feeling super nauseous and with a pounding headache. Around 2pm I started to feel better other than being tired. At 3pm Dh calls me to tell me that DD was puking. She has since puked numerous more times and was already asleep at 6:15. We pretty much never get sick so this is all unfamiliar territory for us, DD is sleeping on an air mattress on our floor just in case 🤷♀️
