I just read another story on Yahoo where the kid invited 30 classmates, people RSVPed yes, and no one showed. We still haven't had a class party this year so I have no clue what the turnout would be like :/ I'm thinking of trying to sell B on a birthday trip to DC, lol. Geez! C asked me the other day "what if no one comes"? I told him I have 17 yes responses and 7 who we haven't heard from yet. I also told him if no one shows then Dad and I will jump with him. I am more worried everyone is going to show at this point since I paid for 20.

I'm so obsessed with that link to everything rainbow, chrisy01. Gorgeous. Re: the party where nobody showed up, I read some comments on the original story from people who said they were actually there at the party, and the parents were just making that post for attention. So who knows? Terrible if no one came to the kid's birthday celebration, also terrible if the parents are just weirdos.

I read a few comments on Yahoo, but only the first few...mostly saying something similar had happened to them/their child.

We gave an invite to M’s best bud tonight at the fall festival and I was talking to his mom about if J was going to be doing all-star soccer. He will and once I got home I realized the all-star game is the same day as the party. ::sad trombone:: I think I’ll wait to tell M his bestie won’t be at his party.

I called today to book H’s party. It’s at a local gymnastics place that has inflatables. They supply plates, silverware, etc. so we just have to show up with pizza, a cake and party. Thank goodness.

Now I'm trying to decide between an indoor swim party, gymnastics party or trampoline place...too many decisions.

But then again I’m the worst scenario girl. I've attended several swim parties this year. If your child can't swim, you're in the pool with them and they're wearing a puddle jumper or life vest. The place I'm looking at is the swim school where M took classes. They have lifeguards at the parties and life vests if needed. Swim parties are pretty common here. I'd imagine if the parent isn't comfortable with it, they wouldn't allow their kid to attend. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Parents are kinda responsible for watching their own kids at this age here. That might be at a swim party, a busy play place, chuck e cheese, ect.

I had a parent email me to ask if the party was a drop off because they went to a craft party recently and parents weren’t allowed to be there. She said she was fine either way but just wanted to be prepared. I told her most will likely be staying but do what’s comfortable.

I've only had 2 RSVP yes and 2 RSVP no at inviting his whole class. There is a party every weekend from this week until Thanksgiving. I handed out a few invites today to mom's and basically the invites get lost or pile up. Last year there were a few parties that asked for RSVP from the parents via the teachers because of lack of response. It might be tacky but I think I will put some in boxes again on Monday if I don't get more responses.
I booked a pirate ship bounce house and ordered some foam swords as party favors/ party games.

Sunny41 the teacher has sent us pictures of the invites to the last 2 parties due to lack of response. One mom said that if we don't hear from her, we should just assume that they are coming, but last year she told us yes, and then didn't show up.

Josie just got a birthday party invite for a pony party that coincides with her last day of soccer celebration. We won’t be able to make it because of it, but if soccer is canceled for weather we could go. I guess I just have to RSVP no and deal with it.

I had to remind myself that we don't have to go to all the parties and be ok with no's. But a pony party sounds fun. Although if it is an outside party it will be affected by weather just like soccer

I'll be passing out invites next week. It's the weekend before Thanksgiving so I'm expecting some no's.

Can you RSVP and tell the mom that she has a soccer commitment that day but it might cancel and ask if you can change your RSVP last minute? I had 1 mom RSVP for S party that her daughter hurt her hip and is on restricted activity. She said the follow up appt was that week so she wouldn't know until last minute if she could come or not so she had to say no. I told her she could change her RSVP at the last minute if her daughter was cleared.

The pony party is inside (well at least covered inside/outside, and I’d hate for Josie to miss out on a fun friend’s party if it’s rainy or of too cold for soccer.
